real simple. Change the game on the upper left hand side, and all the win score numbers come out for each player along with game flow. Scroll over the players to see each players stat contribution in each of the categories that you click on the bottom: Player PM, Scorer PM, Handle PM, etc.... all of it is based on a Per Minute basis, so it;s adjusted for pace. it;s the best engine I have ever seen. for gameflow I also like popcornmachine.net
I'll talk to Arturo about that. problem is the creator is a Statistics guru and Celtics fan....but I don;t think he'll mind.
I can promise you...they looked like the best team on the planet in the other 6. Even the Big 3 teams played like crap after long layoffs. Translated tonight to the common denominators of those teams and this one. Bosh and Wade were bad tonight. 0 FT's between them. it was just Hassan's Triple Double...Good Dragic and some good play from Deng..and NOBODY else did anything good.
Sorry Boik, with Zing playing like this ALREADY??? Knicks will be in the playoffs barring a major injury. Right matchup they maybe even win a series.
The Heat Defense IMPROVES by 12 pts. per 100 poss. with Hassan OFF the court. It might be time for Spo to use a permanent closing defensive unit, and leave Whiteside off it. The Hack-A-Hassan is a game changer that can steal tons of possessions from us down the stretch. Nip it in the Bud Spo.
I'm not going to argue the numbers as I'm sure they're accurate but how is that possible? It just seems like it can't be right.
The #1 problem for rookies is consistentcy. When he does that every night we can talk about winning a playoff series. On the good side...first Knicks rookie since Ewing to go for 29 and 10 in a game.
It just is. They play with more speed on defense when he is not there...and Winslow, TJ, and Bosh are very quick for their positions.
Is there some kind of rule that makes the Hackassan strategy untenable in the final 2 minutes? I couldn't tell for sure but it seemed like the announcers were alluding to it. If so then basically you just keep Hassan off the court for for the three-minute period from 5 minutes to 2 minutes left in the game. That's when the T-wolves used Hackassan to affect the outcome.
I'm sorry but I consider that Whiteside defensive number to be BS. Sample size issues, correlation not being causation, etc. First off heading into the game I was told that the points per 100 possessions comparison was even. So it changing in one game from even to a 12 point differential speaks to the sample size issues. Secondly, you've got to use your eyes. Hackassan became a problem, watching the game could tell you that. But otherwise he was basically shutting down the paint almost single-handedly. And he was affecting shots all over the court. The T-wolves shot 37% during the game and during the first three quarters when Hassan got 29 out of 36 minutes, I think that was something like 31%. That was not at all coincidence. Even when he went out to defend mid-range jumpers, you could see the T-wolves arcing the ball way higher to get it over him and it was affecting their accuracy. They were doing that all game long from the paint too. The 10 shots he blocked by itself probably lowered their percentage at least 6 percentage points. And that's without even accounting for the dozen or so shots he affected with his presence as they tried to arc it over him and ended up clanking all over the place. What I think happened in the fourth quarter with Hassan is Spo tested him from a minutes standpoint. Hassan averages 29 minutes a game. He had 29 minutes before the fourth quarter even started. I commented on that to Ethan and he agreed that Spo was testing him to see how far they could go with Hassan from a minutes standpoint. I think we got our answer. He loses his defensive effectiveness in the fourth quarter if you push his minutes. He just played his 73rd game in the NBA. He doesn't have the stamina or the knack for conserving his energy yet.
Yes. you can't intentionally foul with 2 minutes left. it then becomes a Technical Foul, 2 FT's AND the Ball in that instance.
I'm confused. Don't teams intentionally foul all the time to conserve time at the end of the game? Obviously I'm missing something here
It wasn't. It has been holding steady all year that the Heat's best defensive lineups, don;t feature Hassan at all, but they all feature Bosh and Winslow. Whiteside is a great player, but increased touches for him offensively, can result in his efficient scoring, but kills ball movement, spacing, and essentially murders Dragic', Bosh game... Heat are at their best with Hassan playing a support role, and ONLY getting his offense on High Wade P&R's. he absolutely stifles the Heat's offense when they go double post, because he doesn't run the offense and he doesn't pass. he just....shoots.
Here are the Numbers: Heat have played 264 Minutes with Hassan. 168 Without. They are allowing 101.4 Pt.s per 100 Poss. with him on the court. 89.4 with him Off the court. Defensive rebound Rate also goes up by 5% (from 76.1% to 81.2%) with him off, but that;s due to the opponent, missing more shots. Once you reach 250 Minutes, Samples become representative. So I think this is very real. Simple Speed vs. Brawn argument.
BTW, Hassan destroyed Karl Anthony Towns last night...but you would have to be certifiably insane to take Hassan over KAT going forward. KAT's game is more conducive to the Team game. Whiteside needs to be catered too. Spo has some work to do.
So then what do we do? Seems to me that based on these numbers Whiteside isn't a max guy but his raw production certainly indicates that.
It's Spo's job to mix and match and maximize his team based on personnel. he has been doing that. Force feeding a "hot hand" in Whiteside is a bad idea. We know that now.
Doesnt have to be nightly, just peak at the right time. Either way i think NY is a 7-8 seed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So how many coaches has Dwight Howard gotten fired to date? Is this some kind of record for a player?
Welcome to my year last year. The good news is this will help long term and The brow will finally get some help with a lottery pick.
I think the Pels can turn it around. Their injuries are ridiculous. A roundup: Tyreke Evans: starting 2 guard. out indefinitely. Hasnt played this year. Quincy Pondexter: starting 3. Out indefinitely. Hasn't played. Norris Cole: backup point. Out indefinitely. Hasnt played. Jrue Holliday: starting point. On a 20 minutes/night restriction. Not allowed to play on back-to-backs Omir Asik: starting center. Missed a bunch of games due to back spasms and stomach illness. AD: you know him. Missed 5 games due to leg and shoulder injuries. It's madness!!!
Interesting stuff on Whiteside and the defense. Bosh has been stellar and real tough on defense - moreso than I can rmember in recent years. For tonight though I would think that Bosh and Whiteside will be together a lot to match up with Boogie and WCS. Bosh on the prolific post scorer; Hassan on the super-athlete big man. Or other way around, whatever. Cousins is a bull. It's not like SAC can spread the floor anyway. Should be interesting. And WCS guarding Bosh could be something fun to watch.
I haven't watched much this season yet, but my impression is that Hassan is less efficient at help defense. He gets his blocks of course, but he doesn't play the pick and roll like Bosh. Obviously, that's a bit of an unfair comparison b/c Bosh is so incredible at the p/r. It seems that they have been playing one center most of the time. I'd like to see some experimentation with those two playing together. It may be tough b/c those guys seem to play a ton of minutes already.
I think if you really dissect the defensive issues you'd find it's more a lineup issue, the players that are out there with Hassan versus the players that are out there when Hassan is out. I really truly believe it's a statistical red herring. And I think what happened against the Timberwolves is that Spo pushed Hassan's minutes to test him, and his fourth quarter defense suffered for it. As for the troubles with him on offense, I agree the ball definitely stops moving when it goes to Hassan. But at the same time I don't necessarily think he's a source of inefficiency because A) his points per possession is so high, and B) it seems like a ton of his scoring is on offensive board putbacks. His presence in the paint is a constant threat to defenders when they start thinking about going out to help against guys like Wade and Dragic who are excellent at driving to and finishing under the rim. One issue is that until the first quarter of the Timberwolves game, Dragic really wasn't taking advantage of this and he needs to. The issues that cropped up with Hassan in the Timberwolves game were A) the Hackassan conundrum, and B) I think he didn't meet Spo's challenge from a stamina perspective when Spo had him play over 80% of the minutes in the first three quarters. By the start of the fourth quarter I believe Hassan literally was the team leader in minutes, and why you'd have your big in that position I don't know unless you were testing him on purpose.
Breaking: DeMarcus Cousins SUSPENDED tonight vs the Heat for uncalled elbow to Al Horford last night. Hassanity goes off again tonight
