Yeah if Lebron leaves...best of luck. Thanks for the four years, but I honestly believe he needs to pick better company to surround himself with.

Unless this is all a complete ruse and the decision actually has already been made, the only thing to discuss with family is to get them back on board with staying in Miami.

The money is the money. He knows what the max is here versus in Cleveland. If he is simply going to abide by his family's wishes to go back then there's nothing to discuss, no reason to meet with Riley, no reason to delay an announcement, etc.

The only thing that makes sense is that LeBron wants to stay and needs to convince his wife that they should stay. His wife still might win, mine does all the time, but maybe not.

    Yeah, exactly.

It's been fun, appreciate the good times, but if what the Heat's done isn't good enough then so be it. Enjoy Cleveland winters and likely never winning another championship

I hear you...I'm just trying to make some sense of why this is taking so long and why he would consider Cleveland from an on-court standpoint.

I guess you could think of it this way...If he goes to Cleveland, do you think they'd be the favorite to win the Eastern Conference THIS year? Because I do.

Lot of rumors that he wants to release the news on his website - so I'm guessing this was just an excuse to not give an answer and release the news on his terms.

I don't think he's leaving, but if he does, I'm not sure he's being super fair to Heat fans. It's not The Decision, but he's kind of created a very similar situation.

In all fairness to Lebron. He hasn't created the situation. All he's done is taken his time and got his information together. The rampant speculation is media driven and the demand to know everything NOW is entitlement by the fans. He has every right to get his facts together, make his decision, and then have it announced after everything is in place.

Hard to see how they could decide on salary before knowing who else is going to be on the team.

Its the league itself, in concert with his friends, who just happen to be some of the best marketers in the world right now. LeBron may be the best monetized entertainer in the world right now.

Figuring out the finances behind everything is not easy. Him and the Heat are essentially trying to determine the sweet spot for his salary. How much is Luol Deng worth to his legacy? Is it worth it to take $10MM a year if that helps assure him the next two rings?

There are literally dozens of moving parts for both LeBron and the Heat right now.

Not if he wants the max. The max is the max.

If we were still going after Deng we wouldn't have signed McRoberts and Granger.

And signing those guys makes it even less meaningful for the big 3 to take less since we could never get far enough under the cap to sign Deng. They'd each have to give up a ton.

Personally I don't believe any of the big 3 are leaving or that it's ever been in doubt. Obviously there are some nervous nellies who freak out at every faux report and then the rest of us get accused of picking and choosing. Or worse those who think he's leaving concoct some ridiculous speculation and then anybody who doesn't accept it's plausibility is being unreasonable. That's all ridiculous, of course.

If any of the 3 were to leave, I would wish them well and be thankful for the their time here. I wouldn't go all jilted girlfriend and staring burning jerseys or cursing them. I also don't think any of them have done anything wrong. The time to sign is just now arriving and using leverage until that point is smart for both them individually and for the team. But I can see that if you're hanging on every leaked bit of "news" how it can seem to be dragging and that there's been a lot of flip flopping. It's just that the blame lies with the media not the players.

I believe that if the three return that Miami is the odds on favorite to return to the finals, but even if there is a defection that Miami will at worst be among the favorites in the East. At worst they'd still be very good this year and with Riley and cap space be a favorite to land another big FA in two seasons. The upshot is that it's a good time to be a Heat fan.

No, his maximum earnings are extremely variable. His maximum salary is really just a sliver of what his potential lifetime earnings could be.

How much less is everyone willing to take? And by everyone I mean LeBron, Arison, Wade, Bosh, Deng, Carmelo, Chalmers, and even Riley. There are literally dozens of moving parts and variables at play here.

Windhorst reporting flatly that LeBron has not met with Cavs and will not meet with anyone before decision.

I still cannot fathom LBJ choosing Cavs without sitting down with their brain trust, and at least looking the coach eye to eye and discussing strategies.

Hmm. Ethan Skolinick has vouched for Lloyd in the past as a Cleveland source to trust so that is likely true.

Not even going to speculate on what it means as it probably means nothing.

Why does it look that way? While nothing he has done since FA started IMO strengthens the idea that he is returning to Miami, there's even less concrete info saying he'll leave.

It makes very little sense. Lebron doesn't know the Cavs coach, barely if at all knows the Cavs GM, and has a broken relationship at best with Cavs Owner, yet we are to believe he will decide to join them in spite of all this?

    I just can't understand that.

It's 2014.....he's probably face timed everyone of them multiple times, texted and called Gilbert....and skyped the entire cheerleading team. If he flew to Cleveland that would cause even more of craziness.

Everything being discussed on twitter. Including the work that was supposedly done on his website that included Cleveland colors. I'm not saying he's going there for sure but that's just the direction it looks like he's heading. We'll see.

For all we know, the web team is out of the loop and just making pages for each team just in case.

I work in media. This seems like the most logical explanation for this web page thing.

I imagine if the web team knew, there would be trustworthy people suggesting LeBron to Cavs is final.

    Possible.

Still find it very hard to believe LBJ would commit the rest of his prime to Blatt and the Cavs without actually meeting him, in person.

Would be f'd up if this was all being drawn out to force Bosh's hand into signing with Houston. Don't buy into it at all but a plausible scenario. James signing with Cleveland just doesn't pass the smell test.

For the salary cap guru's... it is true that Houston would need Bosh to decide on whether or not to accept within the next 2 days because of the Mav's Parsons offer, correct?
