I'd say Dirks defense is probably only marginally better, but there's no question Dirk's offense is way better at this point. As far as overall defenders, MySynergySports has them as follows: Chris Bosh is ranked 75th overall and 17th in isolation situations Gasol - 91st and 163rd KG - 108th and 270th Smith - 218th and 286th Dirk - 302nd and 249th Duncan - 34th and 25th. Blake is ranked 341st overall and 191st. Keep in mind, these numbers are achieved by ranking points per possession, which is basically the average number of points per possession the opposition scores against you. Blake Griffin is one of the very worst defenders in the entirety of the league, probably because of his T-Rex arms.
Dirk is more skilled. I wouldn't say his offense is much better, though. Those rankings are definitely going to change my rankings, though. You have to include Aldridge, too.
WHAT? ah...NO. Not even close. He is a one dimensional "athlete". he plays basketball as an "athlete". A guy like that is by definition "mediocre". Now, will he be very good one day? yes. Is he very good now? yes. Top 5 PF? maybe Top 10 PF? that's right. Top 2? No F'n way.
LOL! Then you compound the first foolish statement with this one, and I am one of his biggest fans. Bluntly put. Aldridge can't rebound for ****.
I just explained what a "mediocre" player entails. I didn't agree that he was "mediocre", but it is not crazy to call him that.
Is it just me, or does Aldridge not get attention for his flaws? I like him a lot, but on a national level, he seems to escape most criticisms.
Dirk was pretty poor at rebounding, too. He averages 8.3 for his career while Aldridge averages 7.5. He was still considered the best PF.
I agree that he's a one dimensional athlete. His skills may be mediocre. But he's one of the more efficient and productive Power Forwards in the NBA. I stated that my rankings will change after Mainge posted the defensive stats. But to say as an overall player, taking into account his production and efficiency, that he's mediocre is wrong. That's what Desides did.
I think it's just mean to pick on Portland at this point. They were four bad knees away from being one of the jewels of the league.
The Bosh and KG debate is skewed, because both have proven to play much better as of late as Centers. Same for Duncan. So let's toss all three, and call them "Centers" Here it is: 1) Love 2) Gasol 3) Dirk 4) Aldridge 5) Randolph 6) Griffin 7) Millsap 8) Smith 9) Stoudemire 10) Ilyasova 11) Lee 12) West 13) Faried 14) Scola 15) Ibaka 16) Boozer 17) Humphries 18) Anderson 19) Brand 20) Gibson
On my list..you can jump Griffin one spot and drop Dirk, if you think that he's done. But on "Lifetime achievement" he deserves that spot still. The guy has the best elbow game since Larry Bird.
I didn't. I just said that it isn't crazy to call him that. The only reason he is 6th on my list is because of his production. His "film" is atrocious.
That's the reason I had him second until I took into account defensive ranking. He may not have the best skill as a Power Forward, but he's efficient and productive. That's why I feel it's crazy to call him mediocre. If I had to revise my ranking, he would be in the top 5. I would rank him ahead of Dirk.
Houston officials, though, remain steadfast in their belief that, even if the Bulls decline to match on Asik, they'll be able to absorb at least three of the four aforementioned Magic role players: Richardson, Davis, Duhon and Turkoglu. Sources say the Rockets would have to send Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris and Chandler Parsons to the Magic from their current roster to make the salary-cap math work, as well the draft rights to Jeremy Lamb, Royce White and Terrence Jones, all selected in last month's first round. The Rockets, in addition, would have to waive a handful of players with nonguaranteed contracts (Shaun Livingston, Courtney Fortson, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan, Jon Leuer, Diamon Simpson and Greg Smith) to clear sufficient cap space. But Houston, sources say, is also offering multiple first-round picks to the Magic, including a potential lottery pick acquired this week from Toronto in the Kyle Lowry deal. Future picks are known to hold great appeal to new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, and no team in the recent running for Howard -- Brooklyn and the Los Angeles Lakers are the other two top suitors -- has a first-rounder of that caliber to send to Orlando. Taking a cue from James Dolan on how to give ridiculous contracts to players who dont deserve them I see.... Theres three adjustments I would make to your top 10.... 1) Love 2) Dirk (Sorry, hes so much better then Pau its not funny. Dirk has the most difficult to defend game of any big in the league) 3) Pau 4) Aldridge 5) Josh Smith (He played much better offensively last year once he cut down on the 3's. As a defender/shot blocker hes very good) 6) Griffin 7) Randolph 8) Stoudemire 9) Ilyasova 10) Lee (Im not putting Milsap in my top ten because even though hes had two very respectable years hes about to lose his spot to Favors)
A little while back Hinrich agreed to a 2-year deal with Chicago. I'm positive of that. Perhaps something broke down after, I'm not sure, but he did agree to it.
Anything before July 11 is unofficial. Hinrich may have chosen to go to Chicago but he can still be signed and traded by Atlanta if he agrees to. For Chicago he helps them by allowing them to ditch Korver which is something they had been looking to do all offseason.
Right but he didn't sign. Same with Bosh and Lebron. They agreed to come here and the S&T came after.
Rockets officially amnesty Scola (amnestying a 15/8 player?) which I just dont understand. Dwight Howard or not Scola isnt a bad enough player to deserve that. Hes not Darko or Arenas (injured) or even an instance like Chauncey Billups (He was amnestied to make room for a guy with a 4 year contract; Tyson Chandler). Youre amnestying him an impending FA who said he wants to play in specific place and has shown himself to be beyond flakey. Rockets officially sign Lin to the offer sheet; 3 years 25.1M Year 1) $5 Year 2) $5.225 Year 3) $14.898 Woodson has gone on record saying the club will match but it could be interesting to see if the Knicks make them wait this out 3 days and thereby hamstring Houston a bit.
For Orlandos sake and because Dwight is a whiney baby, I hope Houston lands him and he is forced to play on the Orlando Rockets next year. That being said it is a pretty awful move for Houston in order to be relevant for a year. Taking Dwight for a year and being stuck with all those awful contracts....good luck. Hope it goes through.
You do? Care to explain? What happens after the year when Dwight goes cross state to Dallas and they're stuck with the big contracts and possibly lose out on the young talent they just drafted?
Because you won't win anything in this league without a franchise player. Maybe you can convince Dwight to stay, and add to it. If not, they're going to be very bad, and being very bad is the best way to get a franchise player. Mediocrity is the very worst place to be in the NBA. Be great or be terrible.
If they take those bad contracts, they will be mediocre. Their decent players with massive contracts. They just used their amnesty. So thats not an option with those contracts.
^This End the Dwightmare. I'd rather see Turk get traded and not Davis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
