I always come back to this:
Wow. I hate the Knicks, but it's starting to get to the point where I feel bad for them. That would be an AWFUL move.
It would certainly be a risk, but I'm actually fairly confident this organization could make it work. He was once a superstar that took his team to the finals. He'll never be that again, but I don't think Dwight is a bad guy. I'm not sure if anyone saw him on the TNT studio show where Barkley and Kenny Smith pretty much blindsided him and grilled him. It was extremely uncomfortable TV, but Dwight seemed like a guy who is ready to take some guidance. I think he's been in two pretty bad situations in LA and Houston. With a stable organization like Miami or San Antonio, and maybe even Dallas, he could become a valuable player again IMO. If he's willing to take a more cap-friendly deal, then I could get on board with it.
And by the way, not sure if anyone follows Dwyane Wade on Snapchat, but he's in Mallorca getting drunk with LeBron, Chris Paul, and their families. He doesn't look like he's focused on shopping his services around to the rest of the league at the moment.
I really really want to troll about it - but even I realize Wade is just trying to increase his offer from the Heat. Not even worth talking about.
Per Windy and Zach Lowe, Thunder shopping Kanter to free up a max slot to get Horford First, that means that OKC has some concern here. Two, that Horford may really make a difference in his decision. Now, I love Hassan Whiteside. I'm one of his biggest supporters and if at 12:01 we sign him to the max I'll be thrilled. But if Al Horford is that important to KD, that even OKC feels like they need to get him to secure KD, then give me Horford and I'll take my chances Worst case scenario you still have Horford/Wade
Thank New York for letting my Wizards off the hook, we probably would have given him a deal like that. This has to be done to appease Rose or maybe Phil Jackson has dementia. Or maybe Isiah Thomas is running the team from a secret location.
The AH thing is really interesting. What is KD's tie to him? Is it just that he wants the team he goes to to have a good big, or is it something specific with AH's game? I wonder if Whiteside would suffice. If AH IS in fact a big deal to KD and what Section said about him wanting to go to Miami is true, that would seemingly increase the odds that Miami gets KD if Riley knows this, no?
Honestly OKC will have to do one heck of a sales pitch to tell Horford to sign with them. Sure its a great team they have over there but its still Oklahoma City... With that said I dont think hes that important to Durant.
I trust Riley pretty much no matter what, so I think this offseason will end up being fruitful for Miami, but with Ethan's article I was thinking about the absolute worst-case scenario. Let's just go doomsday and say Whiteside and Wade leave, and Bosh doesn't return healthy. That would really suck for a year, but that would make 2016-2017 a true rebuilding year where the Heat end up in the lottery. Well, they happen to actually own their pick next year in what is expected to be one of the best draft classes in recent memory. They could use that pick or trade it on draft night for a good veteran. On top of that, they'd have enough cap space going into the offseason to sign two Max players and I believe enough room to add more in an incredibly loaded FA class. Next year would also have to then heavily feature Winslow and Richardson allowing them to work on their offensive games even more. So again, I think this scenario is extremely unlikely, but in actuality, the worst-case scenario this offseason isn't that bad at all long-term.
Its not that bad but there will be tears and anger, a lot of anger, from fans that saw a team that was a game away from the EC, some think they were a Bosh and Whiteside away from the NBA Finals. And to go from that to possible lottery team, that would be a tough pill to swallow. Im prepared for anything though. Ive said it before and I will say it again, Heat fan first, players second. I hope Riley stays firm, do not give in on Wade. But yes Whiteside should get the max.
I think we're players too. Not the favorites, but I also don't get the extreme pessimism from Ethan and the like.
Reading the tea leaves here, it seems like AH and his preference could be what pushes Miami over the top here in the end.
Yeah, gonna do that. Info will go in the Club. I still think we can "discuss" stuff in here, but I would still request the abbrev. of the players when referencing me.
It's delicate. They have to be happy with AH instead of HW even if they don't get KD. But if AH is the lynchpin (which seems really nuts but ok I'll go with it) you want to bring a AH commitment to the Hamptons on Sunday
BTW, keep S126 info on the QT or discuss via PM. We need to give him some CYA because if the AP can track his IP, his contacts could get FUBAR'd then we'd all be SOL.
Not sure if they can swing it but a big three of Leonard, Aldridge and Durant is probably the best basketball move for KD. That team would be long, big and great defensively and offensively. Pop coaching? Damn.
Man - Steph, Klay, Iggy, KD, Green is just such an insanely good lineup it's almost hard to dream up something better. Terrifying. He has so many options.
