I don't know they did win the 2000 Superbowl, they were just in Baltimore and called the Ravens. Good thing Cleveland kept that great team name and colors, we wouldn't want to see them at a Superbowl hoisting a trophy in our lifetimes.

Because Sec is illustrating his point that Cleveland should get over LeBron by being unable to say 'Cleveland' without bringing it up. :tongue2:

And the Jets came close to losing to them last year. But at the end of the day, Miami should beat them handily. Shut down Hillis and let their QB beat you. He won't.

Welcome to The Phins - I'm a Clevelander as well.

Players to watch are the ones you know - Brandon Marshall and Cameron Wake. Marshall will be the focus of the offense, but Davone Bess is a Wes Welker type player that doesn't get much press. Reggie Bush will get quite a few touches as well.

The offense will depend on Henne - and it should be an interesting battle with your young secondary.

On defense, Wake will bring the pressure, but we also rotate a lot of quality players across the defensive line. There are a lot of solid players across the LB and secondary, but they haven't gelled yet this year. We struggle with athletic TEs, so look for Moore to have a big game.

We seem to do better with power running games rather than speed, and did a good job on Hillis last year. If your oline can give Colt time to create opportunities by extending plays, the miscommunications in our secondary play right into McCoy's strengths.

I'll be at the game Sunday - hope to see both teams play better than they have.

Sounds like the game will be decided by the WR's/Secondary of both teams.

Your WR's have more play-making ability than ours, but our secondary has been the most steady part of our D so far.

Flipped around we have a pretty average WR core with no real play-makers other than Cribbs (who isn't really a down-field threat) vs. your thinner DB core

Very interesting, sounds like QB play will determine the game. If your d-line can get pressure on McCoy we could be in for a long day.

I'll be there. Starting the 12 hour trip Thursday morning. Going to check out Canton on Friday and then check into a suite down town. Rock and roll hall of fame Saturday morning followed by a concert Saturday night at the House of Blues. The Cleveland site has been kind to me and claim to kick out some great food and brew, so we will be going to the Browns tailgate because I like to mingle. At the game, we are sitting lower level 50yrd line, row 2 Isle seats. Seats were cheap before the lockout ended.

That dude on Foodnetwork had these duck fat french fries at a small place in Cleveland, has anyone tried them?

One thing I do appreciate about the place is the lack of concern for things like choloesterol...

My Dad used to tell stories about going to Cleveland to catch the old AAFC games when the Browns and Buffalo were huge rivals.

I have an old Don Thompson's NFL yr in review, and it listed the best and worst stadium experiences and Cleveland's stadium was rated as one of the worst with the hot dogs described as "being cooked in a nuclear reactor"

If you are staying downtown then check out E. 4th street and avoid W. 6th. Bunch of great restaurants in that area.

In terms of tailgating, there is the 'Muni Lot' and the 'Pit'. I'm more familiar with the Muni lot, normally pretty crazy in there and lots of good people.

If you are around Saturday night and looking for a bar scene, there is am little area of town called Tremont that has a lot of great places.

And normally I'd take you up on that beer, but I've got 6 family members coming in for the game so i'm booked. Seriously let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, those duck fat fries are incredible. I think they are at Bar Cento on W 25th. The Great Lakes Brewery is right there, too.

In terms of cholesterol, check out Melt in Lakewood (15 minutes from downtown). Everything is soaked in cheese and deep fried.

Food for thought this could be the first time we see Miami run a large defense. With Dansby out and the other LBers kinda crappy, we might just finally put our DEs to use and tell Cleveland ya we forgot the memo about eight in the box *****es.

Eh, would not count on that, when Hillis is the guy you know can beat you on that offense, there is little reason not to step on the gas of 8 in the box, now our Cb situation is a different matter, but YB down in the box would not surprise me.

And Colt McCoy can run effectively, there are reasons why I do not take the Browns lightly Jaj.

This is a team you want to get out to a lead against.

There's really no point. You should be able to get away with not going eight in the box against Cleveland but unfortunately we'll see it.

No reason not to Jaj, they will try to match up Watson on Bell, as they did last season, or Evan Moore on YB.

But still the closer threat is Hillis, control the LoS and we have a good chance at winning.

Nice timing on the thread hockey puck!

Premature gameday threads and smack talk couldn't possibly set the stage for a humiliating loss...

Let's see if Vontae can make it through a game without cramping...

Let's hope Jake doesn't have another "Duh!" moment with the critical drive killing false starts. That ******ed lummox.

Let's hope Brandon Marshall doesn't have to take a time out because he has no idea what is going on.

Let's hope Tony doesn't melt down in Spaceball's fashion as Pizza the Hut, with Ireland consoling him as the robotic gangster.

...and Stephen Ross,...ohhhh Mr. Ross..you archaic basset hound!... you grandstanding meddling little troll... You clueless lil' toddler... You bumbling ne'erdowell neo-nazi gnome...What the hell kind of deluded infantile blather is going to come out of those old flappity jowls next? What intellectual Droopy Dogism will you regale us with next?

Here is an interesting question about the Browns -

Colt McCoy has looked pretty good in limited action. He seems to find a way to make plays and has a good head on his shoulders. That being said, his ceiling is probably in the 12-15 best QBs in the league range (he'll be able to put up decent numbers, but not carry his team or be elite).

Would you take him on this team right now?

We've all been talking about needing an elite QB to be a real contender - and recent SB champs seem to reflect that thought. McCoy's ceiling is probably what we thought Henne's was (is?) when he was around the same point in his career.

I know a lot of the gurus like McCoy a lot - and my very unprofessional opinion of him is high as well - but is that enough? Is McCoy a guy you would build a team around?

Certainly not. I've seen the first two Cleveland games - heck, I've seen way too many Cleveland games in recent years (note to self: chose your buddies more wisely) - and while McCoy's stats look neat, I simply don't see an NFL QB. They have him do a lot, and I do mean a LOT, of gimmicky throws, plays to the FB or RB by design, screens, quick slants, basically the whole bag of tricks you open when your quarterback just lacks the arm to make actual NFL throws. You look at McCoy, you see a guy who rarely to the point of almost never makes a throw that's in the air for 10+ yards. And if he does, there's zip Chad Pennington would be mildly ashamed of. He's pretty good on the run and he can extend plays with his feet, but he's never seen a pocket he was comfortable to step into.

He's the kind of guy that'll net you top 15 numbers and a bottom 5 offense.

Go ahead, if you want. Not me. I cannot realistically talk about him unless we've already ended up with the worst record and he has already declared for the draft. If and when both those things have happened, then maybe I can.

If Mr. Clean was surrounded by an army of cannibals making throat cut gestures and firing up the cooking pot, his first reaction would be: Well, let's see if they're friendly.

So, you are saying you were among the 1% who wasn't in the least surprised when he didn't declare for the 2011 draft?

BTW, you depth chart link also shows he has a year of eligibility left after this year. Stanford, not being a football factory, doesn't have many players ever declare for the draft with eligibility remaining, although granted, Luck is a special case.

Sure, the odds are pretty good he'll declare, but I'd just like to see this season play out first without 100 threads a week about Andrew Luck and fools hoping the team sucks enough, that the Phins will be able to draft him. The way the franchise seems to have a dark cloud over it's head for over a decade, it would just seem fitting that the next thing that could happen is the team ends up with the #1 pick and none of the top supposed franchise QBs declare for the draft. And, all the top 3 do need to do that.
