My first time posting, and I'm sure it's been discussed ad nauseum, but I wanted to post my thoughts on the future and hear some thoughts from the Dolphins community. (I'm originally from New Jersey and living in NYC, so I don't have too many people to commiserate with). First things first, unless there are some clear signs of improvement in the last 3 games, Cameron has to go. I know he's a first year coach, and there have been a lot of injuries, but this season has been an unmitigated disaster. It starts on day 1 with the draft, where his justification for taking a kick returner with the 9th overall pick is "he comes from a good family." I'm not saying he should have taken Quinn, but it was clear that Ginn would not have otherwise been drafted until at least the late first round. A smart coach/GM trades the pick. Since then, he hasn't been able to get a single win, and it's clear the team has lost all confidence in him. I'm not sure who you get as a replacement. Maybe the OC for New England, maybe Shottenheimer, but anyone would be an improvement. The team needs to cut its losses and realize Cam was a mistake. Giving the guy the keys for another year, just means one more lost year. Next, realize it's going to take a few years to right the ship. He's a first ballot hall of famer, but you have to trade JT. By the time the team is ready to compete again, he'll be on the downside of his career, if he's not there already. Do NOT draft McFadden. I'm not saying he won't be good, but the fact is, drafting a running back is almost as much of a gamble as drafting a quarterback. They're the most prone players on the field for injury. All it takes is one unlucky touch, and they're out for the season, if not longer. We have Ronny, and Booker has shown some signs of promise. Plenty of running backs have come back to play well after acl surgery (McGahee, Jamal Lewis, and E. James come to mind). If possible trade the pick (perhaps to the Jets) and draft as good an O-lineman as you can, and as many other solid players as you can. Perhaps make a package that includes the pick and JT. Stop going through the route of the over-the-hill veteran (Ferrotte, Green, etc.). Let Beck play, take his licks, and see if he has what it takes. Maybe we'll be in a position to draft Tebow if it doesn't look like it's going to work out. I realize this is only the tip of the iceberg, but we need to continue the conversation.
