Okay, forget about Peyton Manning. Even if he is 100% healthy and a free agent, he is not coming to this mess.

Apparently people in NFL circles look at our situation in the front office as a joke...I'm starting to believe it.

 

Stop that right there. Michael Lombardi has already reported from Harbaugh's mouth that he didn't take the job because he did not want to work with Jeff Ireland. Stop making things up please.

In thinking about this the highly weird part to me, if correct, is why peterson would only come on board if a coach he wants is hired.
If that is incorrect, this doesn't seem like such a big deal to me. Pull someone off the bench to woo one coach while doing your due diligence on other coaches, possibly scouting assistants, etc. That doesn't seem like quite the embarrassment people make it out to be. I think people getting that easily embarrassed is more embarrassing.

 

Give this time guys.

If we can get another search started with Bill Polian heading it, and a 4th with Oliver Kahn, put the interviews, the final decision and press conference on Pay Per View, use the proceeds to renovate (Insert Name here) Stadium.

 

Just as long as it's smaller and the seats are placed closer to the sidelines.

seriously, I keep saying this, but why do you keep starting threads? I applaud the passion of our fans, but some of you are acting like 5 year old drama queen over this. mole hill -----> meet mountain.

so, the people who are crying so loudly, have you ever helped conduct a search for an executive level position before? I have, and it's all about making a strong impression and sometimes you have to bring different people to the table to maximize your chances. I have no problems with this method.

If you want to criticize Ross, it's that he doesn't have the personality to close the deal on his own and requires either Peterson or Ireland to convince the candidate. and since Ireland doesn't have that level of charm, then Peterson makes all the sense in the world.

most of the initial posts in this thread make me embarrased to be a dolphins fan.

 

I dont see it as that big of a deal... Ross doesn't know what he's looking for... so he's got his GM out looking at guys, and from everything else I read, pretty sure they said Peterson, Ireland and Ross have all been together in the interviews... so good for Ross if that's the case, he's put two guys that can give good, honest evaluations of what they perceive to be from each coaching candidate... then report back to Ross who their choices are.

hell, when I interviewed at the place I work, I met with the President/GM of the company, then the manager division I was going to work in. Since then, I've been called into interviews with my manager to sit in and listen, and ask the odd question during interviews for new recruits to our company to fill the new expansion position in the same role that I currently do for a different territory... It's not that out of the norm to bring in others, with other area's of expertise. Its not bad to try and impress a candidate by letting him see that that many people are interested in the success and well being of the organization, and sometimes, different people in the organization recognize talents in different ways than another may. Youd hate to miss something, because you didnt have the right person in the room.

Im not going to get involved on these meetings any more than this. I dont want to. Personally I think us, as fans, and the morons in the SFL media blow every little thing out of porportion, and we just explode and react, rather than just wait and see... I may just wait, keep tabs on who we interview, and then see what becomes of it, then react...

 

or maybe you just aren't aware that it may have been used before? is that humanly possible? while it's irregular, it doesn't mean it can't succeed.
all the rumor mills have Fisher leaning towards other teams vacancies. Ross decided to play his only trump card to try and convince Fisher to come here.

 

Maybe things aren't as good in the bedroom with those two as some would assume.

Let's be clear here. Your opinion is right because Lombardi's reporting disagrees with it? Am I getting this correct?

 

I'm not crying oh so loudly (I'm rather amused instead) but actually I have and would consider it poor style if the employer conducted two searches at the same time. It's not uncommon in some industries but in my personal experience it usually speaks volumes about the quality of the company conducting the search.

It's not certain Harbaugh would have signed with Miami, even if Jeff Ireland never existed on this earth.

 

People are putting to much into this. Professional courtesy, my butt. Lets say Wal mart was going to replace the store manager of one of their under performing stores. They don't fire the person then find their replacement. They find their replacement first then fire them. Happens all the time. It's a doggie dog world. Rude...yes. But totally wrong- not really. I'll bet it sent a pretty profound message.

And Michael Lombardi is never wrong. Even IF Harbaugh said that, it could have been just a convenient excuse. I seriously doubt he'd have ever chosen a franchise in Florida over one in California anyway, given the choice. Except maybe the Raiders when Al was still above ground. He went to high school in Palo Alto, I think his wife is from California. It's very likely he strongly prefers living and working in that part of the country.

 

Ya know... after reading the article again. it seems more like speculation on LaConfora's part that its technically two different searches... it just sounds to me more like its just Jason's assumption that they are, simply because Peterson and Fisher were in the chopper together at the facility. Maybe Ireland and Ross were busy elsewhere, hell, maybe they were asleep (who cares really) and Peterson, maybe knows Fisher well, and went to pick him up. It wouldnt surprise me that Peterson is sitting in on the interviews just because he has experience in doing so many times in the past.

To me, this whole article seems like speculation, more than fact on what's really going on. This entire thing here, is just an over reaction IMO. No offense or anything Vinny... it's just my opinion on reading the article. Just seems like the LaConfora is making something out of nothing... without proof that Peterson actually interviewed Fisher, without Ross and Ireland... its all irrlevant speculation. just because he arrived with Fisher, doesn't mean he interviewed him and Ireland/Ross didnt.

Just seems like an awfully big set of dots to connect here to come to that conclusion... If they saw Peterson, sittin at a desk with Fisher doing and interview. Then sure, report it as such. Just cuz you saw the two get off a helicopter together, doesn't mean **** all to me. Carl could have taken Fisher on a sightseeing tour for all we know.

That's what seems ridiculous to me in all of this. Someone said it earlier too... this is indicative of our fanbase as well... alot of it comes from the irresponsibility of our local media following the team though with their irresponsible reporting. How you can report that Peterson is conducting the interview and such of Fisher simply from a chopper arrival, is ridiculous.

With Ross' chopper they should amass a good sample size of interviews. Billick > Fisher

What am I really supposed to say here? If I acknowledge this is unorthodox, what does that do for your cause? It is unorthodox, but, I asked you to name something wrong with it. The only thing you've said thus far is that it's not normal. That's surprising Vinny. You know from the arguments on Prop 8 that something not being perceived as "normal" doesn't make it wrong.

 

Or, a company masquerading as a industry leader while selling an inferior product.
