Good point about the puck possession. Yeah, I would but worried if I was a Wings fan, ALTHOUGH if you'd told me 6 months ago that Martin Biron, Marc-André Fleury, Chris Osgood, and say, Marty Turco were the starting goaltenders for the conference finals, I wouldn't have believed you, so who knows lol.

Jesus Mike, all you did was whine through this whole series.

Calls went both ways. You had a goal taken away that squirted through Fleury's legs, but you got a gift goal on a high stick redirect. We had a goal not called on the play before the Malkin penalty shot in game 4. Avery slashed Crosby in the face and it wasn't called, Drury got slashed and it wasn't called.

Calls end up evening out during the course of a series. Learn how to lose with some class and dignity, will you?

Thank the Goddess that the Rangers are finally done. Hopefully Philly fans will win OR lose without being crybabies.

    Man...what a final Pens/Wings would be huh?

Anyone see the save Nabokov made in overtime tonight? Save of the year, bar none.

Stars v. Sharks is still on well into the 3rd overtime. Brad Richards has been EXCELLENT.

    STARS!!!

I'm frickin' exhausted (elated, but exhausted), but in the 4th OT, Morrow's tip-in wins it. What an unbelievable game. Nabokov was a wall, but Turco - with his 62 saves - was amazing as well. Great chances for both teams, but the Stars win the one they had to have. Way to sack up guys! It was all will when you're playing that long. And Brendan Morrow is an A-one stud! Richards was great as well.

Don't even really have the words for this one. Just happy and thankful for the win. I'm going to enjoy this one before even thinking about the Wings.

    Yeah Yeah Yeah Stars!!!

    Great hockey game.

All of Marty Turco's demons have been exorcised. Dude was ON tonight.

Wings v. Stars will be very interesting.

A series like this is what makes playoff hockey what it is!

For the couple of Red Wings fans, and the one Stars fan (me) on this thread, if you're interested, here are the transcripts from the WCF Conference Calls. The first one is Dave Tippett and Mike Bab****:

    http://andrewsstarspage.com/ADSPBlog/pivot/entry.php?id=1144#body

The second one is Marty Turco/Brenden Morrow and Henrik Zetterberg:

    http://andrewsstarspage.com/ADSPBlog/pivot/entry.php?id=1145#body

Red Wings are the favorites in this one, and I think they expected to see either Anaheim or San Jose, but... whoops... you get the Dallas Stars instead. If recent history serves, that should put a smile on your face. Of course, from a Stars' perspective, you throw history out the window and focus on these four to seven games and hope for a little revisionist history going forward.

Turco has exorcised his playoff demons, but somehow there's always a new batch of those imps, and now it's the Red Wings demons he has to face down. Won't be easy because the Red Wings come in waves, and they're so good with the puck. All their lines can score and are pretty good at both ends. The Stars have their work cut out for them.

But then I figured all roads would lead through Detroit for us. At this point, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Good luck, Wing fans, although you know I don't mean that in the least. :shifty:

    Pagan need a favour.

    You have 2 options

    1. Get Dominizzo here. I want to see you scrap over Philly-Pitt

    2. Go to FH and straighten him out

PS: This series is now over with Timmonen gone for the series. Philly would have had a tough time anyways but you can't lose your best defensive defencemen versus the high flying Pens

Yep. The wings were just better tonight by a long shot. I wish I could blame it on fatigue or something, but the Stars have had a few days rest now. Detroit was just plain the better team from start to finish last night.

The Stars really need to go hard Saturday and come out with a split or this thing's gonna be looking pretty ugly pretty fast. Need to keep reminding myself it was just one game, but history plays a part in the Stars/Wings battles - and that's not a good thing for the Stars.

I know! it was driving me insane, the idiots for commentators on TSN kept blaming the stars lackluster performance on fatigue from the OT game that was... FOUR DAYS AGO. They didnt give an ounce of credit to Detroit's play. Im impressed thats for sure. I havent seen Detroit playing hockey this good in quite some time. If they can get through Dallas, I see a Detroit/Pittsburgh Cup Final, which i think would be great for the league. As a Wings fan, I may be a bit worried though. Cant rely on Defense alone against Crosby, Malkin and the rest of the pens' scorers. Would make for a great cup final though i think! Of course, im getting way ahead of myself here, but... just saying.

If Philly keeps trying to run & gun with the Pens, this series will be REALLY short. They just don't have the firepower. They need to play more physical or the brooms will come out.

I have to agree about Malkin's slapshot the other night, that was incredible.
    and...

GO WINGS GO!!! 6 more!!!! Im really hoping Ribeiro gets some sort of punishment from the league for his two handed chop with his stick to osgood at the end of the game too. Sure Ozzy went down and may have embellished a little bit, but thats unacceptable in my opinion to just swing at a guy with your stick.

It was more like a check swing not a swing.

Ozzy did more than embellish. The acting was Hasek like

The only reason I want Dallas to win is Detroit reminds me of New Jersey back in the day ie. BORING HOCKEY

a check swing? please.. Fact of the matter is he swung his stick at another player. I dont care if its not at full power or not, it doesnt matter, its unacceptable.

I agree, osgood did indeed overreact. As a result of this mess, Ott, Ribeiro and Osgood were all fined by the league.

Anyhow, no sense in arguing, its over and done with now.

Now, now, Rocky....if the Pens are the rectal apertures, and they just spit the Cryers out for two games, what does that make Philly?

Hmmm...what comes spitting out of rectal apertures? ;)

5 to go... thats right... count em down boys. 5 to go till the wings bring the cup back to detroit  Another nice win for them tonight. Dallas really outplayed them at the start, I think the Wings are just too good for them though. The things Datsyuk and Zetterberg do on the ice, its just incredible sometimes.

dallas actually played very well in stretches... but what we're doing now is capitalizing on our chances... we're not squandering opportunities and its a beautiful thing... we didn't absolutely dominate this game like the scoreboard shows, but we took advantage of any chance we had to put the puck in the net...

osgood is playing well also... we're just playing complete games and we are on a ****ing roll right now... woooo bring on either of these pennsylvanian teams, neither of em is ready for the wings...

Pens v. Wings will be an all timer, perhaps the best Final since Canucks v. Rangers.....at least it has the ingredients.

A puck possession/high skill/VERY responsible defensive team against an up tempo/young and hungry team. I'm looking forward to it because the last 2 rounds have been pretty damn vanilla after an outstanding first round.

I'm not counting out the Flyers yet but it isn't looking too good. The Penguins are beating us pretty good up and down the ice in all phases of the game. They really need to step up their game and match Pittsburgh's intensity.

NHL = in existence 91 years.
Teams that have come back from 0-3 in the playoffs = 2

Let it go Rocky.....let it go.

Seriously, I'm amazed at how bad the Flyers are playing. The turnovers they're committing are mindboggling.

Yeah, that was a bad call. Zetterberg was all class and still all business about it after the game. Credit to him.

The Stars needed something to get them going. They finally played a better game, but going to the Joe down 1-3 for them is like walking into an incinerator with a hose and a couple of ice buckets hoping to douse the flames. While I'd love to see them do it, I just don't have much hope. Detroit has been the better team in the series, and really it hasn't been that close. I suppose it'd instill a little confidence if they prolonged the series after Saturday and got to play at least one more playoff game in Dallas, but this is an Everest-sized hill. Hope to get Lehtinen back, but that looks doubtful, too.

That pathetic call turned that entire game around. The NHL really needs to deal with their officials at some point this off season, and change some rules around. Its the playoffs. theres no need for an obvious goal to be disallowed. If we can review goals scored by a high stick, which can be impossible to determine, why can we not review a goal that its plain as day to see if a player was in the crease or not??

That and these "hooking" and "holding" calls need to be addressed... they call penalties for the slightest hooks, or holds... yet Steve Downie is allowed to completely level Sykora with a clearly late hit after a goal was scored. Its pretty sad to see... It's a shame for Downie too, I watched him here in Windsor when he played for the Spitfires in juniors... I watched him win Golds for team Canada at the World Jr's... and he was never that type of player, always feisty, but never cheap and dirty like that. Something needs to be done about crap like that though.. .

It's a series. Stars are going back to Dallas down 2-3 after the 2-1 win over the Wings.

Hopefully, Turco exorcised some demons today and the Stars' confidence should be sky high heading back to the AAC. That place should be rocking come Monday night.

I still think Detroit looks like the better team overall, but Dallas is now doing the little things both on defense and offense that help win games. A little luck hasn't hurt either. And now, I hope, a little pressure falls on Detroit. Dallas is playing a little better hockey. If there was any question as to whether the last series was still fatiguing them, the Stars are definitely over it now. Both teams have had key injuries with Franzen and Lehtinen out for a couple games.

    Game 6 should be fun.

well that certainly sucked. It was still a great season and a very unexpected one from the Flyers and the future is extremely bright. We'll be right back in the race next year...bank on that.

Congrats to the Penguins and their fans on the series and reaching the Stanley Cup...they abused us all series long and were clearly the better team...good luck in the Finals.
