I still like Hezonja and the idea of two lotto picks so I might be down for this. If you told me 2 years ago we could have hezonja and Winslow I would go nuts.
Put me on the list where I dont see how Magic Johnson helps the Lakers.. he has zero experience, what in the world does he know about operating and building a team..
Are you kidding me? If excellent analysis like this doesn't convince you that this is a man that knows the intricacies of what it takes to win, I don't know what will.
Choosing Rob Pelinka as GM is interesting though. He helped put James Harden, Eric Gordon, and Trevor Ariza on the Rockets. They give high praises. Magic just needs to get out of his way and let him build that team. Pelinka has some decent ex-clients he may can bring over....just not Harden
LMAO Daryl Morey schoolin' Magic on his first day. Lou Williams (18 ppg) for Corey "I can't make a layup" Brewer and super late 1st round pick. Rockets now have the 2 leading candidates for 6th man of the year (Lou and EG). That bench is gonna be a problem. Laker fans are so pissed. They should have gotten a lot more for Lou. I love it.
I don't think they should have gotten more. A lot of people here in LA thought they would get a 2nd round pick. And any pick in this draft is a good one. This also lets the Lakers tank easier, and that's important because they need a top 3 pick to keep it. It's that deep. I don't think this is a bad trade for the Lakers at all.
Hornets, Wizards, and Jazz were reportedly in a bidding war over Lou. If Magic would have held out a little longer I'm sure he could have gotten a better pick than the 27th or 28th. Rockets didn't care about the pick...we still have our 7 footer from last draft sitting in China. And, Corey Brewer is absolute trash (making more $$$ than Lou). Rockets fans couldn't be happier.
I'm not saying it was a bad trade for the Rockets, but it wasn't a bad trade for the Lakers at all. Those teams may have been interested, but if they were willing to give up a 1st (Charlotte certainly wasn't giving up what could have been a lotto pick), LA wouldn't have pulled the trigger. They had to move him, though, and time was running out. They did fine.
I agree. This was a great trade for LAL. They got a first round pick for a bench player. A good bench player but a bench player never the less. Houston already has like 15 guards. Maybe it just feels that way cause they jack up 40 3s a night. Just dont affect Hardens fantasy stats
Gay is out with a torn achilles. If you want him im sure theyll deal him unless they jusg want his 19m gone. But he has a player option for next year also...
Also if the knicks can get picks and expirings back for Rose, Noah, Courtney Lee, Jennings then count me in. Also stay the hell away from that bum PG with no jumper and cant play pick and roll defense named Rubio. You already have a better version in Rose. Tyus Jones...yes. Rubio....just say no. Thanks Phil, Your pal, Boik
Congratulations! You just won the 1994 NBA Championship. Big men don't matter anymore. Get some shooting, and make them matter. You do that...look out.
A) LeBatard is the highest paid radio personality outside of Mike Greenberg on the network. B) It has the second highest revenue rate and ad buy rate in the company. (Mike and Mike is #1) C) He also still has 2 years left on his contract and they have approached to add on 3 more years. D) The show isn't going anywhere. E) It is the Clear Cut best Sports Radio show out there. Maybe of all-time. F) YOU DON'T GET DA SHOW. Get past his political rantings which take up about 2 minutes of 4 hours every day. Listen to real entertainment. Not a douchey gasbag that never gets anything right..like EVER in Cowherd. Join those of us with taste.
You root for the Miami Heat. One of the premier franchises in all of sports. They lost the best player on the planet, and a year later, won the division, got a #3 seed and were 1 game away from the ECF's while having an injured team. They had their HOF center/PF in Chris Bosh almost drop dead and tie up almost $25mil in cap space for an entire year. Yet, here they are, with good young pieces, a ton of reclamation projects that seem worthwhile, a D-League affiliate that spits out good rotation players and a ton of cap space w/ a 1st round pick coming. The future is bright. AGAIN.
BTW, on Cowturd, Lebatard had D list celebs pick games ATS vs. Cowturd for 4 years in a row, and the D-List celebs beat Cowturd 3 of the 4 years.
As for the Bet Fin-O..the trade deadline can tell that story and hurt or help one of us. But in Spo I trust.
It can hurt you perhaps... At best the Knicks keep Melo, then get to win about 10 more games this year anyways. I'll be in Cleveland tomorrow (floor seats woot) sitting behind the Knicks bench watching my beloved New Yorkers get throttled. I'm interested to see Willy and Porz and it pretty much ends there. I may not watch another game until I get to adopt the Cavs in the playoffs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What entertainment...... I'd rather watch Mike Golic Jr be corny for a couple hours and he's a mess. He's not alone. I can count on one hand how many solid analysts ESPN has, but even they want to spew their political narrative all day. I've been listening to Fox Sports the past couple of months. Better quality. People are used to ESPN so naturally they will have a stranglehold on the ratings. But that doesn't mean they should. Mike and Mike is tolerable ONLY because they get the best of the best guests. First take isn't bad, Kellerman despite pushing his left-ness on everyone definitely knows his ****. His and Hers is good for NBA talk, that's about it. They stumble through football and never talk baseball. I've explained my view on fat Dan. People don't like Colin because he is a huge know it all, but I like his comparisons of sports with everyday life situations and he certainly at least knows his ****. Skip and Shannon are actually better than Skip and Screamin A. If you ask me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
People dont like Cowturd because hes a know it all who knows little which is the worst kind of know it all. Hes just not very good at his job imo. There are know it alls i actually like to listen to....mike francesa comes to mind...but cowturd was just never good.
Again, you are in the minority in that opinion right or wrong. He dominates his ESPN opposition on a MUCH less popular outlet. Now that I think about it? The best show on radio in my opinion is Dari & Mel on Saturday's. Good info, good analysis and a lot less BS.
Fin-O, i despise political rantings with my sports. Hate it. Yes, espn is a lefty sports network. But i like entertainment. I like "funny" and BS with my sports. The Lebby show has that.
Oh and again...a radio show is a business. A business is supposed to make $$$$$. You have no idea what that lebby show generates.
Btw, another Cowturd gem. When the fins lost to Cincy, cowturd did 30 minutes on how Tanny failed and that he was on the way out. Tanny of course then was the 3rd highest rated qb from that point to the end of the season.
I don't care if other people like him. He sucks. You would have to pay me a lot to listen to his trash. People who actually know sports know he's a joke.
After that game I wanted to take out one of his knees in the parking lot. Was the worst QB'd game Id ever seen in person. And I watched Cleo Lemon in Indy.
Phil's job for the next day and a half: Acquire as many picks as humanly possible Keep crappy contracts away from the Knicks (Looking at you Rubio). Unload crappy contract (Looking at you Joakim Noah you useless slug) Keep draft picks, KP, Hernangomez and Melo unless someone pays you a kings ransom.
Woj is saying Rockets looking for another trade for a 10-15 mil player. Everyone keeps saying Wilson Chandler. I have a feeling it's going to be Danilo Gallinari. Interesting stat: Only 3 players in the NBA shoot 30 percent of their shots from the three point line and 15 percent of their shots are free throws...James Harden, Lou Williams, & Danillo Gallinari. Lets get all three.
Maybe this is a discussion for the Club NBA thread, but do you think the Heat make any moves? Do you think they should?
Harden, Beverly, and EG were the only guards we use. 2 of those guys stay injured. Lou gives us a real reliable playmaker besides Harden. Almost 19 points per game in 24 minutes. 39 percent from three...almost 90 percent from free throw. Saves money on cap. Excellent trade. Gave up a scrub and basically a high second round pick.
I think they are looking to add a minor piece without giving up any major trade pieces. Those trade pieces are for an offseason trade.
Marc Stein saying Pat Beverly to Cavs for Iman Shumpert...possibly. I hope not. Updated: Houston media saying that report is b.s. Thank goodness. That's a horrible deal.
Isola tweeting that a team asked NYK about Kyle O Quinn. Knicks asked for a 1st back. Well done Phil. KOQ is a good player in spurts and probably more valuable to this team then maybe some others. Also love that Isola has to go to other teams to get info cause no one in NY wants to talk to him. Also Lakers supposedly going hard after Paul George.
Any chance he comes back this season? No reason to push him, obviously, but having him with this lineup would be fun.
Luke Babbitt for someone who is better than Luke Babbitt? LOL. Honestly I was a bit surprised to discover that Babbitt is shooting 39% from three and that his three attempts per minute are on the high side for his career, and only Wayne Ellington is shooting more threes per minute than Luke.
76ers traded Ilyasova to Atlanta for Splitter and 2 2nd round picks (1 is a right to swap) 76ers and Bulls are talking Okafor swap, per Woj.
