This definately seems inspired at least by the "breaking of the bat" arc.

That's certainly another theory going around. The John Blake name might be a cover up and his real name is Dick Grayson. Or other people suggested he's a villain in disguest like The Riddler or one of the offspring of Falcone or Maroni. People just don't think someone like JGL would sign on for a role as simply a beat cop.

I think JGL's character is definitely going to be important to the story but I don't think he's going to be a villain or end up as a Robin character type. But again who knows.

Definitely agree. I've also seen people suggest Blake becomes Azrael, but I highly doubt that.

Wouldn't it be the greatest twist/irony, if he was just in fact a simple beat cop?

EDIT: I disagree about the theories where he is a bad guy in disguise. That trailer just made it seem like he was a good guy who cared about Batman.

Those theories were before any trailers were shown, they have been theories since the day it was announced he'd play John Blake. So yes I agree with you that he won't be a bad guy as it's clear in the trailer he's going to be a good guy.

I think there's more to John Blake, than simple beat cop. While I don't think he's going to end up playing Robin in the sense he's going to put on a costume and mask, I think his character will be very similar to the Dick Grayson character. I think he's a big piece of this story and I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of this movie he ends up being the Comissioner (even at his young age) and Gordon becomes Chief of Police or whatever is the highest ranking possible. I think Blake is going to fill the void Harvey Dent left with cleaning up Gotham (and becoming the new "White Knight"), thus there not being a real reason for Bruce to run around as Batman anymore.

Another theory is that John Blake is the young boy from Batman Begins (the one from the Narrows that says to Batman "you are real" and was with Rachel at the end of the movie when Batman saved them from The Scarecow) however based on the age of the boy who was probably at the most 13 or 14 years old, it would make him 23 to 24 in age. I'm guessing Blake is older than that, in his late 20s to early 30s.

Not at all. I've made it a habbit of watching all 3 trailers back to back to back each day. (I'm fully aware I have issues).

I personally think the 3rd trailer is just insanely good. I love everything about it from the tone to the music.

Take it for what it's worth, but I found a blurb yesterday from an insider who supposedly had seen an advance screening (all of the visual effects were not 100% completed but the cutting and editing should be as will be watched.) Anyhoo he/she said it was a "flawless film" and superior to the Dark Knight. Can't vouch that this is real but it didn't have the smack of fanboy crap so it might be.

I've actually heard similar things. This movie is more of a war movie and is different from TDK and BB yet it ties together both of the films.

I really didn't think a movie could top TDK but after seeing the 3rd trailer I have high hopes. Even if this movie is a step below TDK or BB I will still be extremely happy, since I consider those 2 movies the two best superhero films made.

The big question is does anything think it could break The Avengers 207 million dollar opening? Not that it matters, because I think this movie is going to pull in huge numbers but it would be interesting to see for sure.

I have never anticipated a movie like I have TDR, Batman Begins was awesome, Dark Knight blew me away! Hard to imagine any movie living up to the hype I have personally put on it. But with Nolan I wouldnt be suprised.

Totally agree about the 3rd trailer being amazing, it seems to feature Bane more and his terrorist attacks on Gotham.

My fav part of the trailer is the split second clip where Bane is walking and just carelessly tosses Batman's mask to the ground. Bane is a bad MOFO.

I have a hard time counting the Nolan Batman's as superhero movies...it cheapens his accomplishment, and I say that with an unhealthy love of superhero movies. I don't think it will top Avengers' numbers though, because I don't parents bring their kids to these movies as much as they did Avengers.

I really enjoyed the movie, however I thought it was decently corney.

It might have been more grounded but still really silly. Especially the entire batmobile scene.

Didn't think it was that bad. It was a pretty small part of the movie anyways.

TDK is worlds better than Begins though, imo.

I do agree with the bold part.

while I do think they are more grounded super hero movies, still super hero movies. Take out the batman elements of both movies and they don't work at all.

Agreeing with the previous post that calling Nolan's films superhero films cheapens the accomplishments of them. Obviously Batman Begins is a superhero movie but I think it's better than that. Meaning it was a good film period.

That's the point. Nolan just did it realistic enough that it isn't hokey like 90% of the other superhero movies.

Nolan's Batmans, and the first Blade and Ironman are a different kind of movie to me, as opposed to The Avengers, Thor, Spiderman, etc.

Holmes acting was weak, absolutely. But I thought the overall chase scene was pretty sweet.

The only issues I have with BB is Holmes' acting and the Al Ghul's main plot was weak with the water system.

I didn't mind the plot w/the water but The Scarecrow could of been better.

I don't again with that, while obviously having the Batman character and the elements in the movie enhances it. You can easily eliminate everything to do with Batman and have the Batman characters be someone else and it could still work. That's how Nolan was able to sell his script and idea to some of the actors like Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman to sign up for Batman Begins, they eliminated everything to do with Batman and changed the script slightly to fit.

If you take the Batman stuff out of TDK and replaced it you'd get a good Michael Mann action film.

The first Blade? How is that movie not hokey? Loved the movie, but it was really silly. Very bad ***, but very hokey.

Nolan did a great job of showing you can make it work when taking a super hero movie and make it grounded. Still without the super hero element of the movies then they are extremely silly.

I do not agree at all. Without the agreement that Batman is this amazing martial artist that can perform feats that are nearly impossible, or having a character was silly as the scarecrow that creates a poisonous fear gas, there is no way that movie works.

If it wasn't for, "Oh these are characters based on super heroes," it would be impossible to suspend belief. Even Borne doesn't come close to stretching the imagnination as Nolan's Batman does.

Bc even though parts of it are over the top, they still make it seem like the overall story could exist. Obviously you're buying in to the whole vampire thing, but it was a well-written movie that actually had some style. Some of the action is a little too much, but it's still a really well put together film.

After the first one then that series went waaay too far. But like I said, the first one doesn't do that enough to the point where it really destroys the film, like most other superhero films do for me.

Actually, I'd put every superhero movie (Thor, Iron Man, etc.) into the superhero movie category, just not the Nolan Batmans.

I think it's bc it's the only modern-day movie that actually portrayed vampires in an interesting way so I give it a pass.

It just doesn't seem like a superhero movie.
