We are discussing last year? Why are we doing that, it was last year.

The Flyers are a younger team and will only get better. Does this mean that the Bruins are an older team and are getting worse? If you want to get in a "my team is young and up and coming" arguement a Bruins fan is not the person you will win the argument with.

    Phil Kessel - 21
    David Krejci - 22
    Milan Lucic - 20
    Blake Wheeler - 22
    Dennis Wideman - 25
    Patrice Bergeron - 24
    Mark Stuart - 24
    Matt Hunwick - 23

I'm concerned about the Bruins being TOO young and not having the playoff chops to get it done this year. We'll see in April.

That is two lines and half a defense corp of guys getting top line minutes, all under the age of 25. Throw in future #1 goalie Tuukka Rask as well as Joe Colborne and Zach Hamill and the future is FAR from the concerns of any Bruins fan.

BTW...how is that never ending search for a goaltender going in Philly?

I'm not saying the flyers will get to the conference games again; but I know they were there last year. At this point I'm almost expecting them to be bounced by someone because their power play has gone soft (despite the short handed goals on PKs) and they can't ever clear the zone which is horrible.

Also, if Timonen goes out the flyers are screwed big time. His first game back was last night (out for 4) and it was very, very noticeable.

If that goalie is that bad why not get rid of him and get someone else?

I didn't mean to say the bruins were old I meant to say the flyers are young. It wasn't a knock at the bruins but a push for the flyers. I don't know much about hockey outside of the flyers because I'm not crazy about it like i am with football.

I know the flyers are very young and looking over our roster we have just as many young guys as you listed. look. (although I don't know if they're getting top minutes with the exception of richards, carter, lupul).

    Giroux
    Nodl
    Richards
    Carter
    Coburn
    Cote
    Lupul
    Powe
    Upshall
    Carle
    Parent

Search for goalie? Painful. I don't think they're horrible but we could be better. I miss hextall that's for sure.

That schmuck has 24 goals, 40 assists and 60 points. He would be 3rd on the Flyers behind only Mike Richards and Jeff Carter in scoring. He also leads the NHL in +/- with a +33.

Our "other goalie" leads the NHL in goals against average and save percentage, I'm pretty comfy with him in a match up with whatever guy the Flyers put in net.

    anlgp ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A

I was chastised already with the schmuck comment.

And the flyers can beat them that have twice this year. The game the bruins won was on deflected goals to which any team can score. That game was tied 1-1 going into the third and the two bruins goals were off of flyers players. oo, impressive. anyone in the NHL get lucky with those (the flyers had one last night case and point).

put the other goalie in again i'm still not scared. we can bounce pucks off your guys and into the net, too.

After 20 minutes against the flames the flyers are kicking their own *** :pity:

    4-0.

You want to talk about bad hockey just watch those 20 minutes on behalf of the flyers. Pure garbage.

Too. Many. Turnovers. At. Their. Own. Blueline.

That's what happens when you only show up for 20 minutes. The entire team was out to lunch for the first 2/3rds of the hockey game. For the most part they played with no sense of urgency.

Honestly, I think it might be a good thing that they came out flying in the 3rd period and couldn't tie the game. I think a goal there would have re-enforced their bad habits, specifically, checking out (mentally and physically) for stretches of the game.

This is a pathetic display by Manny today in New York. What the hell happened to this guy? The late goal to put the Rangers ahead 4-3 was inexcusable.

To hell with Fernandez, give his ice time to Rask. He's been pathetic since returning from that back injury.

I did not get today's game in my area because the two NBC affiliates that I get chose not to show it...VERY annoying since the NHL brought the hammer down on all the free feeds I had.

I'm going to go ahead and say it... the Bruins suck.

At this point its safe to say that their recent struggles are more than just a "blip on the radar". More likely, the young guys played way over their heads for that 2 month (or so) stretch back in November and have simply come back down to earth.

Unfortunately, I believe this struggling team is the one we'll see down the stretch and into the playoffs. And if that is indeed the case, then the #1 seed is in jeopardy and it certainly opens the door for another early exit in April.

It is not good right now at ALL, nothing is going right. The powerplay has been pathetic for 2 months and the scoring has disappeared.

That said, I don't think it's a "played over their heads" thing. I think a couple of factors come into play...

1.) They have had a HUGE lead in the division for 3 months. It's the coasting effect. They have had to play an intense "playoff style" game in months. Meanwhile, they are playing teams that are fighting for their lives and as much as they try they can't get their intensity up to that level. This is a REAL issue and will be the #1 thing Julien has to fix.

They are in their first patch of adversity all year and are not reacting to it very well. I'm almost hoping New Jersey passes them in the standings (which looks likely at this point) and Julien can use that to motivate them.

2.) Goaltending. Tim Thomas has been great, no complaints there. That said, the only way they can win right now is with him in between the pipes. Manny F can not be trusted. This is very dangerous because it will lead to Timmy being overworked and when he gets overworked he becomes very average.

3.) Everyone is struggling all at once. David Krejci, Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic, Mike Ryder, Chuck Kobasew, Andrew Ference, Blake Wheeler and some extent Dennis Wideman....they are all in either in slumps or MISERABLE slumps at the same time. I've learned in hockey that you are going to have guys slump, even great players go through it. What you hope for is you only have a few guys going through it (at the most) at a time. Others can pick up the slack but right now60% of the skaters are horrible, that will not continue.

I'm not jumping off a bridge....YET. That said, I would like to see signs of life from them in the next 2 weeks. Whoever they end up playing in the first round will be a team that has had to fight for everything to get into the playoffs and will be battle tested.

Flyers had a beautiful goal to tie up the game in the second I hope we mop the floor with the caps face in the remainder of the game.

The flyers have 6 players with 20 or more goals. Do you?

That's the one team i would not want to face in the east playoffs. We all knew they played great defense and goaltending, but this year their scoring.

Parise has been a monster, as with Langenbrunner.

Parise made a good devils team a scary one. He should be in the talks for MVP in my opinion.

And my boy Kyle Okposo keeps trucking along. Goal #17 tonight in only his 58th game. 3 GW's for a horrible team too, tonight would have been a 4th if not for a late game meltdown.

I posted a scenario I find interesting for the draft, not sure how realistic but Id love it....
Isles should have the 1st overall so Taveres should be the pick there. Anyone thing the Isles trading Anaheim's 1st (acquired from Ottawa for Campoli and Comrie) + 3 2nds could get the Isles back up to #2 overall to draft hedman? Id even include Witt or Radek Martinek in that scenario to create a roster spot...

I can not begin to stress how massive that effort against the Devils was today. It's as big a regular season win the Bruins have had in a long time.

....the Devils still scare the hell out of me. I want no part of them in the playoffs.
