Lebron is so on he's trying 35 foot threes

If Lebron keeps this up it will be another 60.

25 first quarter points for Lebron.

How about 3 more of that exact number :shifty:

So true. I thought Oden protecting the rim had a lot to do with our early run. As well as nailing those early threes obviously.

Ah jeez. No real interest in attacking, clearly.

Lotta games in March. Gotta save energy I suppose.

    Wow. Bosh that was scary.

Wow what a BS technical on Cole. Apparently if you get tangled up with a guy its a tech, even if you're patting eachother on the back.

Varejo stripped him driving to the basket and he twisted funny. Almost hyperextended his knee and was down for a minute.

He got up fine and hit his free throws but it just looked nasty.

That's a thing of beauty. The penetration dribble, no look, around the defender's back pass to the arc is a under-rated move. It minds me of the good old days.

You are aware that Phil asked for (and got) THREE TIMES what PAT ****ING RILEY Makes a Year?

This smells of a Parcellian Money Grab.

That sounds like you hoping it's a money grab :)

I think Phil has plans or he wouldn't have taken the job.

Nope. I really think it's a money grab.

It is never a good thing when you BUY somebody's loyalty. That never ends well.

I think Phil Jackson engaged in a cynical strong arm negotiation and Dolan folded, and made him an offer he could not refuse.

    His heart is in L.A.

Think of this....you could have had ANY executive you wanted for HALF that money. ANY. RC Buford? Sam Presti?

Losing Melo is the best thing that can happen to the Knicks. Guy is a loser.

You seriously think his heart is in this? I don't, and it has nothing to do with being a Knick.

Like Section said, anytime you have to buy loyalty it isn't good. Especially from a guy who wanted to stay retired.

I think the Phil Jackson plan is "I'm Phil Jackson and I'm sure stars will want to be associated with me".

In all fairness this line of thinking is probably at least partially correct. You think we've never leveraged the perception of Riley as a winner?

Of course. I think there is a difference though. Riley has been part of the Heat organization for how long now and been successful? With Phil he's a face with no executive track record, no team building experience in this sense.

I would have the same reservations if it were any other team.

Pretty nice though not as zen as they say. Somewhat disappointing to learn that. Pretty funny too.

For the record I'm not saying he will fail. I'm saying there are some serious red flags.

For the record I agree there are red flags, but he gives the Knicks scads more credibility than anything they previously had

    This, basically.

There is NO downside to this, none. They can't possibly end up worse off than what they've been, and money? Even if Sect is right and Phil wasn't planning on going there but was made an offered he cant refuse, he is there now, and I'm sure he will try his best to bring success to the franchise. As for money? **** it. God knows Dolan has been throwing money at all the wrong people, why not try paying somebody who might know what he is doing after all? Not my money, or Boik's money or FinO's money. I'm sure they are happy.

Were Buford or Presti available? No. So theyre irrelevant. Theyre under contract for next year. Who else were they going to get? Joe Dumars? Leave Steve Mills who is more of a numbers guy? Bring Grunwald back in to a lead role?

Stick to football. Thats such a garbage remark. Keep acting like he hasnt been to the playoffs every year since hes been in the league.

Im sure money had something to do with it. After all 5 years and 60 million is a lot of money. But Phil is also moving to NY during the season. He actually got Dolan to give up control which he wouldnt even do for Donnie Walsh who is widely respected as a great GM.

I agree. Im sure this wont be a honeymoon. Phil has never been a GM/President. Hes never been the guy buying the groceries, hes always been the guy coaching them and helping them perform better. Im curious though to see the results because since the rumors starting heating up theyve won 6 in a row. So the guys in the locker room are hearing it. The light has gone on a little bit.
Exactly. Dolan throws money at the dumbest of the dumb...eddy curry, jerome james, zach randolph (when he was younger and dumber), stephon marbury...the list is endless. Why not Phil? At least hes won something and accomplished everything.

Incidentally, it was Isiah that recruited Phil for this gig. No, seriously, it was. Back in 2004, Isiah recruited Phil and wanted him to coach. Phil at the time had just left LAL the first time and he was on siesta. I know for a fact they had multiple conversations and Phil and Isiah talked about about what it was like working for Dolan. Isiah loved Dolan so he sold him on the idea but Phils heart wasnt in to it then. He had just left the Lakers and he wanted the time off. Phil went in to this interview with an open mind. As Phil talked about on the broadcast of the NYK/Indy game tonight, Phil and Dolan had talked at some kind of get together out in LA and that lead to the actual move. Maybe Isiah isnt all bad? As long as he stays FAR away from the Knicks :)
