The same could have been said after that trade as well. And they also would have a nice piece in McRoberts.

not sure how much progress we can expect from him... I remember Norris had a good summer league and that won him a roster spot. He is pretty much battling a roster spot with TJ Napier and Zoran.. And maybe even Chalmers. If Chalmers is dealt though we can get him in the roster.. Maybe we can trade Chalmers to Utah for Randy Foye's 3.8 million non guaranteed contract. They will want some other incentive to do that though, draft picks or a player theyre interested in.

This is obviously a good move for SA, but I don't think it locks them into the Finals. The rest of their parts are still aging and there are some good teams out west. He's also obviously going to have to stay healthy. I would have preferred to see him go to Phoenix, but oh well.

Now that that dream is dead, the Heat need to find a shooter and it will be interesting to see if they shed salary.

4 years $80 million. Opt out after year 3. Should have done two with a player option. Could have gotten paid after a ring.

I'm four years old than him. He makes me wonder what I'm doing with my life.

This is an interesting turnabout in the NBA. It seems the age of the long suffering franchise player is over. Pat Riley has made a career of snatching up disgruntled franchise cornerstones and turning them into Heat lifers with only really LeBron and Shaq drifting away after completing the deal. This bodes well for next off-season when Miami will have a lot of money and guys like Durant shaking free. I don't see Billy Donovan working out for them at all.

Never thought a team could look heads above the rest in the West...but now we have a clear cut best team in basketball. With their experience and coach i dont think "on paper" is appropriate either.

Golden State is bringing back the same team. They should be the favorites, imo. People still don't realize how (historically) good that team was. As the season goes on it will be about health, of course.

I recognize that they were historically good last year. But a lot of that historic goodness was in the almost supernatural shooting of Steph Curry. Are we really going to say he's going to be THAT good for a long stretch of time? At some point, your shooting average goes down.

  11. CaribPhin

    CaribPhin Guest

At some point your shooting average regresses toward the mean, sure, but that's really your own personal mean. Steph is very likely that good of a shooter. Unless Steph was shooting above what Steph should normally do, there's no reason to think that his shooting will slow down. Considering he has the number 1 and 2 seasons in NBA history in 3pt shooting, I think the safe money is on Steph being transcendent.

This wasn't even his most efficient 3pt shooting season of his career and right in line with his career .440 3pt%.

EDIT: In some advanced metrics he has gotten better, sure, but not by too much and then he was clearly ascending to those numbers around 2011 anyway.

GS was a historically great regular season. Their playoff run IMO wasn't very challenging, and I don't think they were great in the playoffs.

Bringing back the same team isnt always that good.. Look at us in 2006-2007... You need to mix something in every season to keep everyone guessing and gameplanning differently on you like we did on the big 3 era bringing in battier bird and ray in different seasons.

Even if Wadewas healthy in 2006-2007 i still think we would have had a little trouble in the first round. We just didnt look hungry.

Golden State will need to be "hot" from three to get back into the finals next season. A team that knows how to play basketball the right way just landed on helluva FA.

Let's just enjoy it because it won't last very long. They will still have Kawhi but the day that Tim Duncan decides to finally hang them up in pursuit of a career as an astrophysicist, it will be a sad day for the league as a whole.

Apparently no deal is set yet for Tristan Thompson. And Lebron wont negotiate until Tristan's deal is finished. I think it is safe to say Lebron profits off all of his agent's deals. Not sure if thats legal but why he is concerned about another player's money is a headscratcher to me.

Golden State is basketball the right way. Solid ball movement, minimize 2pt jumpers, rain threes on mere mortals, play disruptive defense. This is the new NBA. This is just the work that Kerr, Gentry, & Co. did in Phoenix coming to fruition.

I think he's competing with Tyler Johnson and it should be an interesting competition. Johnson's physical shortcomings (pun intended) have a way of producing inconsistency. Richardson has the same speed but better length and so what happens is when he attacks the basket he's going to end up at the line a whole lot even if he doesn't finish the drive. It reminds me a lot of Wade back when he was young.

What a bad move by the Lakers... talk about desperate.. lol Roy Hibbert has the soft label just like Pau Gasol, always consistently has a string of games where he vanishes just like Gasol, and much less talented than Gasol. yikes

Don't think they'd rather move Walker and keep Johnson? He did play well this game even though the hype machine was focusing on some other guys. TJ is Wade's primary backup, no?

The good news for Lakers' fan is that he's just a one year rental, and they gave up almost nothing... the bad news is yet to come... if Kupchak offers a max extension to Hibbert, yeesh... that would be vomitus.. the guy sucks... has no offensive game, his rebounding disappears a lot of the year.,.. his defense is way overrated, has that verticality trick up his sleeve but other than that he is trash..

San Antonio media is hilarious. "Face of the franchise for the next 10 years, heir to Tim Duncan's throne." Lma is 30 years old. It's a 4 year deal.

Portland is gonna be pretty bad next year, but Lillard should keep them in the back end of the lotto.

Rich Paul is such a scum bag. He's holding the Cavs hostage to make himself more money, and LeBron is allowing it. IMO, this is my only real problem with LeBron. He lets the blood suckers around him have too much power.

Like I said previously on this thread about that situation, the worst kept secret in the league is that James profits off his agent's clients since his agent was someone Lebron brought in. And i dont think thats legal but the NBA keeps quiet.

Just check Rich Paul's credentials before becoming an agent in the NBA - he was selling jerseys off the trunk of his car in Cleveland. Then he met Lebron. You think Lebron is letting him have all that money? Please.
