I wasn't at home for the game, so I couldn't follow it on the board, but it was great to watch! What an awesome way to start a season!

    Megatron makes that catch.
Moss and Carter trained themselves on how to make acrobatic catches in the endzone while staying in bounds. Its called footwork and awareness. Its something he has to improve himself like those guy did. If he wants to keep making Megatron money, hes gotta play more like him and show a desire to get better.

Im not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing that our backups played better than the starters...?

    Well away from here
We should spend a mid to early round pick on a backer if there's one there that warrants it. We need to add quality depth/ starters if we are talking about jettisoning our own. Have to add bodies and we can't rely on Trusnik. Keep adding players and we'll be in a better position. Add another interior defender as well.

The guy is a human being not some stretch cartoon character. There was no way for him the catch the ball and stay in bounds. It was one or the other...

Johnson is 6'5" tall with a much longer wing span... Wallace is 6'... Two different players.

I would agree that linebacker should be addressed... Along with ol and maybe even QB depending on how tannehill does this year.

Might not be as big of an issue if guys keeps stepping up. Tripp gets healthy and starts producing and along w/ today's crew away we go.

We are talking inches for his feet to be in bounds. Really close.

The game was won today by the OL opening holes for the running game and the tough running by Moreno. The defense also played excellent ball througout the entire second half.

Tannehill played a satisfactory game against a very mediocre defense. I understand that he is trying to learn a new offense for the first time since he was in college. So for now I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
Next week he is going up against a defense which is better than the Patriots defense. He will also be playing on the road against a team which completely throttled the offense when they last met in Buffalo in week 16 last year.
Tannehill will have to play much better than he did today for the Dolphins to bring back a win over the Bills next week. He needs to show consistent improvement on a weekly basis in this offense before I am going to be sold on him as the long term answer at the QB position for this team.
The jury remains out in regards to Tannehill, IMO.

While I agree the jury's out...

"Mediocre defense?!?!" Come on now...they're far better than mediocre. We made them look less-than at times, but they're a great defense.

Edit: Bit worried about the Bills game myself...they just always seem to derail us. Winnable game though, for sure.

The difference is Johnson works to improve his craft. As do most of the great WRs. I dont think Wallace has that kind of work ethic in him, as evident by him not staying after practices with Tanny, not working with WR coaches to improve footwork and such.

That and all that jugs machine work, only to still basket-catch the ball.

I wasn't impressed by the Patriots defense at all. Revis looked more like a very ordinary DB than one of the best DB's of all time.

The pass rush of the Patriots was very mediocre and their run defense was below average, IMO.

I hope the reason for this was because the Dolphins offense is as good as it appeared to be in the second half of the game.

The Bills have a much better defense, so we will find out next week if the Dolphins offense is really as good as it looked today in the second half or if the Patriots are as bad as they appeared to be in the second half.

I think the heat and humidity probably did have a lot to do with the play of the Patriots defense in the second half. I just wasn't impressed with the overall play of the Patriots defense throughout the game.

Rewatched that play... I think I was wrong and Wallace could have caught that in bounds with better sideline awareness.

On a quick look at the replay, it looked like he "may" have had both hands on the ball before his foot was off the ground in bounds...or it lifted slightly before. Only had 1 quick look at it.

Hate that. Hate it. One of my Buckeyes dropped a TD pass because he doesn't know how to catch w/ his hands.

None of that had anything to do with how the fins played. I mean there is no way that the pats are good but the fins just played better today.

as for the heat, what was the total number of plays in the first half for each team? Wasn't it like two to one pats?

Ive seen much less talented receivers have better awareness in that situation than Wallace. Has always been a concern.

As per my attempted conversation at halftime. I questioned why this call was made in the first place. Coach needs to make better judgements.

Mediocre defense? Going into this game the pats defense was faaaar from medicore. They didnt play like a top defense but it doesnt mean they dont have one. Overrated? Maybe.

They don't really have a premier pass rusher or linebacker. They are the definition of average everywhere defensively. With Revis and Browner the secondary is above average but lacks depth.

I just didnt agree with the line: "tannehill played a satisfactory game against a VERY mediocre defense". Thats a bit extreme even if solely because of revis/browner and some of their interior.

They never have an abundance of superstars on D...but they sure as hell get a ton of T/Os and rate very well every year.

Moreno brought an element to the offense that has been missing for a long time. Physical, up the gut, steam roller at the RB position. Amazing what happens when you get the right guys in the right position to succeed. Tannehill sacked once, Wallace lowering his shoulder, creative play calling. The offense finally looked like an NFL offense. Getting a win in Buffalo would be a huge coup for the dolphins. A 2game headstart in the AFCE would be incredible.

"steamroller". That's the term i had been looking for. Anytime you drag 3 or 4 defenders into the end zone, you're ballin'. Steamroller.

Just like Ricky Williams used to do back in the day, Moreno made our very average offensive line look above average. Offensive linemen feeds off that kind of aggressiveness and it unites them to play better.
