Not really....honestly. In baseball if you rest a starter it doesn't impact the game the same way as it does in basketball. Especially resting three starters who aren't even in the building. If I go see a baseball game I honestly don't even care what players I see because even a team resting two or three starters can easily beat a team at full strength. The quality of game doesnt drop as dramatically. Also SA knew they were going to do this at the start of the season. Maybe it would have been nice to say something then and not have people waste their money on tickets that were probably VERY expensive due to the match up.
I went to a Yankee/Seattle game for the sole purpose to see Ken Griffey jr play. He was benched that day. It happens. Shouldn't fine a team for it. It's their call, not the leagues to decide who plays or doesn't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Parker is completely healthy...and he's young. he could have played. Green is 25 years old. In the NBA there is different pricing for games. The Spurs essentially defrauded fans. Had they announced before the season that they would do that, the Heat would have priced their seats accordingly and fans would have been protected. The only guy that you could make a legitimate case for sitting was Duncan..and that;s because he's old.
Greg Popovich could give two shnits about Heat fans. It's his job to make the decision and he made one.
Them as in the owner. Greg is sitting back looking like a man who stands behind his principles. Misguided? Maybe. But I like any coach who coaches how HE wants.
Heat would be dominant if we ever decided to play a full game. 12-3 is a nice record though...and how often can you say a team struggling is 12-3?
What? So if the Dodgers decide to rest Clayton Kershaw on a day hes scheduled to pitch and instead they go with some minor league call up that doesnt affect the game as dramatically? When the Colts rested Peyton Manning allowing the Jets to beat them in the last game of the regular season 3 years ago that didnt affect the game dramatically? Whether the Heat were toying or just had a crap game they almost lost. My hatred for Miami aside how much egg would Stern have on his face had SAS won that game. Even if Pop did know it, Stern would have threatened him in advance. At least this way he got the day off he wanted for his players. Parker is 30, thats not young by NBA standards. Especially since he came in as a 19 or 20 year old. Ginobli and Duncan are old. Ginobli and Green legitimately would have missed that game with injuries anyway. So every time a baseball player rests they defraud fans too? Thats garbage. I guess baseball teams and hockey teams have to announce ahead of time which players are scratched too? And yes some teams price different games differently in those sports too....
Maybe my perspective is different because I really don't care about individual baseball or football players enough to go and see a game just for them. I go to see my team regardless of who is playing. To answer your question: Teams generally only rest pitchers for legitimate reasons. That would never happen 13 games into the season unless it was injury related. I mainly meant position players honestly. I'm ready to move on though. I just feel bad for fans who paid that money to see a great matchup and got an egg of a game. It was close but not because it was good. It was barely watchable.
Actually pitchers are usually the ones that are "babysat". It especially happens in cold whether when things like tendonitis are more likely to occur. I agree I see my team regardless of who is playing...I was just proving a point that it can happen in other sports as well and have an adverse affect on the team and those around them. The Colts sat Manning for the second half of two straight games I believe and they lost their edge and got knocked out. I feel bad for those fans as well but Ive been to baseball games where the Mets rested David Wright...I wasnt happy and it does affect the fan experience. But the coach has a right to do it in any sport if he feels its in the best interest of the team and it doesnt adversely affect the league. If the Wizards sat out John Wall the last 20 games to increase their odds at the #1 pick for example, David Stern better be fining them 250K per game.
sorry pop is dumb last thing you want to do is piss stern off just look at how bad the spurs got jobbed by the refs in game 5 of the wcf last year
Funny thing is, if the roles were reverse, and the heat did this, everyone would defend what they did and be pissed at Stern
This is ridiculous. You can almost see when the team looks at each other and says, okay lets win this right quick, and they erase a 15 point lead and end up blowing them out. Their ability to go from coasting to Flying Death Machine is ridiculous. Also, Wade doing Wade things. Good to see.
Honestly I'd be kind of pissed. I'm of the opinion that you want to win every game until you have home court in the finals locked down. Then rest your guys.
BTW..that had to be an emasculating loss for BK. They played as well as they could...built a lead..and the Heat erased it in a matter of 3 minutes and then blew them out. Heat held BK to 11 points, and 14% shooting in the 4th. Wade being Wade was nice to see...That Alley Oop dunk made Barkley look like more of an idiot than usual ("He is losing his athleticism")
Gerald Wallace was saying he felt they were as good as us after the two games they played us. Talk about seeing what you want to see.
No, next he will say they didnt have Brook Lopez and ignore the fact that Blatche played pretty darn well. Thats an ignorant Net thing to say.
The Nets scored 32 and 30 points in two second halves vs. the Heat. Gerald Wallace....STFU. BTW..Lakers got beat down at home vs. the Orlando Tragic tonight. Lakers are now 8-9...with 8 of the next 9 on the road....
17-1?... Heat have beaten the Knicks twice in NY since Woody took over...So the Heat are the only team to beat NY in NY since Woody took over?
Actually yes the heat are the only team to win in MSG since woody took over. And 17-1 reflects regular season.
No one has had the year he has had. NBA MVP Finals MVP Olympic Gold Medal and the first of many championships.
