-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think we can oficially call Teddy Ginn, Teddy Dangerous, the nickname is back baby!...The way this kid charged off the line was impressive, love the way he sinks his head into his shoulders and attacks the route, his body is bigger, stronger, showed excellent hands, and has a swagger that i dig like a shovel..kid looked like a #1 to me. Jason Taylor...a 260lb Jason Taylor with quickness...WHAT, are you freakin kidding me, limited action with major impact, textbook JT on his sack, rushed the passer with his eyes and head up, didnt waste a step and got his sack, AND looked handsome for dolphindebby doing so. ????: ThePHINS.com - Miami Dolphins Forums http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?p=801006 I thought the first team defense was dominant. Henne...except for that one play i thought he played a very nice game, stood in the pocket when there was pressure closin in and made accurate throws under that pressure, did lock on a few times, but for his first action of the season, he should of had 2 td passes, i thought he looked good. Wake...dude looks like a horse comin out the gate, beautiful stance ala Larry english, but needs to not be so fixated on the rush, JT needs to work with this dude and teach him how to play with his head up, but what freakin trajectory and extension on his turn ehh? Why are running game does'nt look right, well, i have my theories and i think they all contribute as to why. Chad pennington..Iam gonna say this....If this regime doesnt make the wildcat a significant part of this teams offensive philosophy, then Chad P will not be nearly as sucessful running the proset imo. Theres no question in my mind that the wildcat has to stretch the defense out horizontally, so the running game can get that space. Was it 8 in the box on obvious running downs in that 1st quarter?... Ive said this before, the reason why Ronnie is born to run the cat, is because he does everything himself, and a different skillset comes out, one that loves the formation dearly. he does'nt seem comfortable running behind a fullback. Speaking of fullbacks, Lousaka polite...on top of what i just said, Iam not sure Lousaka is a good lead blocker, starting to get more film on this guy, i think we need to watch him closer to see if hes really an asset, despite his nine, one yard runs. Which leads me to Lex Hilliard...gotta give CK props on this one, WHY CANT SOMEONE TEACH THIS KID HOW TO BLOCK, so we can keep him on the 53 ..5'11 240, with quickness, skill and power..if he wants to be a Miami dolphin then his mother grabbin *** better learn how to block some. I mean, how much are we playing offense with a lead blocker anyways? not sure of that one. ????: ThePHINS.com - Miami Dolphins Forums http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?p=801006 Pat white, thought he had a pretty decent first preseason game, nice, clean center exchanges, threw the ball with good velocity, and most importantly to me, continued to be himself, not try to be what some think he cant be. WCQBX will be his position...According to espn, "Pat white struggled going 2 for 9 for 14 yards".....thats a direct quote. Idiots. Sean Smith....Can you say Two way player. My brother Alen is in his glory. Vontae Davis...iam gonna be in the minority in this one, but the guy got 1 ticky tack penalty, and yes, the other was his fault, but i saw closing speed on the play, i also saw him come off the edge and stick the running back... come on man, It aint like the guy got beat.. he had a poor mental game...a dose of humility will be good for him. Rick had some pop tonite, looks better then he did this time last year, also looks a little thicker... and ran like it. Jason Allen...he played disiplined football, i repeat, Jason played disciplined football, won the game for us basically on a play that took some mentals to execute. Will allen, Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, Jason Allen, Nate jones, those are my five as of now, and with the performance of eric green which is looking like a desperate free agent signing that did not have much conviction behind it, i'll stick with that 5, until he shows us somethin... I have no idea what to do with Chris williams...lets see him in 3 more games before we decide..if he gets better at that job, then i have no idea what to do, lol...good call Padre. One thing i keep hearing that is disheartening is that, we dont wanna be known for, that we cant run the ball without the wildcat.. it seems like they {oline} might be taking it as an insult when the formation is called, i surely hope not, where is the ownership... Overall it was a good night, See ya on saturday ya'll.
Could you expand a bit on the Pennington issue? Last year the game against the Bills in the dome, the Bills seemed to do quite a bit of 8 in the box, 1 safety deep on first down. Pennington threw a TD to Fasano on the first drive if I remember correctly. I don't think that Pennington is a great deep ball thrower, but I think he and the coaching staff can make plays against cover 1. To me it boils down to play calling. You want the other team to put 8 in the box to stop the run. That leaves Ginn and Bess singled up, if it's man coverage. If you miss a tackle on Ginn or Bess and they have some space.. watch out. Also I was under the impression that the Wildcat was an attempt to get Ronnie and Ricky on the field at the same time. Am I mistaken? I do agree that it does stretch the field horizontally though, and I think you make a ton of excellent points.
WildCat/SingleWing is the ultimate running formation designed to facilitate four RB's in the backfield, including the QB (who is the captain & the passing running back) in the backfield, any of which can take a direct snap from center. Having White, Williams Brown & Cobbs in the same backfield & not knowing who will receive the direct snap should be an experience.
Good thread/analysis Bro, all in all a decent first preseason game IMO. Biggest disappointment to me was the 1st string OL in the standard set running game. They have two "new" players in there, so I'll give them another couple games to gel as a unit.
Ted Ginn looked faster and quicker then I've ever seen him. He looks much more decisive and much better in his route running. I think he's going to be a huge part of our offense this season. I'm so excited for it!
sure..I think the unpredictibilty of the wildcat offense makes Chad a better qb in the proset, he seems to integrate his own strengths off the hesitation that it creates on defenders...Just like any great running game will help any qb, because of how a QB plays off play action, the wildcat proved to be its own version of a great running game. something that our proset could not muster, for various reasons. After the arizona game, we could not run the football up until then, and Chad henne was warmin up on the sideline..After the wildcat was instilled, we spanked the patriots, reeled off 10 of 11 and Chad P was nfl mvp runner up..Coincidence?...not to me Chad P needs it, because of how a defense plays him without it. Now iam not sayin that he, and the oline cant get us to the promise land without it, iam just sayin that he and ronnie brown become much more dangerous with it.
Great analysis, Dj. Good to hear that JA played well. Liked what I heard about JP and JT, lord knows we need them this season. Btw, What the hell happened to Matt Roth? I haven't heard a thing about him for a while now.
Well Rosenhaus said he will hopefully practice this week but other than some "mental" reps and running on the sideline, Roth hasn't done much.
your guess is as good as anyones Raffie, personally, when i saw JT at the OTA's, saw his size and quickness, realized that it didnt look like he lost a step, The roth settin the edge arguement was over for me.
Yea, I think JT can be pretty good at SOLB. He can, at least, provide a pass rush that Roth could not. I think he will be better in coverage, as well. If JT can set the edge well enough, he may be our starter at SOLB week 1.
