Kyrie and the #1 for Love/Rubio

Cleveland makes trade with no assurances that Love re-signs.

So if the Cavs are trading for Love they think they're putting together a contender since Love doesn't want to re-up with another loser. However you said this is mildly Heat related so it doesn't sound like Lebron is in their hopes.

    Hmmmm

come on guys...think..what makes sense for both teams if they make this "hypothetical" trade?

Hint..this is really bad for Cleveland....

Love isn't going to sign a new contract in Cleveland. Are they brokering him to a third source?

They need a Luol Deng S&T as part of the deal to make the salaries work?

So Cleveland ends up with a Love/Rubio/Waiters core, probably a pick swap with Minny at 13, then Love leaves. Cleveland not only fails to attract any other free against but also gave up Embiid/Wigging/Parker for one year of Love, which might not even get them into the playoffs.

    Forgot about Varaejo.

I'd make that deal if I was Minny.

Kyrie/Wiggins core? Sounds good to me.

Love wants to go to a contender. Who's in the market that has assets they would part with for Love

    You guys revealed enough.

Minnesota is interested in Kyrie for Love.

Cleveland has been told that Love will NOT sign an extension with Cleveland.

Cleveland has also been told that Kyrie Irving WILL not sign an extension with Minnesota if traded.

2 + 2 = 4, which means that Kyrie will Make the open market.

    Hello LA, Hello NY.......Hello Miami?

If Love is moving to a 3rd team it has to be the Lakers. But then what does Cleveland get out of this? What veteran star from a team that wants Love could they get?

    My noodle is baking.....Klay Thompson/Bogut?

The reason this is all kinds of bad for Cleveland, is that Kyrie Irving is trying to leverage his RFA into a FA.

It won;t work unless the Cavs are utterly incompetent, but what;s to say that LA or NY don;t play it coy and force the issue with a poison pill in 15'-16'?

So Kyrie wants out of Cleveland immediately, and Brian Windhorst wants us to believe LeBron wants to go back.

    OK.

What the Cavs ought to be doing is forgetting these delusions of grandeur and just start building competently.

They've already blown most of the high picks they've gotten but they almost can't screw this one up (assuming Embiid stays healthy).

Draft a hopeful star at #1, and try and convince Kyrie to stay. And if he wants to leave trade him, and build around people who want to be there. Stop chasing ghosts.

Birdman and Ray Allen both questionable for tomorrow night, though both traveled.

Even more important that we figure out a way to close this thing down tomorrow night

Hardaway may prove to be a very valuable piece by then. NY never cares about draft picks. A Bargnani expiring?

I was listening to Mike and Mike the other day and they referenced something Tom Penn said about the Heat and this offseason. He said that while everyone thinks this could be the end of the Heat's run, it could legitimately be the beginning of the next chapter. He said that these guys have already taken less to win, so what if they decide to take even less to stay together and make room for another big piece or two? I hadn't thought about that because many people seem to feel they'll all be looking for max deals, but all 3 of them have made plenty of money and have probably gotten pretty accustomed to winning. If this does really happen, I wonder who else they could bring in?

Chris Bosh should be giving up the least money to stay with the big 3.

The reality is that James and Wade will make a lot more taking less salary from the Heat, if they are winning championships. Their endorsement dollars increase exponentially the more they win. Being a TV staple during May and June brings them a lot more publicity. Hell, Mario ****ing Chalmers has a shoe deal. That doesn't happen if he's on any team other than Miami. Wade probably benefits from being on a winner the most. Bosh the least. LeBron somewhere in the middle.

Whatever money these guys are giving up in salary from the Heat, they are making back by being on a championship contender year after year.

If the Heat are bringing in another big piece, my money is on Kevin Love. Fits in well with what they do IMO.

Melo is obviously the first name you think about. He's obviously an incredibly good player, but he's very risky in that I don't know how receptive he'd be to taking a lesser role. If he did, the team would be unbeatable, but that's a big IF.

Gasol would be a fantastic fit. I do think the Heat need to focus on getting younger, but he'd be a great compliment to what the Heat already have. Randolph would probably be the best case scenario. I like the other names you mentioned too.

I always say Chris Bosh is the perfect fit as a big man with this team because of what they need and what he brings. Love might be the only big man in the league that fits even better because he still gives you the outside shooting, but also can reboud with the best of them. It would be an interesting fit with him AND Bosh, and I'm not sure even Riley could pull that one off, but that would be incredible.

The fascinating part about Love is that he's a very good outsider shooter for his position, but he's not a very good mid-range shooter. I would think that the Heat coaching staff could do wonders for him.

Exactly. It really is incredible how much they have improved players that get here..and they do it by just pure analytics and showing them the facts. Regimented basketball works for role players.
