He's under contract beyond the 2010 summer at about $5 million. Honestly, we'll be loaded with or without him under contract. But it'd help to have that extra buck to offer.

Also, from the Suns forums: Numerous posters heard this for confirmation...

On one of the sports talk radio shows in Phoenix a Suns analyst confirmed that Miami and Phoenix have exchanged many proposals. Miami has reportedly "low balled" Phoenix in offering Marion and draft choices for Amare. Phoenix sent a proposal to Miami that centered around Amare, Beasley, and Marion which was turned down by Pat Riley. "Riley seems unwilling to move Beasley for any player not named LeBron James or Dwight Howard. He's been deemed as untouchable as Dwyane Wade in all discussions."

He did go onto say that Miami is the preferred destination for Amare in 2010 according to sources close to him.

    EDIT: Dumb idea. Disregard.

There's no way Chandler opts out of $13.2 million in 2010.

You know what.. I do that deal and become a defensive force for at least the next two years.

    Worry about 2010 in 2010.

    G - Chalmers / Quinn
    G - Wade / Cook
    F - Jones / Butler
    F - Haslem / Beasley
    C - Chandler / Magloire

Best defensive starting line-up in the NBA. Pure fire power off the bench.

    * I added Rasual Butler as the necessary filler.

Chandler is probably a 12/10 with 2 blocks type of guy in this system.

HE ABSOLUTELY OPTS OUT at 13 million in 2010.

He is worth much more than a 1 year deal at that point in his career.

    He will be under 30.

Yep. That's why I followed up with an acceptance in the following post. I re-considered a bit and looked into the long run of things. It's 1-year at $13 million vs. what he's probably worth, which is 5-years / $50 million or something. I think you go for the guaranteed money.

2010 will be huge for players like Joe Johnson, Chandler, and a few others. There are so many teams that are building up cash, that there will be a ton of losers who end up overpaying for second level group. IMO, every single player in the NBA (under 30 and a worthy starter) with an opt out clause.....opts out. Easily.

While Chandler is a great option for us, if we can't get rid of Banks in the deal, I probably opt for Jermaine. Toronto has to take on Banks to match salaries. With New Orleans, we'd be the ones taking on an extra player.

According to my guy, Pat Riley already knows who he is planning on moving Marion for. What he's trying to do is get a third team involved. That could be where the Chris Wilcox thing came from, Sec.

And I do want to add one thing: the Amare interest is 100% genuine.

I'm going to go ahead and bet on Miami being involved in a 3 or 4 team trade, whether it's for Amare, J.O., Chandler, Miller, etc. My guy actually told me about a rumor he heard involving Miami, Phoenix, San Antonio, and New Jersey. Amare to Miami, Vince to San Antonio, Marion to New Jersey, and a few expirings and young players to Phoenix. He did mention Daequan Cook's name. Steve Kerr is apparently as interested in Cook as Beasley. They plan on moving J-Rich ASAP.

Don't be surprised if Miami makes a huge splash in the coming weeks, but expect J.O. or Brad Miller.

exactly. i love that lineup because everybody has a true position and beasley would play very well next to chandler defensively. also, chandler can move a lot better than JO can and get down the court with chalmers and wade.

right now chandler is a better center than JO, is younger, and would come at a cheaper price. he also doesn't dominate the ball or bring his team down.

it wouldn't surprise me if riley got amare. that would be a huge splash. we'd still need a true five, but it would be so fun to watch wade and amare together. we'd finally have low post scoring too.

I would love Amare... but how does he fit w/ Beasley? We'd have the same problem. We'd still have 3 of our best players that are all best playing the 4...

    Forget Beasley.

As a fan of an outside team I'll tell you this for a fact. If you can somehow assemble a trade that acquires Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudamire together you're set. Your team will have its shooting threat in Jones it's 1-2 punch, it's defensive edge at the 5 and a PG who will quickly become its third option.

Trading Beasley who does not have a positional fit and does not command the respect Stoudamire is a no question deal. It simply must be done.

J.O. has a more extensive injury history than Chandler. Chandler also works off of put-backs etc and is a tough tough player although he'll have trouble against say Shaq or Bynum. The rest of the league's Cs though he's a great match-up. Beasley is a sub-average rebounder at the 4, is not better than Amare on defense, and cannot pass nor do much other than score at this point. He will improve in some aspects but if you want to take Garnett down or LeBron down you must do something more. If you can get Amare who always takes it straight to K.G. and cancels him out you'll help yourself tremendously. You'd be a better SF away from taking it all from the Celtics. Perhaps Shane Battier could be acquired for James Jones. That can be done in the off-season though with one of your expiring contracts.

Miami you are on the cusp on restoring your franchise to the top of the Eastern Conference, you're this close. Believe me Pat Riley will take advantage.

Just an idea to throw out there for fun, as I've actually heard rumors of Riley considering Beasley and fillers for Amare, while sending Marion out in a separate deal.

Michael Beasley / Mark Blount / Marcus Banks for Amare Stoudemire / Alando Tucker.
Shawn Marion / Dorell Wright / Draft choice for Brad Miller / John Salmons.

    G - Chalmers
    G - Wade
    F - Salmons
    F - Amare
    C - Miller

Bench: Haslem, Cook, James Jones, etc.

And I'm warming up to the idea of moving Beasley for Amare but I'm not quite there yet. Chris Bosh on the other hand I wouldn't even think twice about. He's unhappy up there, too.

Sorry...but I get a little quesy about trading a 20 year old with this much potential.

He already looks like a 20/10 guy in 3 years. that is a tough thing to dump. especially when we already have Amare telling an ESPN SOURCE that he wants to play in "Miami with D-Wade" in 2010.

remember...that Amare is OURS in 2010. do we really need him here a 1 1/2 in advance? are we gonna win another title next year? if not..then I don't mind waiting.

I love watching Beasley play but I'm not sure if he fits the mold of what Pat Riley and the organization looks for in a player. The kid has skill, that is for certain.... But if we can get a superstar in Amare now for him you have to consider the deal... While he still has value.. I see a little Billy Owens in Beasley, a talented guy that can play different spots, but may never be able to excel at anything at an All-Pro level..
Of course he could turn in to a monster, but the most important thing right now for the organization is to lock Wade up after 2010.. And it may take a bold move to ensure that happens.

Im holding out for Bosh because he has a lot more upside
Amare, well, he will be serviceable until his contract runs out but I dont think hes a fit here, like Marion. We'd essentially be trading for a taller Marion thats a bit better on D. Plus hes got injury concerns and hes been in the league a while, a lot of wear and tear on him.

But I wouldnt be mad if we got him.

We have no defense and they're built to run up the score. Not surprising.

As for this trade talk... get only Bosh, and only if he agrees to extend his contract past 2010. Then lock Wade up after the season.

actually..we play very good defense. On the perimeter, we are probably the best defensive team in the NBA.

When we won the championship..we were ranked in the top 5 defensively,...and Denver still kicked our ***.

This "Amare injury" history BS is an urban myth.

look up his games played per season.

he missed one season due to injury and a quarter of a season early in his career.

other than that..he has had seasons in which he played 82, 80, 82, 79 games and this season he is gonna play a full schedule..so far.
