I'm totally speechless, appear to me that Ross loves to have around him people without backbone, yes man kind of guys. I even thought that he likes to be constantly in the spot light ala Jerry Jones, without having the knowledge to run a franchise.....but hes having a lot of attention, while the team is suffering to a point of losing the little credibility left.

 

How about you list one god damned thing wrong with it?

Ireland interviewing coaches who would actually be willing to work with him while Peterson is interviewing coaches that would work with him. Best coach wins. Would YOU want Ireland interviewing Fisher to be his boss?

Agree at this point it is stupid to keep Ireland around but remember Ross is not a football guy and Jeff is all he has committed to him right now.

Do you want Jeff Ireland interviewing Jeff Fisher as his prospective boss? Bearing in mind Peterson got us the Harbaugh interview and Ireland lost us the Harbaugh signing.

He gets to interview all the special teams coordinators and token minorities in case Carl isn't able to land Jeff Fisher and can't be bothered to work with someone he didn't go to elementary school with. It's pure genius, don't you see?

I really am missing what the drama is about? He's having thunderdome with the GM spot up for grabs. He who brings the best coach in wins!!


That is, if that is really what is happening at all. Peterson and Ireland could be researching and scouting different coaches in order to maximize amount of candidates covered. Or, Peterson could be in on all of the meetings anyway.

 

It's a highly irregular move for a front office that is increasingly becoming highly irregular.

In a lot of ways, this is like the Sparano / Harbaugh fiasco last season. Last year, Ross used Sparano as his fallback option after opening courting another coach. This time out Ross is using Ireland as a fallback option in the event that he and King Carl can't score a big name coach.

From a business strategy, I get it. Hedging your bets to prevent the franchise from falling into disarray. I just don't think Ross understands how much this hurts the franchise from a PR standpoint.

Color me unimpressed by this turn of events.

 

So when we fail to get Jeff Fisher is Ireland getting a contract extension?
