I was getting notifications about the score but had no idea who was pitching for the yankees. Yeah, that seems about right lol that was what we were used to from Eovaldi when he pitched for us. The guy only has two pitches.

Funny thing is the guy has been pretty consistent this year except for this game.....

It is like the Marlins knew how to hit him or something hahaha

I think it will be interesting to see how the league handles him after seeing him again for a 2nd or 3rd time. Like Vertical Limit said, he has 2 pitches and his FB while very fast is very straight and hittable. If he doesn't have his split working for him, he'll get into big trouble.

He has been working on his changeup and mixing it in on occasion, age is in his advantage so there is hope....AJ Burnett has 2 pitches and if you take out his Yankee years, the guy had a pretty good career....

Love it when the mets keep winning. Getting parnell back is a great thing for our bullpen. Now get Vic Black and sent Hansell Robles far away and the pen will be a strength.

Still need more hitting, especially vs the jays. These next 2 in Rogers Center are gonna be tough.

If anyone is in keeper leagues Steven Matz is going to be next up when the mets need a spot start. Stud LHP. And Michael Conforto is ripping up AA since his promotion 3 weeks ago hitting 362. OBP machine who will be a 30 Homer stud. He's fast tracked.

Frenchy took the mound at least once as a Met as well. Pretty sure it was 2 or 3 times and I just dont remember the other occurrences. Not the best player but always seemed to be a good teammate. Respect Utley for sticking up for him as well.

Yeah that's pretty dumb to be taking a crap during a game while on your cell phone instagraming. But I do however give him credit for owning up to it and not blaming someone else. Although it would have been incredible if he said his phone was hacked by the Cardinals.

And yeah I think Cherington will make some moves whether they're buyers (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) or sellers. I think Napoli is probably gone by August 1st, Victorino if he can get healthy by then. I bet he sees if there's a market for Pablo or Hanley, not saying he'll move either guy. Maybe Koji. Buchholz would be an interesting name that could be on the block, he's pitched pretty well this year and could bring back a decent return. Basically the only untouchables would have to be Betts, Bogaerts, Swihart, Pedroia, Ortiz and Eduardo Rodriguez. Anyone else he absolutely should listen.

Of course one can question if Cherington, based on his track record, should be the one making possible franchise changing moves in the first place.

I don't think outside of Porcello he has made an awful moves.....seriously the hitting isn't his fault....the lineup on paper should have been dominant, at some point they need to produce....

Porcello...the entire rotation...Giving a big body third baseman who had 1 year over 800 OPS since 2010, 20 mil....Giving an often injured and inconsistent hitter a $22 mil a year contract and then asking him to move to a position hes never played before...

Terrible job all around from him, dont give him a pass FinYank.

Tabata is going to get beamed twice if he isnt benched tomorrow. What he did was wrong and he deserves a fastball right where it hurts.

I didn't mind the Porcello deal at the time. 20 million a year for a pitcher on a 4 year deal in 2015 isn't a lot of money anymore. People are way too hung up on dollars, its more about years.

I didn't like the Sandoval move but am fine with Hanley, who defense aside has been fine.

Bottom line is Cherington has had a lot more misses than hits.

Imagine if Tabata ever got traded or signed with the Nationals. What a jerk. Seriously, people saying "cant just give him the perfect game" I agree, you dont, you try to get a hit, not get hit. Sad that it got taken away from him.

I dont think it will keep up because he is a good pitcher but if his numbers do Porcello's contract sucks....

I don't like Hanley or Pablo because they seem selfish to me, like they don't care...I don't know maybe it is the just because they aren't in a good place right now. Lastly cool it on the Cherington hate he has a championship, and orchestrated one of the best salary dump in MLB history, always drafts well, he can have a few misses. Would you even call them misses? Going into this year, they were one of the favorites to win the WS, that roster on paper is/was solid, at some point the players have to play...

I disagree with Hanley or Pablo seeming selfish. Hanley played all May through an injury and besides from PAblo's instragram episode he hasn't done anything to warrant being selfish either. I also disagree that they don't care.

As far as the Cherington hate, I think some of it is absolutely warranted. Looks like 3 out of the 4 years he's been here will be last place teams. Some of that is on his shoulders. Yes the players have to perform but he's the one bringing in those players.

Cherington's misses? Certainly his trades are spotty. Besides the Andrew Miller for Eduardo Rodriguez, Punto/Dodger trade and both Peavy deals I think he's been pretty bad at them. Trading Josh Reddick and prospects for Andrew Bailey and Ryan Sweeney was bad, selling low on Jed Lowrie, trading Mark Melancon for Brock Holt and Joel Hanarahan was poor. Lackey for Craig/Kelly looks bad right now. Lester trade one can argue they were better off going for prospects. I think signing Koji to a 2 year deal is going to end badly. Jury is still out on his drafts too.

I will say that at least Cherington and the Sox FO have a thought process behind their moves and most of them have fit their plan. Whether they have the right plan or not is open to debate.

As far as fixing the team going forward, I think Kelly has to go to the minors or more likely the bullpen where his stuff plays up much better and call up Brian Johnson. I think it's time to cut the cord on both Napoli and Victorino. For whatever Farrell doesn't want to play Castillo but if I'm Cherington I force him saying Castillo needs to play everyday or at least 5 or 6 times. I would dump Napoli and call up Allen Craig and see if he has anything left, he's been hitting in Triple A and if he shows he can't do it anymore they can dump him off the 40 man again, so it's a wash. Other than that just continue to let the kids play and develop. Maybe even call up JBJ, who's having a good year in Triple A, and see if he can actually hit MLB pitching now. I'd also try and trade everyone and anyone who's not going to be a legit part of the franchise moving forward.

hahah ask about 25 teams in baseball if they will take a ring every 4 years......

Realistically he couldn't get much for Peavy he pitched to a mid-4 ERA with his time in Boston, he is what he is an avg trade chip. Reddick? He had a career .248/.290/.416 slash in Boston what do you expect they get out of him? Same with Lowrie his Boston time was .252/.324/.408. These are avg guys, and throw in's on deals. Maybe you can argue hold onto them and see if they pan out? Both those deal IMO are pushes....Melancon I wanted the Yankees to keep, but truth is take out his numbers as a closer the guy threw a mid-4 in Boston as a RP and they had Koji who at the time was lights out, NOT TO MENTION, Holt alone makes that deal worth it...hahahah...These are in by no means misses.

Lackey yeah I didn't get why they traded him at all, he can be blamed for that sure, at the time though Kelly and Craig was a good haul for him, then they came to the AL East and all hell broke loose (say what you want of the AL East and how bad they are but they are the only Division with 4-above .500 teams in MLB)...chicken and beer maybe? Especially at 500K this year, makes no sense....and personally I think they messed up real bad on the handling of Lester, but I think the ownership group was more involved on that than Ben.....

Fink should Farrell get more of the blame than he is? Again that talent is certainly there....

Not trying to sound greedy because flags fly forever but 3 out of 4 years the team has been pretty awful.

I didn't mind either Peavy deal, it was fine.

The issue I have with Reddick is once he got traded he performed much better, especially this year. I think it's fair to question whether the Sox misjudged him or if Oakland just did a better job coaching him. Whatever it was, that's on the team. Regarding Lowrie, I think he sold low on him. Lowrie probably had more trade value at the time then Melancon. Especially with the state of middle infielders were in 2011/2012. But no those deals weren't pushes, both Oakland and Houston got the better end of the deal.

About Melancon, he had 2 bad weeks with the Sox in April of 2012, got sent down to the minors and since then has been pretty damn good. Even when the Sox called him back up he pitched well. At the time the Sox traded Melancon, Koji was only suppose to be a set up guy (perhaps the Sox didn't even sign Koji yet), and Hanrahan was suppose to be the closer. Yeah Holt's been a nice bench part but Melancon has had more value.

The Sox pretty much had to trade Lackey because there were a lot of whispers that he would have retired at the end of the 2014 season instead of pitched for the Sox for 500k. I get why Cherington had to trade him but you can question the return he got back for him for sure.

I think they screwed up the Lester stuff too. They probably could have had him for just over 100 million in spring training, basically matching Homer Bailey's contract but they tried to low ball him. Yeah you can absolutely bash the Sox for that however I can't bash them for not signing him to the deal the Cubs gave him. Lester is a very good pitcher but I think people overrated him because of what he did in October.

I don't think you can blame Farrell. I mean I don't think Farrell is a great manager, I think he's ok. But it's hard to blame him when the players aren't performing. Ownership loves Farrell so I doubt either him or Cherington get the ax if the team continues poorly for the rest of the year.

One thing I didn't say about Cherington and the Red Sox organization is the development with their prospects. Besides Eduardo Rodriguez, who's only been in the organization for less than a year, the Sox haven't really developed a good pitching prospect since Buchholz/Lester/Masterson back in 2007 to 2009. A lot of their pitching prospects that have been well received by scouts, BA, BP never really developed. Even the guys they got in trades (Webster, RDLR) didn't do much. You have to question what's going on in the minor leagues with the player development side.

Right. But it will be interesting to see if the more highly regarded ones pan out like Owens, Barnes etc.....Up until this point they are bringing up the more mid-tier guys.....

Hey you see they promoted JBJ again? I would think his time is running out to show something here...

I agree it will be interesting to see if Bogaerts, Betts and Swihart continue to develop and play well. JBJ wasn't a mid-tier guy he was really highly regarded and so far hasn't had any success in the MLB. It's going to be interesting to see how he performs for the next few weeks. And yeah I'd say this is probably his last shot with the Sox to prove he's more than just a 4th OFer.
