pretty weak fight by Big Country...Kimbo hit him with some good shots and I think Big Country was a little surprised so he had to get the fight to the ground...hopefully Kimbo will be back soon as I think he would have a much better shot against someone around his own weight...i really enjoyed rampage this week btw so funny, when he had kimbo's hairdo at the end i was cracking up

Wow. So how difficult is it for all of you to kiss Kimbo's apple bag at the same time?

The dude lost. No big deal. You guys act like he got cheated. Sounds to me like Mr. Fatass used an appropriate strategy. Play to your strengths.

You sound like a merry fat guy after that statement.

You really can't say fatboy had a legitimate stoppage.

Not to mention that the fact that he and his team had to plan out shouting out the punch count as a strategy to help stop the fight quickly, was extremely gay.

Deliverance acted like he was accepting a grammy or something with that speech afterwards. That was the only thing that really annoyed me.

big country manipulated the rule big time. if you could judge all fights fairly, he having kimbo in a crucifix, one of the most devastating positions there is, was harmless and ueless. he may as well have laid in his guard and did nothing. the ref should stood them up, nelson's punches were so weak. i think dana summed it up best.

then again, you cant change things much, because someone else could get hurt.
    nice try kimbo!

  6. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Where did I use the word outrage? Its just that no one is giving the winner of the fight an real props for winning. Mocking his strategy to pretty much lean on Kimbo seems silly. When you have a weight advantage, what good is it if you don't exploit it? Is he supposed to do flying knee strikes of death or something? Something tells me that isn't his game...

And you sound like a pathetic loser after this statement. See? I can resort to name calling too. You ****ing baby.

Let me ask you something, it Sparano was in the refs ear pointing out that on every play, the opposing team's linemen were holding, would it be a "gay" strategy? No. It would be him looking out for his team and trying to gain an advantage where he can. No different in calling out the punch count.

And clearly it wasn't the only thing that annoyed you since you pointed out other things in your post.

I am not a big fan of MMA anymore as it seems to have become incredibly boring to me. But I know a good strategy when i see one. Typically, I find that MMA fans, and fight fans in general, are pretty well educated and can tend to give credit where credit is due, even if their fighter in on the losing end.

Much moreso than say, football fans who look for any little excuse to hold on to, or basketball fans who are by far, the biggest culprit of crying foul, calling out the refs, etc.

It is just surprising to see this coming from MMA fans is all.

Well I guess some WWF fans might not have as much interest in an actual sport which doesn't involve soap opera.. I mean dramatic storylines written in. Maybe the lack of spandex has something to do with it.

Your analogy of lardass' win to Sparano calling out holding penalties isn't accurate. Penalties can change a game, but rarely does one penalty ever give a team a W.

If you followed MMA more, you would know that the referees and the judging is the biggest problem in the sport.

Let me say that again; the sport. A sport shouldn't involve a strategy as pathetic as lardass'. What the whole gameplan he had with his team was saying is, "I can't beat Kimbo straight up, so I'm gonna try to win like a coward and hope the ref can be tricked." The best part was that after he actually does win like that, he tries to act like he just had the most impressive victory in TUF history. lol "Dana, guys, thank you for coming out.." lol Ya, thanks for coming out to watch me lay my belly on Kimbos face and glance the top of his head for a few mins. Real impressive.

So yea, that seems pretty foul if you ask me.

Wow. I truly am flattered Slick. I had no idea you were SUCH a fan of me! I mean, knowing about how I watch pro wrestling, something I don't really talk about outside of one particular thread. You must really enjoy me a lot!

Maybe I should start a twitter page so that you could have more access to me? After all, judging by your avatar, you seem to follow many men around. But hey, that is not for me to judge.

I will say that your thinly veiled pot shots at me really need some work. The only real eye opening thing that I have discovered from them is that I gave you too much credit as a poster previously. I suppose that is my bad.

Its okay though. Just warm up that bottle, hug your Kimbo doll EXTRA tight tonight and it will all be okay in the morning. I promise. The bad man who beat him was just an illusion. It never really happened. :wink2:

lol So I guess this is plan b since you had no answer to my last post?

I take a jab at your wrestling fandom and you get all bent out of shape. Relax, nobody wants to discuss you. We were all talking about what a ****ty fight that was until you stopped by to start a discussion/argument. So like I said:

What's your answer to that? Nobody said it's an outrage (or maybe they did) and nobody said it was cheating. But I think the majority of people will agree that it was an extremely gay way to win following an ugly performance.

And if you giving me too much credit = me posting logical info to go along with my arguments, then yes, you gave me too much credit.

And Again, Rampage is the freakin' man, seriously that guy needs his own tv show. By the time this season is over Dana is gonna look pretty foolish for losing him if he doesn't have things resolved.

Kimbo didn't let his hands go like he should have, he was far to tentative. What was with the jumping knee while Nelson was pushing him backwards? That was a HUGE mistake. It cost him the fight.

IMO, Kimbo REALLY needs to make a move down to LHW. He'd be one of the biggest and strongest guys at LHW, and he might not get pushed around and taken down so easily.

implying people are on kimbos nuts would pretty much mean to me that we are some how outraged or severly angry at big country and what happened. If thats not what you meant then maybe you should choose your words more carefully in the future. And using leverage is one thing, laying on a guy and hitting him with weak *** shots is a whole other, which makes for a crappy fight. Which from what I read is everyones gripe. Maybe you should jump of big countrys nuts.

You're the one that started with the name calling like a petulant child, not me. And after watching that fight again, it really should have been stopped in the first round. Kimbo wasn't working, or at least showed absolutely no signs of working towards the end. Even if they let the fight go, he wasn't going to win on the cards.

Country's strategy was sound. Whether you like it or not, it works and was completely legal. He is a big fat guy, and thus, he took his big fatness, and layed it on top of Kimbo to tire him out and neutralize the strengths of Kimbo's game. How is that gay? Because you thought the fight was boring? Because the guy you wanted to win lost?

And I could care less about you "jabbing" me about wrestling. Most of the people in this thread enjoy it too. It is something I used to do for a living (as well as MMA). I doubt, very seriously, that you would ever have the stones to step into either arena.

But by all means, continue pretending to know what you are talking about. It is quite amusing to me.

No, actually, Kimbo lost, not me. And perhaps Sparano should employ such strategies. Maybe then we would have something in the win column other than a goose egg. Let me put it another way. A lot of people say that the Wildcat is cheap, or gimmick-y and not real football.

We have relied heavily on it to win games last year and to keep us in games this year. Does that cheapen what Miami did last year in anyway/ Does our playoff appearance not count because we relied on something out of the ordinary? I don't think it does. I think its great that they found a way to get it done within the rulebook.

Just so we are clear, I was hoping that Kimbo would win. I thought he showed a lot of class in going to TUF when he realistically, could have signed a big money contract with another organization and fought bums for a few years. Dana White challenged him, and he accepted it. Very humble guy with an interesting story.

I could give two ****s about Big Country. However I will give him credit for fighting a good fight (in terms of doing what he needed and wanted to do). I'm not going to penalize him for winning, like others are.

So if that is me being on his nuts, than so be it. At least I am on the nuts of the winner... :shifty:

CAlling a crappy win a crappy win is in no way penalizing, nor is it jumping on anyones nuts. If I'm on kimbos nuts just for calling big countrys tactics and the fight bad, then you are on big country's nuts for calling it good. It cuts both ways.

Fine by me. At least I have winner's nuts that I am on.
And again, I never said that the fight wasn't crappy. I just don't think his strategy was. A rhino charges because its big and huge and has a horn on the front of its skull. In essence, he charges because that is his best chance of being successful.

Country is big and fat and heavy. Which means his opponent will exert a ton of energy to try and get out from underneath him. In essence, he lays on people because it gives him his best chance of being successful. You could see it when Kimbo nearly hit that switch in the first round. He used all of his energy to try and get our from underneath him, only to fall just short and end up tired, motionless and getting punched in the head (regardless of how weak or not those punches were).

    Sound strategy on Country's part.

he won, sure. sound strategy if he was a two ton rhino in the wilderness fighting off a cheetah, sure. This is mma fighting though. You will excuse me if I don't applaud the guys who just win, and do so by laying on their opponent hoping for a punch count. Its a weak way to win.

    Exactly.

FTR, wasn't that you coming in here talking about how we were all on Kimbo's nuts? I'd go on to tell you how big of stones I have, but I don't really see the need to prove what a tough guy I am on the internet.

Anyways, Kimbo dominated the stand up in both rounds. He wouldn't need to win on the cards bc Country looked ready to go in the 2nd. Kimbo just made a dumb mistake of trying for the knee when he could of just thrown a few uppercuts and side-stepped him.

If that fight didn't go back to the ground, I see no way Country could of survived. I definitely agree with whoever mentioned that Kimbo should move down to LHW.

That fight was a joke and it was Dean's fault.

He needed to stand them up when Kimbo gained a stalemate when he got mounted.

Seriously.....you mount your opponent and don't throw a punch for almost 40 seconds? Stand them up.

unfortunately, you simply cant stand someone up when they have such a superior position. full-mount and especially a crucifex, you just cant stand that up. although nelson really was doing nothing with it...9999 out of 10000 fighters do actual damage from that spot.

What they could do is implement some sort of clock or time limit before the ref stands them up.

It seems like they allow too much room for error with what is or isn't a stalemate. Too much room for interpretation by the ref.

Kimbo gave up his arm. Kimbo went for a knee when Roy had him clinched and was trying for a take down. He did this after being saved by the buzzer when Roy had him in the same position the round before. Kimbo lost by his actions. You cannot have someone rain unblockable, punches onto someone’s head for three minutes strait, no matter how short or weak they looked. Punch yourself lightly in the head for a solid 1 minute and tell me how you feel.

All that being said, Kimbo looked better than I thought he would. He gets his ground game cleaned up, and he could be a decent mid-carder, I would definitely watch him again.

If someone is still working and isn't hurt, then the fight shouldn't be stopped.

Those taps by Country were doing nothing. They don't stop fights for half-finished submissions so why stop for punches that aren't doing anything.

Kimbo was still working and didn't appear to be hurt so why stop it? Stand them up.

Yes, sir. Roy Nelson is a big fat turd.

I was thoroughly disgusted by his begging for the stop of the fight at the end of round 1. He wasn't concerned that he was hurting his opponent, that fat bastard just wanted a cheap, easy win.

Look at what he said about the fight:

Big Country is a dishonorable POS and I will root against his fat, lazy *** every fight I see him in from here on out.
