With 5 games left in the season the Dolphins find themselves in unfamiliar territority, contending for the playoffs. First lets take a look at the remaining schedule for all 4 teams.

    New York (8-3)
    week 13 Den @ NYJ
    week 14 NYJ @ SF
    week 15 Buf @ NYJ
    week 16 NYJ @ Sea
    week 17 Mia @ NYJ

    New England (7-4)
    week 13 Pit @ NE
    week 14 NE @ Sea
    week 15 NE @ Oak
    week 16 Ari @ NE
    week 17 NE @ Buf

    Miami (6-5)
week 13 Mia @ St. Louis
    week 14 Mia @ Buf
    week 15 SF @ Mia
    week 16 Mia @ KC
    week 17 Mia @ NYJ

    Buffalo (6-5)
    week 13 SF@ Buf
    week 14 Mia @ Buf
    week 15 Buf @ NYJ
    week 16 Buf @ Den
    week 17 NE @ Buf

Statistically the Bills have the hardest schedule with 4 teams above .500 left. The Jets and Pats both have 3. The Dolphins only have 2. Home games favor the Bills and Jets with 3. The pats have 2 at home while the Dolphins only have 1, against San Francisco. The Bills have 3 division games remaining while the Jets and Fins have 2 and the Pats only 1, week 17 at Buffalo.

As it stands now the Jets are in first place in the division at 8-3 (3-1 conference) coming off their upset win over the Titans. The Pats 7-5 (3-2) are in second play, the Fins take third at 6-5 (2-2) over the Bills 6-5 (0-3) via tiebreaker.

The Jets look to have 2 sure wins over San Fran and Seattle putting them at 10 wins. If they win 1 of 3 against Denver, Buffalo or Miami they look to be the surefire bet to take the East crown. However all the teams are still in it. Miami can get to 9 wins easily and can still help their cause with games against the Bills and the Jets in week 17. The pats have a harder road to ho but do have the advantage of getting Pittsburgh and Arizona at home before a big matchup with the Bills in week 17 in Buffalo. The Bills are in the worst position to push for the division title after being swept the first go around in division games but they get another shot this time with 2 at home, Miami in Toronto and the aforementioned week 17 matchup against the Pats.

These are my own personal projections but I foresee going into week 17 Jets 11-4 Pats 10-5 Fins 10-5 Bills 9-6. Sadly for my buddy Scotty that puts the Bills out of AFC East contention. But it does make both week 17 games interesting for all involved. So many possibilities right now but if all 4 teams continue to play at a high level this will be an interesting playoff race all the way to the end. And of course, here's to hoping the Dolphins bring it home.

I think your about a week to late for this my friend.

With the Jets beating the pats and then us getting beat by the Pats.I think it's safe to say, the Jets will win the AFC East.....and even if the Jets fall on their face we should all know the pats won't.

Today killed any real shot at the playoffs as well.Sure were still mathmaticaly in it, but that's just about it.

Based on what I saw today, this team is not heading anywhere.

I picked the Jets to win the AFC East and us to finish 9-7 before the season started.

I liked the way we looked during preseason, but based on what I saw today, we got our asses handed to us today by a journeyman quarterback who achieved a team record
by throwing for 400 yards in 2 consecutive games.

This was a very disappointing game for me, and a huge set-back...

The Patriots attacked on every single down on offense...

    d-1

    Cuzz,

A.We have to win the rest of our games.

B.Then have to hope 2 of 3 other teams only win two games the rest of the year.

Do you really think the Colts, Ravens,or Pats are going to end the year going 2-3? and us win the rest of are games? Because that's what we need from two of them teams.

Hey d-1, how do you like it here so far?? I was the one from FH who told ya to come over here........Hope ya dig this place!

But you really can't call Matt a journeyman QB when he's only played with one team ....can you?

Also Matt's play off late has been off the hook, If you could take Tom's long ball game away and give him legs, i think he'd look a'lot like Matt.

Anyways, hope ya dig the site.

That's not accurate. We're only one game out of the wild card spot with 5 games to go. 3 winnable ones and 2 division games on the road. We had a rough day against a team that came to play. We have brighter days ahead this season.

Lets eliminate the Colts because they will get the #5 seed barring an injury to Manning. The Ravens have one of more difficult remaining schedules and I don't see them finishing any better then 9-7, the Pats will lose to Pittsburgh this week and with the weather getting bad for the next month their spread it out offense will struggle. I see NE finishing the season 10-6. Miami can still get into the playoffs with a 10-6 record.

We split with NE so they only have a one game advantage. I think if Miami were to win next week and NE lose Miami would pass NE in the standings.

No in fact we're not. We beat the Pats once and they beat us in the last game. They have no head-to-head advantage.

New England loses one more game then we do down the stretch and this is going to tiebreakers. It's as simple as that.

As for Baltimore, they have plenty of chances to fade down the stretch. They have at least one more loss at Dallas. Pittsburgh, Cinncy, Washington, and Jacksonville can all beat them. If Pittsburgh can and Dallas can provide the upset then we have a chance.
At this rate the Jets will be locked into their slot soon and may decide to rest in Week 17, so don't doubt that possibility. I admit it's not likely but it's possible and achieving a 10-6 record should be the bottom line goal for this team.

Unless the Ravens play the New York Giants every week from here on out.I don't see a 7-4 team that beat us by 11 points at home ending thier year going 2-3.

And if i run with what you said, the pats would still get the last playoff spot:tongue2:

    No they don't....

It only has to do with the last game the two teams played if they're out of the division.

yup pats are 3-2 in the division and we are 2-2. i can only imagine if youfigure us for 10-6 you figure one of those 2 losses to be to either the jets or bills. so therefore we'll be 3-3 in division, and pats with only the bills left will most likely be 4-2 in division, therefore they'd take the playoff spot. (and thats IF baltimore manages to tank the season too)

we could very well go 10-6 and not make the playoffs. more likely we'll be 9-7 though

Pats are not guaranteed to beat Buffalo in the last week of the season. The air attack of New England will likely be grounded in the snow, unlike the game for the Dolphins in two weeks. We play in a dome, they play in that crazy snow. When that happens without a good defense to rely on, New England may have to turn to the ground. On the ground, I trust Marshawn Lynch to do some serious damage.

It's a long-shot to be sure my friend, but I'm getting really sick and tired of the crap I'm reading on this forum today. Just quit it already. They're good, shut up and move on.

I'm more concerned with how our rookie LT's health is right now. Too many positives this year to go ape **** over losing to the Patriots. By the way Cassell for all of you who believe he is a journeyman, is going to be a very good QB with time. He's one of the few QBs I know that can scramble whenever necessary, make medium range throws, and will be even better once he learns how to throw a deep pass.

HAHA i think i just read what you were talking about lol,,,,,,,,,,,never mind.

There is a chance that the pats could have to come here later this year and we kill them.As long as that can still happen i'm at peace.

Does anyone realize were 6-5? Seriously.

While we probably wont win the division i think it is more appropriate to look at the wild card. We're only one game out of it with 5 games left. Its very possible we could still make it. Lets just see what happens and take it one week at a time. If we beat st louis then we can keep talking. If we dont then its over.
