No one wants to pay the the price but I bet if he hit free agency he would have alot of interest. The guy is good and you should not think of him as a hole in your defense.

Houston and I had been working a deal for Trent Cole for 2 weeks.

Personally, I think I got fleeced if you look at the trade in a vacuum. trading a young defensive end and 2 picks, including a 2nd rounder is NOT a good deal IMO. Offensive players are WAY overvalued in this league and because of that I had to overpay for Slaton.

If I was a real GM and someone phoned me wanting a 2nd rounder, a 5th rounder and a young Pro Bowl defensive end for a 2nd year running back (albeit a good running back) I would tell them to commit themselves to an insane asylum.

The only way this deal works for me is if I can trade Bryan Westbrook so I can lower my cap number and get another day one pick.

I think it was a pretty fair trade on both sides. Trent Cole is a Top 10 DE in the league (Pro Bowler) and will match up great on the strong side opposite Mario Williams. I think Cole doesn't get the credit he deserves here because he isn't in our Divison or Conference. Cole is only 26 years old and is entering his Prime, but has been extremely consistant the the last 3 years. In those 3 years, he is averaging aout 70 Tackles and 9.8 sacks a year. With a DL consistant of:
Trent Cole Amobi Okoye Shaun Rogers Mario Williams

    Watch out!!!

As far as losing Steve Slaton... Yeah, it is going to hurt, but I will be able to get a solid back-up for Larry Johnson in the mid rounds (probably 3rd). This HB class is has a lot of depth and I should be able to find my own Tashard Choice, Kevin Smith, Jamaal Charles, Tim Hightower, or Tashard Choice; all HBs taken in the 3rd round or later. Well, that is unless Gish swoops in and picks Jamaal Charles in the 1st again .

LOL! Yah, when I looked back on how everything turned out I did a lot of sideways movement.

    With that said of course...

I got younger and cheaper at running back.

My defensive line is basically the same (although I do think Patrick Kerney is an upgrade at left end if I can get a pass rusher to replace Cole).

I added Tony Gonzalez which is a massive upgrade on LJ Smith.

My O-line is a bit of a mess right now but if I can sign a free agent or two and make a trade I'm working on I could be alright.

I think it turned out alright....pending the draft.

There have been 2 huge trades lately... I would love to get everyones opinions!

I think the Tuck and DeSean Jackson deal was pretty fair on both sides. The Giants still have 2 solid DE's in Mathias Kiwanuka and Osi and added another solid young WR. They also moved up in the 1st round.

The Eagles on the other hand now have two great DE's in Patrick Kerney and Justin Tuck. They should be able to get a WR with pick #47 to replace Jackson.

    Great overall trade!

I'd also like to hear what people think about my trade for Thomas Davis and Steve Smith : )

I think both trades work for both teams.

Like I said to PSG (the Giants GM) making trades is a pleasure when both parties are negotiating fairly and not trying to fleece the other guy.

Everyone wants to "win" a trade but I think the best trades and the ones that actually get done 99% of the time are the ones where both teams feel they "won" the trade.

If you make a trade and feel like you came out better then you went in then you won it regardless of other peoples opinions. As well as that, every trade looks different when you look at the entire picture and don't look at a single deal in a vacuum.

I know some of the deal I have made look kind of odd when you look at them as just THAT trade but I had a process (Sabanism) that I was trying to do and it all came together almost perfectly.

IMO, very good. I find Cromartie overrated and you got nice additions at OLB and DE as well as picks. You did better than I thought you would to be honest. I wouldn't have given you more than a 3rd or fourth for AC.

Thanks... He had originally included Anthony Henry in the deal, but I didn't have a use for him to be honest... so he swapped him out for a fourth round pick. His offer was certainly a good one... so good that I had to stop the auction short and risk losing a better offer. But I didn't want to risk losing his offer either.

Cromartie is good, but so are Jammer and Cason. I could certainly part with him.... and continue my master plan. :shifty:

Hey laugh all you want, we are in the spot that we want to be and I don't give a damn if you like it or not.

And why is everyone under the assumption that we take Aaron Curry? Is it that hard to look at our roster to see that we have made trades for four linebackers that we like and plan on starting? Jesus.

lol so you move up to take a Linemen which btw is a very deep class. I'm sure with 2 of those 1st rounders you could have got 2 great Linemen or what ever need its just a bad move IMO.

I don't understand the move but good for Detroit at least they understand they cant be the best right away.

Also I say Curry because he is head and shoulders the best player in the draft. So you move up to take Baylor's Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe.

    Ok.

Yes, if that's what you want to hear then yes, we did.
