I wonder if Joel Anthony's relatively small salary could be peddled to a cap space team for some future 2nd round pick we never actually get.

Miller was a lot more expensive but much more useful than Joel who would seem to be in line for even less playing time this year with Bird on board for a full season

Serious question for a minute. The Heat pulled in Rashard Lewis last year and then never used him. Isn't that kind of why you'd be cool with doing this if it means saving $40 million over two years?

 

Also, Chris Joseph had the best tweet about this. Wear one shoe for the rest of the work day, in tribute to MM.

 

Ethan Skolnick is a little upset. Not at the Heat, but at someone in the media. He's saying the Heat were in the midst of trade dicussions and then the news leaked and it forced them to go public. Skolnick said "There's a serious lack of integrity in this business. I'll just leave it at that." And then he clarified that he didn't mean the Heat, he meant the media.

He also said that Miller was convinced this would happen last year and auctioned off his house because of it, that he desperately wanted more playing time this season and even requested a trade early in the season because he wasn't playing enough to his liking. He said this will work out better for Miller who is totally fine with it.

 

Okay..there is no god damn integrity anywhere.

So I will just reveal everything I know:

A) Mike Miller asked for a trade earlier this year.

B) Mike Miller and Coach Spo did not mix.

C) He broke a retirement promise.

D) There was wide spread acrimony among Mike and coaches, and front office staff.

E) Heat tried to trade him for a Center and failed.

 

I saw Ethan harping on this as well. To what are you guys referring?

 

Well this just got interesting....

 

He broke the Miller story..then got it stolen from him by everybody. I then passed something on to him, and that got pushed all over twitter as well as their own.

Nobody attributes ****.

 

Interesting that he and Spo didn't mix. They seemed fine in public and Spo did turn to him when necessary in the Finals.

What center did we try and trade him for, if you know? Gortat has a similar salary....

 

wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get Gortat in a three-way deal.

I'm sad to see Mike Miller go. He was part of the original vision for this current team, but that niche is now filled by Ray Allen. Still, Miller is a champion, and no one can take Game 5 vs the Thunder away from him. Or the sombrero in the Harlem Shake video.

Mike Miller reeks of a guy that will come back to haunt us. although...the position he plays puts him in danger of getting erased by you know who.

Wouldn't shock me if Miller gets claimed by an under the cap team. You can get him pretty cheap and it's only two years max, so he's not really a progress stopper (wait, did I just use am El Jeffe term?)

A team like Detroit who is inexplicably trying to get the 7th or 8th seed and needs shooters for spacing would seem a logical spot for a claim

 

Maybe even a Charlotte bobcat team, who just signed Al Jefferson and needs wings.

Heat tried to make a three-way trade to land Marcin Gortat. Failed.

 

Miller was a pretty big piece, but as a GM these are the very tough but needed decisions sometimes you have to make.....Honestly I wouldn't doubt if that talk between Riles and Miller got emotional today....you are talking about a stand up dude, came to work everyday and never complained or half-assed it on any level.....not to mention the guy was lights out when you needed him the most.....

Good GM's makes these difficult moves to futher sustain the success of the organization because in the end it is always the organization that comes first in any sport....

 

Damn gonna miss MM13. Always been one of my fave players in this league. His magic in the playoffs is unforgettable. Thank you, Mike.


On the other hand - I am officially restarting the Free James Jones brigade. And Rashard, too. Why not?
