I'm stealing this from RealGM but Boston has two trade exceptions and wants to move up in the draft. We could deal them Bird, Rio and 10 for their picks, 17 and 28. Could get RJ Hunter and James Anderson at those picks who together are probably better than 1 Stanley johnson.
Stein reporting that the Lakers are trying to trade for Boogie. Magic being engaged as 3rd team to make a deal.
He setup his Kids Kids Kids for life when he signed a $90 Million dollar deal with equity, with LiNing 2 years ago. His "contract" is more about ego than actually needing the money.
The Kings are such a disaster as an organization. Stern made a huge error when he gummed up the deal to move the team to Seattle. Instead he recruited an Indian billionaire, solely because the NBA wanted to make inroads to India, without realizing that the man was a crazy person who has about as many poor decisions as James Dolan has in only 2 years. Now they might trade their only star to the LAKERS? The people of Sacramento should burn that new arena to the ground (metaphorically of course)
I just love the team of #FutureLakers that have been rumored to go there: Westbrook, Wade, Kobe, Love, Boogie. With Swaggy P on the bench. Might be the most hilarious groupings of players you can come up with.
On Rio and Bird. Remember that they were both given slightly inflated contracts that matchup to the league average salary for a starter. They have value as players, but really have value as a cap dump, or even to bring in a decent 1 year rental. I think they make perfect sense to the Knicks, and the Heat really like Hardaway Jr. Chalmers is perfect for the Triangle, and a helluva defender in the Phil Jackson mold.
It's very simple....if you are a TAX TEAM this coming season..you don;t have flexibility in 16'. So it behooves your team to be under the threshold this season with some expirings at seasons end if you want IN on the 16' bonanza. The Heat are right AT IT, retaining everybody. This is why a Rio, Bird salary dump is probably necessary if Wade is insisting on a MAX deal for this year.
it really isn't that hard to learn it, if you have the time to read this: http://www.scribd.com/doc/172760974/NBA-NBPA-CBA-2011 http://www.nba.com/media/CBA101.pdf
At this point it's better if I just don't. I'm reaching Kelly Bundy territory. I learn stuff and other stuff gets lost.
Hollywood has a movie script based off of Dellavadova... This scrub isnt even in Chalmers level.. And had like two games worth a damn ..
White dudes have such a low bar to become NBA cult heroes. For what it's worth most of the smarter Cavs fans still have no interest in paying him more than his qualifying offer. Even that feels like a lot.
The thing about Rio, while he is a scapegoat for the HEAT fans, and to a degree nationally because of the HEAT exposure over last few years, he is a good defender, he has PLENTY of experience, he missed the playoffs for the first time in his career this year on top of not being afraid of the moment and launching a 3. This is a guy who has scored 25 in a Finals game while having LeBron, Wade and Bosh on his team, so yeah, Rio is definitely an asset, a lot more so than a 37 year Birdman.
Were the Heat a tax team last season? Can the Heat avoid the repeater tax for 16'-17' if they are under the threshold for 15'-16'?
Imagine if he played for the Celtics. "WE HAWE THE HAWDEST WOOKING SCRAPPIES BAAWSKETBALL PLAYERS IN THE LEAAAGUE. DEVYLAWDOWAAA REPRESENTS ALL OF BAWSTON. I AM NAMING NAAMING MY BEAH AND CHOWDAH RECEPIE AWTER HEEM"
They were not a Tax Team this past season, and by being under the threshold THIS season, they would avoid the repeater tax.
This Cousins nonsense can't have any legs to it. I can't imagine the Lakers are willing to trade out of the #2 spot, and possibly give up Julius Randle as well, to get Cousins and less cap space. Mitch isn't this stupid. This has got to be leaking from Cousins' camp with The Lakers a willing straw man to maybe try to dirty the waters of a divisional opponent. Although, the thought of Kobe trying to get along with Cousins during his final season in the league and NOT murdering him every time DeMarcus is distracted bt something shiny and wanders out of position, might be worth it for the car accident enthusiast in all of us.
That would be a horrible trade IMO. This organization doesn't have the opportunity to pick in the lottery very often and they got lucky enough to do so in a year when the talent pool is deep throughout the lotto. Moving back to pick up a late 1 is giving up the chance at an impact player to get two guys who may not be in the league very long, or may not ever be a real rotation player. The only way I trade back is if it's a couple picks, and I would much rather see them try and move up a few picks, or just stay put. I like RJ Hunter a little bit, but he could very easily become James Jones because his defense is suspect and he can't really create his own shot.
Hollywood loves scrappy white guys. That's about it. Maybe he had a rough childhood or something that makes it more interesting. He's Australian so maybe the hook is his father wanted him to play Rugby but he fell in love with basketball instead after watching Michael Jordan. Then he does numerous "scrappy" things and eventually becomes a cult hero in both hard scrabble Australia and even harder scrabble Cleveland. Add in some schmaltzy music, Pete Postelthwaite as his disapproving father, and maybe an Emma Stone type as his GF, and voila, you've got something potentially watchable. see, I just made the movie. Still trying to cast Delly.
Basketball version of Crocodile Dundee? But really - undrafted white kid with little to no athleticism who comes in and plays well in the Finals? It's like a crappy version of Rudy. (For the record - I think it's a joke he'd get a movie.)
Haha you guys are so damn angry about anything Cavs related. I've said Delly is awful like 100 times - just saying what the theme of the movie would be.
Sect - what's up with the Dragic offer. They can offer like 5 yrs $109m or something and reports are that it's around 5 yrs $80m. They think they can get him at less than the max? seems risky to make him mad with that offer. (And I know it was "in excess of $80million" but you don't use that language if it's closer to $100m than $80m)
So who is Miami gonna get in two days? NBA Draft is so weird. Right on the heels of the season so you don't have much time to care about who the team is getting. Then the draft day trade shenanigans happen which really makes the whole thing borderline unwatchable. They should have a rule about draft day trades after having already picked a player.
I think it's weird to have opt-outs and free agency after the draft. I guess the NFL does that, too - but without guaranteed contracts and opt-outs it's less of a burden. NBA teams have no idea if some guys are going to opt-out / re-sign and have to go into the draft somewhat blind.
I still hold out some hope for Napier. He should eventually be a good shooter at this level. And I'd have to go back and look, but I'm not sure who we could've drafted otherwise that would have made much difference, or is that much better a prospect moving forward
