    We were?

Granted, I don't remember the numbers and I didn't pay that much attention, but I thought we were always close to the top in pace during the LeBron years.

We certainly don't look to run that much this year, which is fine.

Did someone just take a hit on our fanbase whilst being a Dolphins fan a team with the lowest tv ratings and poor attendance? Get out of here with that crap and our NBA attendance is in the top 10 without Lebron.

The Heat are going to have to actually be good at home to get this whole Hassan Whiteside savior narrative into full gear.

But in their defense, since Whiteside actually started getting minutes they haven't played a lot of home games. I think Oklahoma City was their opportunity to show that they can be a better home team with Whiteside but he got hurt after only 11 minutes.

Next two games would be a great start, particularly tomorrow night against the Bucks.

Pretty much. I think what you would expect if this Whiteside thing were real would be one victory and one competitive finish. Hopefully two victories but I think there has to be some forgiveness if they go 1-1.

Less than that and maybe we need to re-think the idea that a healthy 25 to 30-minute Whiteside makes the Heat as competitive as anyone in the East.

Sure, 1-1 would be fine, Milwaukee being the far more important game.

But if the Heat go 2-0, with the game on Dallas being national on ESPN Friday night and the country sees the same Hassan Whiteside that we've seen, the mania will begin.

You'll start seeing the Heat get added to national schedules and there will be 2 months of speculation regarding a Cavs-Heat first round

    Really....

Same guy that people laughed at when he called Lebrons return a year before it happened? The same guy that said Cleveland would be better than Miami once Lebron switched, the same guy that predicted your title number TO A TEE back in 2010?

Yea that guy is ALWAYS wrong.

I guess we can type whatever our minds (or hearts in this case) want to, we still have until June before any proof of who is wrong or right will be revealed. Until then?? Homer away.

I know you've mentioned which stats you care about in the past - is it just Def Eff or do you care about Net Rtg?

You still have a shot to disprove my last 2 "things I'm always wrong about" 5 short months is all you have to wait. We can also wager any amount you want on both of these things....I trust Boik wouldn't spend the escrow on oversized beer mugs and bearded NY hookers.

Net Rtg. is very important, but Def. Eff. goes into that, and the Cavs (as good as they are offensively (#7)) cannot make up the difference.

Cavs Eff. Diff. (same as Net Rtg.) is currently at +1.9, good for 13th in the NBA.

    http://www.nbastuffer.com/2014-2015_NBA_Regular_Season_Advanced_Stats.html

Now...the Cavs last 5 games...have been GREAT. But Miami is also the #2 ranked Defense in the last 8 games.

    I don't believe either.

you said CLEARLY, back then...that "maybe" the Heat can win 2 titles in 6 YEARS.

Lebron played 4 years. Made 4 finals. won 2.

I clearly said 3 in 6 years was my expectation and 5 FINALS appearances.

Who was actually closer? Me? or the guy that called them the Washington Redskins of Basketball? remember that?

In the 6 games since the Cavs got LeBron back, they have the best offense and Net Rtg in the NBA and are 6-0 with wins over the Clippers, Bulls, Thunder, and Hornets. They're 16th in Def Eff but opponents have shot just 43% over those 6 games with the last 4 shooting under 42%.

Like CK said - you can make the numbers say what you want in these sort of sample sizes - but this is still a squad that due to injury / trades has barely played together, so it's not crazy to think the defense could improve from here.

(This wasn't so much in response to anyone - just pulling the numbers and putting them here for discussion)

It's hard with both of these teams because the meaninful lineups have spent so little time together. Most of the Cavs lineup data still has Dion Waiters or Anderson Varejao. I'm sure the Heat lineups have similar flukey data.

That Feb 11th game will be fun because both teams should have had enough time to get the new pieces put together and be a more accurate representation of where they'll be in the playoffs.

Me. I said 2 titles, they had?????? 2 titles.

And without wasting time finding any old stuff I recall you said 3 was what it would take to feel like they "lived up to it" not what you actually predicted.

Talk to me in June, when I'm wrong again.

Gerald Henderson is also available. The Hornets are trying to trade for Joe Johnson and offering Henderson, Lance and Marvin Williams. I assume the Nets will make those players available if it goes down.

They might be interested in Cole though as a small expiring to trade to the Nets. The Nets are not looking to absorb long term contracts.

Don't want Lance. This team doesn't need a headcase destroying team chemistry at a time when we're on the rise.

If the Heat could get anything back for Cole I'd take it at this point. He's been pretty awful since his hot start and now is #3 behind Napier. I don't know how I'd feel about Lance. If his head is on straight, he could be exactly what the Heat need. That's a big 'if' though.

The best short term fix is Gerald Henderson. He makes us ALOT better.

Lance is the best longterm pickup.

Really? PG seems like the most pressing need, which Stephenson could play. You think he needs to ball too much to play with Wade?

I don't think anyone thinks that would happen straight up. But it seems like the Hornets have been looking to deal Stephenson for over a month now.

They seem pretty desperate to get rid of Lance.

You give them Cole and McBob, who they loved and didn't want to lose, and basically both teams kind of get a do-over on last off season, when the Heat were interested in Lance.

Lance certainly comes with negatives, but he was a net positive in Indiana on the floor, who had a strong organization and coach. Same things would apply here. Plus he has a team option in 2016, so you can cut bait easily, or he becomes an extremely valuable $9 million expiring contract to trade.
