Just looked at the cost of the trade.... Pros: Kevin Love Cons: gets rid of all young depth/talent, operate as a capped team with only Min. contracts to fill bench, there is no guarantee that Love will change his game to help Bron. The talent base will be filled with guys that have awful Def. Ratings. (opposite of the Heat in 2010) It is a zero/sum trade. It does force the hand of the rookie GM to perform and have to draw talent to....Cleveland.
Really? Who else would they have to give up aside from Wiggins? I'd imagine that's all the T-Wolves would need, but I guess the contracts may not match up.
There's also no guarantee that Love stays there. He isn't going to sign an extension now and once he becomes a free agent and the Lakers call, that could be very tempting
I do wonder if LeBron's one year deals will turn off guys from Cleveland. Why would Kevin Love commit long term to Cleveland when LeBron could bolt at any time?
I'd stick with Wiggins, personally. Don't think it'd be a good move to let go of a 19 year-old rare athlete on a rookie deal. Remember: this kid was considered the top pick in the draft for like the last 14+ months. That counts for something. If I'm Cleveland I want to see how LeBron maximizes Wiggins' game on offense...and how that pair would be a couple prowling sharks on defense. What's the rush on this trade, anyways? Couldn't Cleveland wait until the start of the season, or even a month or two into it?
So the Cavs personally tell Wiggins they won't be trading him, then do it? Wonderful way to treat players
No reason for the Wolves to rush. Love will be valuable at the trade deadline. And if they start winning perhaps his stance will soften. Not a slam dunk he gets traded any time soon
LeBron gave them his stamp of approval, so it is what it is. They will be immune from criticism for a while
They can't be traded for 30 day after they sign, but Wiggins is unsigned. Unsigned players count $0 towards matching salary, which makes it even dumber to give him up (and another reason why I don't think it will happen).
I think he just means if it happens. I mean wouldn't you agree that's kind of...unprofessional? To tell a guy you aren't moving him then trade him a week later?
Not sure why you'd ever want Chuckford unless you were trying to make an AND1 mixtape. Didnt like him as a Knick, I like him a little more on other teams. The only positive about him is he hits big shots. But when the shots arent falling hes a worse version of JR Smith. At least JR tries to play D. Who can forget this classy moment: And the comeback by LaLa after Carmelo waited by the Celtics team bus.... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/43217/lala-anthony-tweaks-jordan-crawford If the Cavs were smart they would trade Kyrie instead of Wiggins. Much easier to find a PG nowadays instead of a potentially elite wing. True but thats a lot to give up for a player who may not resign. The issue is that Minny doesnt want to take back Lee's 2 years and 30M that GSW has to move for that to work. Is that really winning? No, hes said that he would sign if Lebron was there. No, hes underrated. Hes not in the Lebron-Durant league...which is limited to Lebron and Durant right now....but hes in that next tier with Melo-CP3-Dirk-Curry-D12-Rose (if hes back to what he was), Aldridge, Duncan and a few others. If you have 2 of those guys you probably have a 2nd round team. If you have 2 plus another all star type who isnt quite elite (OKC, formerly Miami, SAS, etc) you probably have a real contender. Im not sure hes a lead guy on a championship team but next to a Melo or a Lebron I think hes just fine.
I was all for (from a Cavs perspective) trading for Love....till I just saw the cost and the new cap situation. It's ridiculous. Remember, the Heat actually took paycuts to be able to have healthy MM and UD. This would be the Three guys and nobody else but Min. guys.
Love is a good player. That's it. Wiggins should be untouchable, Love is not in Wiggins league. It'd be like trading young KD or Wade for Love. No Way.
So the player who has proved NOTHING should be untouchable but the Power Forward coming off one of the best seasons in NBA history is merely good? Quick tell me another power forward who ever put up: 25PPG/10RPG/4APG/50% from 2/38% from 3 (while taking at least 1 a game)/82% FT.... Research away....its gonna be a while. You HOPE Wiggins gets to that level. Personally, I dont think he ever will.
Please go GM the Bulls or Heat or Pacers or Celtics. Love is in his early prime. You cant get a safer 1st round pick then that who is an elite player. The only part of this I agree with you on is that Id rather trade Kyrie if I were them because there are sooooo few good SG right now.
Nope. Didnt meet the 1 per game requirement at any point in his career. Hes also never averaged 25ppg or 4 apg in a season. And he had some great years in Toronto stat wise but thats how good a year Love just had. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/boshch01.html Ill give you a hint: The list is really really short.
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 5m LeBron James has reached to tell Kevin Love of his desire for them to play together with the Cavaliers, front office sources tell Yahoo.
Wow I remember being at that game like it was yesterday. That place was ear deafening on the Wade 3... amazing game. Also, absolutely loved that team. Odom, Butler, Wade, Grant, EJ, etc... classic roster that was a ton of fun to watch.
Love has never played defense so I guess they are even. Bosh did 24 ppg and 10.8 rpg. Arbitrary end points and all.....
Understood. But the difference between a 26 PER and a 25 PER is really...nothing. But yes. Love had a great year.
I know lebrons essay made some believe he sincerely wanted to be home, which he probably did, but I'm guessing a couple years of falling short might frustrate the guy and he could possibly jet. Kevin love should only sign for 2 years if the trade goes through. I wouldn't trade wiggins with lebron only signed for 1 year.
Correct. I wasn't so much drawing a love vs bosh comparison because they're at different stages of their career. Love will never be a great defender because of his lack of foot speed. But he does maximize his offense on a level that no one ever did. No one ever did what he did last year and he's what, 26? Only a handful of players ever did 50% from 2/38 from three (min 1 attempt per game) 82%ft and 25 ppg. No one did it while adding 10+ RPG and 4 RPG. If anything you proved my point I was trying to make to dez that love is on boshs level
