Fair enough. I see him as the third guy in a big 3 (while still taking in 40 mil at 30), but either way his presence would improve the roster. I'd be thrilled if Minnesota took back a bad contract. You're probably right. Something about this deal doesn't strike me as something to get excited about. Hopefully I'm wrong.
For a one year rental, if youre not giving up one of your bad contracts, pass... butler is a problem character-wise.
Butler was almost traded to the Heat last night until it blew over. I dont think its going to happen anymore, and i dont think hes the kind of player you gut your roster for anyways
He's only a problem if his teammates don't work hard. That won't be an issue in Miami. Wade loves him. As for the Woj report today, the guys who have had the best info on this story from the start have a different story. I still think he goes to Miami once Minny gets their **** together.
Jimmy Butler met with Thibs in Minnesota yesterday and reiterated his desire to be traded according to Shams Charania.
This is um...colorful lol theScore - Report: Riley called Thibs a 'motherf-----' during Butler trade talks Report: Riley called Thibs a 'motherf-----' during Butler trade talks https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1626874
Ole Pat better make something happen with FA this offseason or my theory that LeBron ruined his career will start to have legs.
Just a thought here: The Celtics own the Kings and Grizzlies 1st round picks for this coming draft. If both those teams finish in the lottery (which seems likely) the C's will add 2 lottery picks and possibly retain Kyrie. What teams should be doing, unless they care to see another Celtics Dynasty is trading players that can help the Kings and Grizzlies escape the lottery if those teams themselves are not going to be competitive. Take my Knicks for example...Courtney Lee is a positive addition for any team. Hes a good 2 way SG/SF who is reasonably priced in todays NBA. The Knicks need the extra cap space more for next year then they need the extra 5-6 wins he will get them. But the Grizzlies arent bad if Gasol and Conley are right and Lee could help them escape the lottery. The same can be said of Hardaway to Sacramento, as has been speculated. In doing so the Knicks would help themselves (and the future of every east team). New York themselves, will need that 2nd max slot and more assets if they hope to pass Boston eventually. If Boston adds 2 more lottery players that could become incrementally harder for the entire east. Imo, something to keep an eye on this year. Lets see how smart these GMs are.
If Bam becomes what heat fans think he will be, and Josh Richardson keeps improving on his already damned good play, I’m happy as hell with Riley. Everyone **** on the contracts we signed our players to, but the fact of the matter is we could flip those right now for Jimmy Butler. That’s a win. I’m pretty sure Riley just doesn’t want to include Bam.
What would really suck is for the league to finally be done with the Warriors Dynasty just for the Celtics to become the new dynasty of the 2020s.
Thats exactly what im trying to avoid. Ainge really did a masterful job with that rebuild. But no one likes the C's except celtic fans lol.
By the time we are relevant again Pat will he retired. All these bad contracts have to come off the books first.
The longer this Jimmy Butler saga goes on, the better the Rockets chances get of trading for him. Miami better pull the trigger soon because Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss become available on October 31st. We aren't giving away PJ Tucker. That has been the deal breaker so far. In a few more weeks, we can give up Eric Gordon, Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss, and 2019 first rounder FOR Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson. In other words, we can flip Ryan Anderson's trade pieces into Jimmy Butler, lol.
I never seen a team built to treadmill so bad like my current Heat are. These contracts just keep making it harder to rebuild.
Really surprised the knicks waived Noah. I was sure he was going to be a stud DPOY contender for them.
Even the biggest nyk fans knew that signing was a likely fail. Dude was washed up in chicago before he got here
Magic fan here. Tough win against a very good Heat team. We have a long way to go, but I am hopeful. That's more than I could have said last year, etc. LOL!
Heat’s bad contracts are catching up to them. Tyler Johnson is horrible and doesn’t belong on the court, Waiters is pregnant and Whiteside is mediocre. Other than that we’re great.
Good read theScore - How Anthony Davis dismantled the Rockets with one simple play How Anthony Davis dismantled the Rockets with one simple play https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1631071
Knicks won and are over 500 for what may be the last time all year. Hardaway dropped 31, a few players in double digits including Knox who was good once he got the jitters out and UDFA Alonzo Trier who had 15 and looked like a lottery pick himself. Then again we played the hawks who are aa bas as we are lol
I don't see how these small-ball teams are going to guard AD and Randle together. Randle is like a Boogie, but without the turnovers or the penchant to chuck threes or demanding to play the point. Or the attitude. God, that was fun to watch. I'm going to the home opener friday versus Sacramento. Very excited for this team.
This is a good idea. I know some of the college coaches hate the one and dones (Boeheim has been very vocal in that area which is ironic cause Melo was 1 and done). Coach K has used them well. Same with Pitino. But a lot of the one and dones could care less about the school and repercussions of accepting gifts (see what’s going on with Kansas assistant and Zion Williamson’s recruitment)
Nice to see the officials are up to their old Knick hating tricks. Them sucking as bad as they did jut ruined our shot at a perfect season. It's BS.
