They offered Hickson and Big Z. Riley called Kerr's bluff. the Cavs put a deadline on accepting the deal. Kerr rejected the offer.

    Brilliant GM work by Riley.

Another thing...John Salmons has been notified that he will be traded.

Is he the second shoe to drop?

His contract is friendly at 5.8 mil for a player option.

He would look real good in our second unit.

tonight's game was huge for beasley. first time i've ever seen him pound his chest (after the block). his interview after the game with jax was pretty mature. no mentions of sponge bob, or licking his own elbow like last year. i think he's really enjoying this role. it'll be interesting to watch him the next couple of games if wade is out.

Best of luck to Wade to get well soon. I'd hate to see him out for too long.

Wade will miss one or two games.

simple calf strain is the early word.

If this were a playoff game, he would have returned in the 4th.

I was hoping to get Salmons, especially if we could move J.J.

He's headed to Milwaukee for Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson, though.

Bulls clearing cap for 2010. Don't even think about it, you ****ers.

I hope he sits both of those games. Not to sound like the world is ending, but that Dallas game is an automatic loss with or without Wade. Memphis is also a better basketball team, and at home. I know this is the NBA and we just beat the **** out of Atlanta in Atlanta... just saying. Sit. We need him as healthy as possible for the hopeful big push in March and April.

    Besides,

You say get 'em, Beas say got 'em!

Having some fun with ESPN's trade machine, I am the black Pat Riley of this here GM biz.

Trade 1: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhj8nr6 (Plus MIA & TOR 2010 first round picks)
    Trade 2: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykznowf
    Trade 3: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yfq9tps

G - Baron Davis / Rafer Alston / Carlos Arroyo

    G - Dwyane Wade / Rasual Butler

F - Rudy Gay / Rasual Butler / Yakuba Diawara
    F - Amare Stoudemire / Earl Clark

C - Chris Kaman / Hasheem Thabeet / Joel Anthony / Jamal Magloire

Beat that, Riles. You ain't got nothing on me. Believe it or not I think all three trade partners would highly consider these deals. LAC bites for certain without James Jones and Rasual Butler, but the Heat needed a backup swing! I begged. I'd propose signing McGrady if/when bought out, but he's playoff-cursed.

Sorry... I have the flu, ditched class today, and I am bored as hell.

Oh, way to tease Heat fans by including this bottom piece in the article, jackass. I hate you Marc Stein.

I don't think we've had a player put up 27/12 in a single game since Shaquille O'Neal in like 2006-2007.

I'd rather pass on Amare and go after Bosh. One of those elite FA's will want to come to Miami.

Adding a guy like Amare this year isnt going to make us a contender for this year anyway. No way we would even get out of the East. So either way, this year would be considered "wasted".

    Its all about 2010...

If it's all about 2010 then all we're doing is setting ourselves up for abject failure if we fail to land Bosh or LeBron.

You can't sell me that adding David Lee and Joe johnson was worth pissing away two years of Wade's prime

    Really? Interesting...

As long as Beasley isnt involved in the deal... I'm game.

Booz is a FA after this year right? So acquiring him would still keep us plenty flexible for 2010 FA, right?

First of all...fair warning...Ric Bucher is the WORST of ALL the insiders.

Remember that I first reported that we offered Odom a contract..then a day later, Ira Winderman siad we did, then Pat Riley had a PC sayign that we did a day after that..and then Ric Bucher said that we didn't. Then apologized the day after when Odom said that we offered him the deal a week earlier.

if you remember the Boozer deal....I said that teh deal was James Jones (third team), Udonis Haslem (Utah), and Dorrell Wright. that was the core of the deal. the Deal breaker was the inclusion of Daquan Cook. Riley felt that Utah was going overboard.

    Do we do it now?

    I don;t know..seems like a steep price to pay.

back then I also said that We had no chance at Amare at that time because we would not part with Beasley. The word now is that Phoenix indeed wants/wanted Beasley to ship him somewhere else for a player they really want. That is why the talks seem to be breaking down. Kerr is being forced to extend Amare to save face now. If Amare signs with the heat in the ofseason, Steve Kerr is fired.

But what are we really giving up for him? Some players that won't be here next year anyway?

If it doesn't hurt us for 2010, I say why not. It will at least shut up a lot of the speculators and help appease Wade.

I'd of stopped being a Heat fan if we traded for Boozer after failing to land Amare. I would rather lose Wade completely than have Boozer on this team. I ****ing hate Carlos Boozer with a passion. If he signs here in the summer, I'm done... strictly Dolphins and Canes with a VERY little bit of Heat and Marlins for me. I refuse to cheer for that bum. Carlos Boozer will NEVER play for a championship team.

Also, we are MAJOR losers right now, IMO. I don't feel comfortable heading into the offseason one bit, and I feel like it's dropped to 50/50 on Wade leaving. Chicago and New York both made deals to clear enough cap space to sign two max players. They basically gave their garbage away for nothing; we couldn't even move James Jones along with a pick at the very least? C'mon.

Chicago is the most appealing of the three teams (MIA, CHI, NY) with cap space, IMO. Knicks have what, four players under contract next year? Wilson Chandler and Gallinari = their selling point. For Miami, we've got Michael Beasley under contract -- THAT IS IT. Who knows what Dwyane Wade will do. I have a feeling he could burn us. Chicago on the other hand? They're loaded with cap space, and they already have a superstar point guard in Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Kirk Hinrich, and Luol Deng. You add two All Stars to that core, i.e. a Dwyane Wade and Amare Stoudemire or Chris Bosh, and you are a champion.

1.) LeBron James is not coming here. I don't even think we have a shot.

2.) Chris Bosh is probably not coming here. He keeps telling people that he does not want to go to another team and be "number two" ... he loves Toronto, they're playing well. I don't think this guy gives a damn about winning a championship. Seems as though he just wants to be competitive, be the man, and have fun.

3.) Amare Stoudemire extension talks are ongoing right now. If he's not extended, he could opt in for $17 million.

4.) Joe Johnson wants to go to New York above all. If they fail to land TWO OF Wade, Bron, and Bosh, they'll certainly turn to him and/or Amare.

That would leave Miami, in terms of max players, with Carlos Boozer, David Lee, and restricted free agents such as Rudy Gay. Think I'd blow my brains out. Honestly speaking ... if we fail to land Bosh or Amare, I do not want Wade to re-sign. I don't want to see Dwyane Wade waste his career in Miami. After sitting through a good portion of Dan Marino's playing career, I am no longer a selfish fan when it comes to positive athletes who give it their all. I want to see Dwyane Wade win two or three more titles at least -- with OR without a Heat jersey on. I also think it would be better for Miami to blow it all up in that sense, because we'd have no future at all going forward.

    Do not want.

It's one thing to love Toronto, it's another to actually want to finish your career there. I think Bosh is saying the "right" things, not the "true" things.

So what happened to him loving Miami?

You act as if Wade doesn't already have a title.

Quite honestly, me neither. I'm a fan of his game but after thinking about it, I am not a big fan of a potential Wade / LBJ pairing. I'd rather Wade / Bosh. In all honestly, LeBron James, although I'm a very big fan, is a *****. He's the definition of a diva. If he can't win a title on his own, I guarantee you he'd feel weird winning a title alongside Wade. He knows that the "LeBron can't do it by himself, he needs Dwyane Wade" arguments will forever follow. The thought of that alone would ruin him as an individual, as all he really cares about is his own personal legacy. I don't know LeBron James personally, and I've never met him before, but I'm pretty sure about those qualities of his.

I hope so. But there's no true telling. I'm still optimistic about Bosh, but I see another heartbreak situation where Wade and Riley court the hell out of him, ESPN reports that a deal is close, and he re-signs with Toronto or goes elsewhere. I've been a Heat fan too long not to feel like that situation will play out EXACTLY like that. I really hope Wade doesn't waste his time courting LeBron James... he needs to go all out with Bosh, and hopefully he's already started. Riley, too.

Nothing, he's from Florida and lives here in the offseason. However, his attitude seems to have changes after the meeting with Sarver last night. Suns feel confident that they may be able to extend him. We may not have the opportunity to force him into choosing ... a situation that I'd be very confident to be apart of. Amare made it clear that IF HE'S TRADED Miami is his preferred destination; he never wanted to leave Phoenix.

Nah ... I act as if I know for a fact that Dwyane Wade is not satisfied with that one title and his decision next year will be entirely based on putting himself in the position to compete for more. He's not going to waste the prime of his career in Miami if we don't make a move or two. And he shouldn't. I'll always be true to the Miami Heat, but I won't let that taint my true belief that Dwyane Wade deserves (above all) to be on a championship team ... if he leaves, I think I'll just quit on basketball because I don't play the bandwagon thing. It'd be the biggest heartbreak in the history of my fanhood, but I'd completely understand it.

Took the words out of my mouth. LeFraud indeed.

If Wade and Riley can't convince him to come to Miami and make a run at a title, then he's probably not the type of player we want on the team in the first place. In contrast, Shaq, for all his faults, was thirsty for another championship.

I recall Amare saying that if he wasn't traded he would be "professional" about his remaining time with the Suns. I'll believe he gets extended and stays when it happens, not a second before.

Of course he's not satisfied with just one title, but at the same time, he needs to be cognizant that he IS the Miami Heat. If he goes to Chicago, is he really going to have a better shot at a title? Hell, no. Chicago is spinning in circles. What's the benefit to Wade? A better shot at a championship? I think not, especially given how the Bulls are currently constituted. More money? Nope, no one can offer Wade more money than we can. The opportunity to play with Kirk Hinrich? BIG DEAL.

If Wade wants more titles that badly, then his best option is to stay.
