The ironic part here is that what I'm saying is actually what the guy running the Knicks believes as well.

You know thats one of the more astute observations youve made. He does leave a fan wanting more at times but at the same time hes recognized as great at what he does.

LOL, welcome to my world. When Ive had to defend the Heat it feels just dirty. Like I want to shower and wash 2x just to be sure the dirt is off

Yeah most of that time in the West where 50 wins brought you a 7th seed and a smile. 55 brought you a BJ and 5 seed some of those year. When has Nene, or K Mart or Billups duplicated their success after Melo? Oh, they havent you say? Exactly.

A single player can only carry a player in the East 5 years ago when 52 wins brought you a 2 seed. And a comparison to McGrady is completely invalid. McGrady was a point forward who was more athletic. Melo is a 3/4 tweener who can play either position well and hes much stronger and more physical. The comparison for Carmelo is a healthy, more athletic Bernard King.

Lebron carried his team to the finals over what teams in the east? What were those teams records? What stars did he beat?

Billups, Nene, K Mart, JR Smith and everyone else in Denver. Everyone on the current and previous 2 years Knicks roster.

Really? the guy who had Kobe thinks Melo isnt a winning player? Hahaha the irony. Theyre almost identical. Kobe had more athleticism/jumping and passing ability. Melo is more rugged and a better rebounder. Both are/were dominant scorers. And Phils comments recently were exactly the opposite. He wants Melo to be part of the team and he thinks Melo can get to another level.

Holy crap, did Melo not sign an autograph? I see you trollin'....

Lol at the Bernard King comparison. Bernard King has echoed my sentiments on Anthony before.

“I was always taught — Take High Percentage shots — don’t force it — don’t be a one man show — don’t over dribble — ball movement.”

A bigger LOL at Carmelo and Kobe being "identical". Kobe Bryant has made NBA all defense team 12 times. Carmelo has made it a whopping zero. Yeah, if you choose to ignore 50% of the game, then you might have a case for them being identical.

Oddly enough...his Offensive efficiency in this game was equal to what Harden has done all year.

He also managed to hold Courtney Lee, Tony Allen, and Mike Miller to 3-15 Collective shooting Isolated one on one. (Synergy) Something James Harden will never do for the rest of his career.

thank god for game logs as well....because......

Oddly Enough..Courtney Lee had his 2nd, 3rd, and 5th most efficient games this year...versus.....Houston. I wonder who plays SG for them?

Tony Allen had several DNP's vs. a particular team...but he somehow managed to have his 2nd most efficient offensive game of the year...versus.....Houston.

    I am sensing a theme.....

and of course....Harden had two efficient games in a row..and managed to TIE Dwyane Wade in PER. Congratulations. But here come the 7-18's with 6 TO's....we all know that's coming. It's Harden afterall.

Carmelo Anthony is the 2nd best scorer in the NBA. He is a first ballot hall of famer.

His only issue is his Basketball IQ. That will come with better teammates. It happens all the time. That Knicks team did not play the Heat in the ECF's last year because of many reasons....NONE of them were Carmelo Anthony.

Pat Riley said Melo is the best scorer he has EVER seen coming out of college. He has merely modified that to the Best wing scorer he has ever seen.

    Pat Riley is no idiot.

i think carmelo is one of the best but could be better. i think what prevents him from being compared to the bernard kings, jordans, birds is that he doesnt have the killer instinct. he is ok with losing. king, jordan and bird hated and i mean hated losing. even a preseason game, even a one on one in the backyard game, even a monopoly game. so to me carmelo's only weakness is that he's a bit soft. more of a marshmello than a carmelo.......thank you ladies and germs. i'll be here all night. kindly tip your waiters and waitresses

harden with only 20 points and 9 assists at halftime. he may be the worst player i have ever seen. its definitely not better than wade's 14 points and 4 assists for an entire game. wade is the man.

you guys have convinced me wade is the best sg in the nba this year. i'm on your side. since this discussion has began, he has thoroughly outplayed harden...not stat-wise, but just thinking about what he was in the past makes him the best this year. what he did back then is totally relevant to the topic of who is better right now. have you not seen what i've been typing? wade is the man. harden sucks.

Thats funny because you know who Carmelo always modeled his game after? Bernard King. When Melo was growing up in Brooklyn then Baltimore it coincided with Melo's family moving. Hes spoken about how he watched and emulated King play. I remember bits and pieces of King playing from my childhood and Im sure if we researched it we would find extreme similarities in their styles shot charts and per game averages across the board.

As for Melo/Kobe...I meant on offense. I think its quite obvious that Kobe at his peak was a better defender. I think with a better cast Melo can raise his game and hes shown signs of it at times. But in terms of their personalities they are both ball dominant players that want the last shot. And I bet if we gave Melo Shaq in his prime or Pau and Bynum in their primes Melo could probably duplicate the results. You probably know that though and it scares you.

Theres 2 things I would say to this....
    1) Carmelo has moments where he leaves you wanting more. So do most players. You would have said the same about Dirk, KG and Pierce until 5 years ago. I wouldnt call him soft or say that he doesnt have a killer instinct. Youre talking about a player who takes and makes as many last minute shots as anyone since hes been in the league. And his percentages have generally been good in close and late (under 2 minutes to tie or take the lead)
    2) You mentioned Jordan and Bird...Jordan had Pippen. Bird had McHale. Melo had.....? Nene? End of his prime Billups? Half a year of healthy Amare? Whose his Robin? Hell he hasnt even had an Alfred (i.e. a great HC)....and no, I dont consider George Karl a good HC. Like was said above, you cant ignore half the game.
No one said Harden is trash. I think what theyre saying is hes probably 2nd best at SG. Maybe one takes a healthy Kobe over Harden. Thats an opinion. I think their point was that Wade beats up Harden every time they play. Its not wrong that you love your team and your player. Carmelo is my favorite player despite a few flaws. It is what it is. :wink2:

I 100% agree that Carmelo is a great scorer. I don't see much else to his game though. If you want to win in this league, you have to be a great defensive team, and Carmelo sure as hell isn't creating that.

The only thing that scared me was when someone suggested Carmelo could theoretically end up on the Heat. I actually think Phil Jackson going to NY was a good move for the Knicks, primarily because he will demand Carmelo changes the way he plays the game, or he'll be gone.

Carmelo has spoken countless times about how he would like to be less of a scorer but feels the burden to carry the offense and I think its particularly true of his tenure in NY. The whole reason he wanted to come here was to team with Amare so he wouldnt have to score 25 a night to win games. What happened? Amare got hurt and hasnt been the same player for 2 and a half years or so. Only now is he starting to look a little like the old Amare and even now you can see he lacks some explosion. As a result its had to be Melo and more Melo. Who else is going to reliably drop 20 for the Knicks? Tyson Chandler? No, decent rebounder and defender, but a scorer? Not at all. They tried to bring in Bargnani for that role, that failed miserably. JR smith? You cant even rely on him for anything other then at least 1 bonehead play or incident most nights. Tell me how the Knicks are supposed to win if Carmelo doesnt take 25-30 shots a night because it sure as heck isnt with felton and Shannon Brown taking 15 shots a game. Carmelo is not unwilling to change his game as you perceive; he simply cant if he wants to make the playoffs right now. If he had, I dont know say Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh running shotgun with him I think he'd feel much more comfortable with giving up shot attempts and focusing more on his all around game.

and there is that matter of Wade out-scoring Harden H2H 18-0.

    Eighteen to Zero.

What else has to be said, you were made to look like a clown, and now you are making a further fool of yourself. I am AMUSED...it's gonna make my first post on here after Houston gets eliminated in the 1st round.....EPIC.

If Melo ended up on the Heat...he would lead the Team in Scoring and we would win somewhere around 68-70 games. We would also win our 4th in a row...and work on all-time greatest team status.

As for the heat..what else is there to say?

They play with great toughness vs. a VERY HOT (23-8) Grizz team...beat them with great defense down the stretch.....

Then play like dog**** the very next night vs. the Brow and the Pee-cans.

This is now a consistent pattern of over a month of good play vs. Good Teams and horrific play vs. sub .500 teams.

    Ask yourself this....

HOW can the Miami Heat have the BEST record vs. the top 4 seeds in each conference in the NBA...but not have the best record in the NBA? and worse..by 4 games out of the best record in the NBA?

Finally..Chris Bosh said something, but I must say, Lebron James has revealed some terrible character flaws. He keeps saying that he won't make excuses.........then of course....He then makes a ton of excuses....

    A) The Sleeves suck.
    B) Wade being healthy threw off my game.
    C) Teams get lucky from three against us.
    D) We are running offense through Wade in the 4th quarter.
    E) I am trying to get Chris Bosh involved.
    F) I have a hitch on my free throw stroke that only my AAU coach fixed recently.
    G) I got back Spasms.
    H) My nose re-broke...and the NBA won't let me wear the mask I am comfortable with.
    I) I'm not getting a rhythm because I don;t get as many shots when Wade is healthy.
    J) They have me defending 1 thru 5. (which is BS this year)
    K) They foul me and I don't get calls. (kinda true..but stop complaining.)
    L) Nobody takes more cheap shots than me.

Just shut the **** up and dominate.

Lebron has seemed depressingly human since he broke his nose. Just seems so passive right now.

And as Lebron goes so does this whole team.
