Agreed. Holmes had 55 catches for 821 yards. What sells him is his Superbowl MVP... Anyone remember another SB MVP named Deion Branch? Same guy really. Ask Seattle if it was worth the 1st they gave up... The only thing Holmes is expectational in is the punt return game.

You didn't make a bad trade, you just traded guys with names people know.

 

Holmes is a young player who is a threat to take the ball into the endzone any play. He opens up the field for underneath passes for Ward and Miller, it isn't all about stats.

I agree he isn't a top receiver, but he's a very good one with room to grow.

 

Holmes is future star in his 3rd year....he is by no means just a "name"

 

Ted Ginn put up almost the same stats... I'd hardly call Ginn a future star at this point. At least Branch put up 75+ catches in a season. Holmes was barely on the radar until the SB (he deserved the MVP, he was great in the game). Ward did the dirty work over the middle, Washington got all the deep balls in 08 and Sweed going into year 2 will likely be a bigger part of their offense, especially in the red zone.

We'll see what he does in 09... It's more then likely Hines Ward will still be the best WR on that team, IMO.

I leave for a day and suddenly this whole thread spirals with name calling and arguing, and someone telling me to kiss their *** -shakes head-.

This is how something fun like our GM League can cause people to leave, yeah moves get criticized and critiqued and what have you, but you don't have to defend everything until the very end when we do our write ups to persuade one another to vote for your team.

Little ribs and poking fun at people is ok and cool, but when you start hurling insults or just coming off and telling someone to f' themselves its a little out of hand. I've been doing this for the past 4 or 5 seasons and really this is the first time I think things could be pushed a little too far.

Please leave the Mexicans alone, and keep it civil. Yes make fun of Gish, but please if you have personal issues with people and their backing out of trades or someone critiqing your trade go over PM or AIM and get over it.

I think the Dolphins cleaned up in this move. They completed the trifecta of trading. IMO, they got the better players, the better picks, and saved a ton of cap while doing it.

While the Lions didn't take a huge dip in talent, or a huge dip in draft picks, the cap difference is enough to make this trade look one sided.
