PE is a blood clot in the lung, often caused by DVT (deep vein throbosis), which is a clot in a vein in the leg. If it loosens it shoots straight into the lung. Potentially life threatening if it affects a major pulmonary artery. Bosh will have to be on blood thinners PRONTO. Symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain (not necessarily), and fast heart rate.

It often affects patients in the hospital, who lay down all day (hence why we make patients walk all the time or wear those compressive things on their legs). I find it intriguing that Bosh, an athlete, gets a blood clot. Maybe he has some hypercoagulable disorder or something.

Out for the season then? That would be our luck this year.

Obviously Bosh's long term health is the most important thing, but from a basketball standpoint, what do we do if he's out for the season?

Is there any chance McBob can come back?

    Andray Blatche?

Guys on the buyout market like Boozer or K-Mart?

It seems like it may be speculation but Joe Goodman put out there that the Heat "could" announce today that Bosh is out for the season with blood clots in his lungs. It's not confirmed anywhere and there is nothing on Twitter about it, so we'll see, but at this point, I think it's safe to assume he's out for awhile, even if it's not the entire season.

Eh i think we will go after Boozer but still... This is just bad news if it is serious.

Yeah kind of irresponsible that the Herald is running that piece as fact - it's pure speculation. Twitter is running with it now. Seems like we don't know anything, yet. Hope he's ok.

Obviously Bosh's health is the most important thing, but the games are still going to be played. So, at some point very soon, Riley and Spo are going to have to figure out what to do. So as fans, I think you can both be concerned for Bosh, while also wondering what we do to replace him.

Boozer seems like the best addition to me as he's sort of a poor man's Bosh. He doesn't have Bosh's range and isn't as good a defender, but he can hit the same mid-range pick and pops as Bosh and he might even be a better rebounder (at least he was, no idea what he looks like now)

So a Boozer/Haslem rotation isn't great by any stretch, but won't kill you if Wade/Dragic/Hassanity/Deng stay healthy and develop rapid chemistry

I'm still holding hope it's something else, hopefully a lot less serious. He's been bothered for weeks, that doesn't scream pulmonary embolism.

It's just a stubborn flu damn it! That's what I want, that's what I'm sticking to!

Yeah, just reading some stuff on PE, it seems like it's something that should have been noticed right away or within a few days.

It also should have been something easy to diagnose so it makes the fact that the tests were "inconclusive" even more of a mystery and even more frightening.

Even if it is PE, other guys like varejo and Teletovic have come back from it just fine. Serena Williams came back from it and is as good as ever. Sucks for this season, but if the long term prognosis is good, then that's all you can ask for.

He'll just do what he needs to do and we'll come back strong next year.

The big question for me is McBob. He was never officially ruled out for the season, and some guys have come back from Meniscus tears in as little as 6 weeks, which McBob is well passed.

I always just assumed we were sitting him for the season since we weren't going anywhere and he was a long term piece. But now that we have a real chance to do something? Can he start working out and seeing if he can play after a week or two of practice? That would certainly be a big help

Per Barry Jackson: Bosh believed to have blood clot in lung and will miss remainder of the season, though the prognosis is good and there is no reason to suspect he won't be ready for camp/next season.

He's still in hospital on blood thinners, which make it impossible to play. Too much risk of being cut, which could lead to massive blood loss.

So, while it sucks for right now, he should be good as new moving forward.

Yeah, it's crazy. From the jubilation of 3:00 yesterday to now this is ridiculous.

Thankfully Bosh should be fine long term as other players have come back from this and been fine, like Varaejo.

We just need to do what we can this season and then come back strong next year. I am sure Riley will sign somebody and we'll see what happens.

But long term, the outlook is still good for both Bosh and the Heat

This stuff on Bosh is such a sucker punch to the jubilation of yesterday. F*cking hell, what a monumental deflation.

At least Bosh is going to be ok long term.

I wonder if they'd have grabbed Goran Dragic if they knew Bosh was going to be out the rest of the season.

Boy, what a horrible blow. Can't believe it.

First and foremost, hopefully Bosh is ok. Even if he's out for the year, hopefully his health is not threatened and he returns good as new.

As for how this relates to the Heat. This team is seriously cursed. How can so much go wrong in one season? I really hope there is a buyout option, because if not we're talking about Udonis Haslem essentially being the only PF on the team. You just hope Wade can stay healthy or this could get ugly even with Dragic there.

I don't see why wouldn't they? Assuming he is out of the rest of the year and he comes back healthy next year, I don't see how this changes things. They traded away their first and a good chunk of trade chips they have, I'm sure they are intending to sign him long term.

Given the reports, it seems like he should be fine long term.

As for the Heat, there are guys available like Blatche, Boozer, K-Mart or even Beasley though I imagine that ship has sailed far into the Pacific Ocean.

Khem Birch is down in the D-League and would only coast a 10 day contract to see if there's anything there.

The best fit is probably Boozer, who can do some of the things that Bosh can do.

But McBob is the unknown. Is there any chance he can come back?

Doubt McRoberts will be ready to play till September. Boozer is the best option, he's from Miami lives here in the offseason, he can come in and itll be an opportunity for him to showcase what he got left for the free agent market.

Hes done. Lol battier wouldnt be able to get in basketball shape if you had given him a full offseason. The guy is borderline alcoholic and his legs have left him after the OKC series.

Might as well give rashard lewis a call. Battier was not in shape all season last year.

If everyone else stays healthy we will make the playoffs without Bosh. We will get bounced in the first round but we can get there without Bosh.

Spo: Bosh situation not life threatening. Much "wild speculation" out there but there is still no full diagnosis. Too much irresponsible reporting and Bosh and team will advise when something official is determined

    Dragic brothers will play Saturday

Well at least a ray of hope is Spoelstra right now in a presser saying a lot of the speculation around Bosh is wild speculation.

If only all this were internet running amok and it turns out to be something not as serious.

Teh fuk? You have anything to show in order to support the ridiculous claim that a guy that was considered one of the smartest in the league is a "borderline alcoholoic" other than the fact that Bud Light dumped bunch of beer on him as a marketing promotion and he took it? Because that is a dumb thing to say.

I keep seeing Wade being listed as reason why people wouldn't want to come play in Miami and I don't get it. We are not talking about old Kobe here who still putting up 20 shots a night on 37% (!!!) He is second in PER behind only the beard who is having an MPV like season. If last 4 years showed anything it is that Wade is more than willing to move aside in order to win championships. If anything he will be one of the reasons people will look at Miami as a good destination, IMO, along with Whiteside, Dragic, Bosh not to mention, you know, Miami itself and the HEAT Organization.

Definitely an interesting question. At the end of the day, though, that price for that player is a homerun, especially when he fits the roster so well. How the remainder of the season projects is secondary. Still so bummed. The eff man.

Oh I think they would have. Numerous reports say the Heat have coveted Dragic for some time now and PG was a blackhole for the team for a while. Dragic now makes it a strength. Then you add the fact the Heat got him for a very good deal too.

We still would've traded for Dragic I have no doubt, but I also imagine we would've tried to get a PF as well in a deal.

Dragic was about the next 4 years more than the next 4 months. He's clearly valued as a core piece going forward.

Presuming that Bosh makes a full recovery (god willing and it seems likely) and we sign Dragic to the max or near the max, I wonder if we will use the mid-level to supplement the bench. If we do, that pretty much rules out getting another max player in 2016 presuming Hassanity gets the max or something close.

We may simply be "good player" hunting by then rather than Kevin Durant hunting
