Or maybe Mike Sims Walker. He would be a tremendous upgrade.

    gone  pretty much
the real question is will this defeat wake up Sparano in time to do what should have been done in game four?
cannot do things (mistakes) in the same way expecting different results
Sparano is responsible for getting this thing right
    bench Henne:thanx:

Anybody else see this crazy thing?: The last time the Dolphins beat a team outside the AFC East that finished the season above .500 was in 2006 when they beat the Chiefs. That's horrible. Saw that on Darlington's twitter.

That will probably change with the Packers on a roll, so we can erase that pathetic stat. Still can't hang with the top teams of the AFC though, even after all these years.

No, but they did have the leading rushing attack and the leading defense at this point. We've got the leading kicker in the NFL. I'd take their problems over ours. We're 28th in PPG. We're 31st in TDs scored. Something has got to give, because this is not sustainable.
That is absolutely horrible. You'd expect to see that stat mentioned with the Lions or Browns.

Well, most recall Jim Mora's "playoffs?!?!" statement.

    I preferred Tony Dungy's:

"We have not been eliminated from anything"

That is my attitude moving forwards, we have not been eliminated, we can still make the playoffs and the team should play like it and I expect them to play like it as well.

I disagree that playoff hopes are gone. The AFC is very balanced this season. That makes it much more likely that the record needed to get in will be lower not higher. I would say that the odds are much higher in favor of an 8-8 team getting in than they are of the lowest playoff team needing 11-5 to get in. I would expect that the lowest playoff team will be at either 9-7 or 10-6.

As for teams collapsing, I don't think that's unlikely either. IMO the Pats are not that good. I thought Miami outplayed them in 2 out of 3 phases in their match-up. And NE has gotten outplayed in at least two other games as well, not including the Cleveland game since I didn't watch it. The Jets I do believe are a good team, but they have a QB who has thrown a ton of passes into defender's hands. A few of those get caught and the Jets are on a losing streak too. And Miami still has games against both of those teams.

Miami has to play better if they are going to take advantage of some losses by those division opponents but that hardly seems impossible since they have played well at times this season.

    WTF ? :confused1:

Dude, its virtually impossible to make the playoffs with a 1-2 division record, and a 2-4 conference record, as a matter of fact we may have already been eliminated. You tell me how we win a playoff spot. Yeah we win all 8 remaining games ? Suuuuuurree........we would have to go 6-2 and those losses would have to be non-AFC teams (Detroit & Chicago). How likely are we to lose to those two and win all the rest ? Dude the playoffs are a pipe dream at best. This season is done.

Is conference record the 1st tiebreaker ? If it is, we are totally on life-support already for the playoffs.

Head to head I believe. But what's it matter, you already said the season is done. Now we're on life support?

For all intents and purpose it is done. When someone is on life support most of the time they're done.

Yes if the Dolphins manage to end up in a tie it will come down to conference record. Division record for the division if we somehow end up in a tie for first, but that's only likely if we beat the Bills, Patriots and Jets. Losing to one would be a killer for that. [would hurt conference as well]

It would take a miracle to run the table, that's probably not happening. The Dolphins are right now ranked below the 4 division leaders, plus: Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Texans, Raiders, Jaguars[they have a better AFC record]. The Chargers and Browns also have better AFC records, but not overall records, though they are close enough.

The only way you can see the Dolphins making the playoffs at 10-6 is losing 2 to the NFC teams or possibly 1 AFC/1 NFC with help. Losing 2 more AFC games would be it.

We're down two games with eight to go. And we still have games against the two teams ahead of us in the division. If we beat NE and NY, all you need is for those to lose two more games than us. If you think its impossible for us to go 6-2 and for them to go 4-4 over the last 8 games then you haven't watched the NFL.

The problem is that all the so called "easy" games don't appear so easy anymore.

Tennessee, NYJ and NE we knew were good.

At this point, Oakland is a toss up. Hell, even Cleveland is playing pretty well, particularly on defense.

The only game left on the schedule that I feel 100% confident in is buffallo, probably Detroit as well.

Welcome to the NFL. There are no gimmes and you can't pencil in wins and losses before the season and expect to be right. On the bright side, I wouldn't feel 100% confident that NE or the Jets will win any of their games either.

I'm not giving up yet. We have 2 home games coming up within 4 days of eachother and I expect us to bounce back and start winning these games at home.

The team has enough talent to make the playoffs. The coaching staff will have to grow a set. That's what's going to determine our fate for the rest of the season.

How smooth is it 5 of the 8 teams have a better record than us as of today. The browns just beat 2 quality teams the pats and the saints two weeks in a row something we have not accomplished in the last two years.

Saints are not that good of a team so far this season, and I called the Browns win in the "upset special" thread.

Give Rob Ryan 2 weeks to prepare for a Mossless Patrtiots offense and give the Browns an beast Running Back in Peyton Hillis back and the results are not that surprising.

    Can they keep it up?

Don't hold your breath, the Lions also are on the verge of losing Stafford for the season with a bum shoulder and yeah, things will go more smoothly.

Titans game is a grinch, no way to avoid it, we simply have to win it against a Vince Young with a bad ankle.

Are you one of those people that would rather go 4-12 than 12-4 because of the draft pick?

No, but I'm not getting my hopes up like I did last year for the playoffs, when we currently have these teams in front of us: Ravens, Jets, Patriots, Steelers, Chiefs, Titans, Colts, Texans, Raiders, Jaguars. And Miami can't score Touchdowns.

I would love for Miami to run the table, but one TD a game won't do it. And the Dolphins haven't been 12-4 since 1990, so it's not looking too good for this team when it didn't even happen with Marino after '90. The most realistic would be 10-6, 11-5 would be a shock, and 12-4 would be a flat out miracle.

I hope they destroy the Titans, but they haven't exactly given much hope that they will. This Sunday they have a chance to prove to the fans that they aren't going to go down easy.

CamCam was 1-15 there was no way in hell he was keeping his job. And I would have to wait til the end of the season to form an opinion but right now I am leaning towards Tony better get his head out of his bumhole... really soon or he can take a hike.
