Well theres no quantitative stat for killer instinct or desire to win but if you watch their mannerisms on the court and the way they play/played, you can notice a significant difference in the way they approach being challenged by good defenders and the way they take it personally if they give up a basket in an iso situation. All I can go by is what i watch. I have no real liking for either player to be clear but Jordan would do anything it took to win and I dont see that from Lebron. I dont see a killer instinct from Lebron the way that I saw MJ have it or even Kobe had it in his prime.
The way they play? The guy sacrifices points, grabs 18 rebounds, will play 48 minutes, will guard power forwards and centers. I'm not sure what more you want this guy to do on the floor. His game is approaching a level of flawlessness that hasn't been seen before. The fact that Kobe is even brought up just shows how flawed the perception of killer instinct is. Just because he doesn't scowl and belittle people doesn't mean he lacks killer instinct. It just means he isn't an angry, insecure, psychofant.
Comparing a retired player to one in his prime is ridiculous. Michael Jordon won his 1st NBA title at 27 years old. Lebron James won his 1st title at 27 years old. Everything else is worthy of the recycle bin.
Actually I have a reason for my statements, you do not. That makes you Skip Bayless. You may not like the reason but thats not my fault Skip It just shows the homerism in your opinions. Jordan passed up shots just because he was doubled? hell no. He made them anyway. He took and accepted the personal challenge, maybe selfishly but the results were fine.
You have very bad reasoning. Saying one has more desire than the other is a stupid argument. You do not know Lebron or Michael. All we can use to debate are the facts at our disposal, not crap like desire or killer instinct. That's exactly what Bayless does.
And shooting when double teamed is superior to passing to the open guy because??? That's more of a challenge that reading the defense and making the right play?
No cause stuff like killer instinct and desire doesnt exist because one player cant possibly play harder or want to win more or want the challenge more then another. Just like one accountant cant possibly want to be better then the next accountant and does more to perfect his craft. Yes pure bull. I cant agree with your stance. When youre the greatest ever you make the shot anyway. The GOAT wants the ball in crunch time.
No, I didn't say any of that. I said you can't use that as an argument because you don't know if that's the case. You don't know Lebron and Michael personally to know if that's the case. You can keep pretending you know, but you don't. Regardless, Lebron is on pace to surpass him, IMO. It was going to happen eventually.
Whats Lebron going to pass him in? MVP's? Maybe. Hes also not got the same level of competition that MJ had. MJ had 5 HOF C's to compete against (Dream, Shaq, Zo, Ewing, Robinson) in his prime years, he had Magic and Bird in his early years. What kind of all time greats is Lebron going against in this era? Dirk? 0-1. Duncan (who hes 0-1 against and now facing Duncan at the end of his career)? Kobe at his end? Thats not necessarily his fault but it does affect his legacy if he doesnt win. No I dont know them personally and its ridiculous to insinuate that I do. I never pretended anything. I just know what I watch and what Im watching is a great player (Lebron) not be as great as the greatest ever (MJ)...at least not yet. Im not completely closing the door but I need to see a lot more. Jordan never had 1 finals loss...2 would probably close the door unless he got to 7-8 rings at which point we could re-open the discussion....
Lebron is 28 years old. Let him finish his career. Quite frankly it's stupid to compare the two players when LeBron probably has 10 years left to play in the NBA.
That would give him a 20 year NBA career. Are we certain it's going to last that long? I'd say he has one more big contract and one small contract left.
Jordan to me is the greatest player but Lebron is right up there, his haters are just laughable at this point. Will he win more than 6 titles more MVPs, etc? Who knows, he might. But when people start throwing around the notion that he's over hyped or not really that good, lacks some missing mental ingredient, its just pathetic at this point, I mean honestly just STFU and move on its annoying and you're embarrassing yourselves. Lebron is the best player of HIS era, no question, its not a discussion. And I'm a Wizards fan and can't stand the Heat, I passionately root against the Heat but I can see clearly whats right in front of me.
Jordan indeed held the door shut on a generation of Hall of Famers in the 90's. But he didn't in the 80's. That very much parallels LeBron, though LBJ reached two Finals during his pre-title period. From a perception standpoint, it almost would have been better if LeBron had never reached the Finals prior to 2012. You get demerits for coming in second, but not 4th or 5th. It's very possible that LeBron is now entering that championship phase that Jordan did. However, the core(s) of Jordan's title teams was pretty stable whereas Wade appears to be breaking down and Bosh is playing out of position. He may very well end up with a different set of running mates in Phase II. And I wouldn't knock LBJ's foes right away. He's lost to a Spurs team with four Hall of Famers (including Pop) and a championship Celtics core. He lost to a veteran Dallas team with Dirk then broke thru to beat Durant and Westbrook as an underdog -- the later two under unending levels of pressure and scrutiny of which Jordan never experienced. And he would be beating another great Spurs team -- with a diminished Wade. Currently -- and going forward -- there's a beast of a squad in Indianapolis he'll have to contend with. He continues to hold down Melo in NY, and there are other strong teams on the horizon. It's never easy nor will it ever be. The whole 'picking his team' thing is nonsense IMHO. Jordan inherited a Top-50 all-timer in Pippen (who chipped in 20 ppg during that run) and arguably the greatest coach in Jackson. Yet LeBron is knocked because he didn't win titles with Mo Williams, Larry Hughes and Mike Brown? And to suggest he's not motivated by winning flies in the face of what has transpired the past three years. Just because he's not an ******* and had to learn how to win by overcoming adversity (which they all do) doesn't mean his priorities lie elsewhere. OT: Imagine the defender LeBron would be in the hand check and armbar era.
Can't compare the two at 27. One player started in the NBA earlier than the other. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Then Jordan was a ****ing idiot. Because you always pass out of a double team. That usually means somebody is wide open? Carmelo Anthony just smiled.
Way I see it, Heat win this one and one more then Bron is on par with Magic Johnson. To my way of thinking, the guy whose rep should be taking a beating is not Bron, it's DWade's. Dude cannot go invisible man like he has imo.
pffft. Wade's worst case scenario is int he top 5 SG's of all-time. He doesn't have to much more. He is only 31, coming off his 2nd best season of his career...he's fine.
Repeat after me: "big time players show up when it counts and never are excused for not showing up when it counts" NBA regular season means jackola Sect, you of all people should know this, DW has vanished it's on him to do better.
Vegas WANTS you to bet on SA....that's bad news if your rooting for the Spurs. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
It doesn't matter if Lebron never wins another title. I'd still take him every day over Jordan or Magic because he is a better player with a much more complete skill set. Sick of people ranking by titles its stupid.
Careful younsgster, Magic had the same wide range of skills and somethings he did better than Lebron. Magic was incredible and a better all around player than Jordan. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I'd take Magic over Jordan without having to think as well honestly. Jordan is just the perfect personification of the type of society we live in and so people are amazed and gravitate towards his accomplishments.
What's ridiculous? The point remains that it took Lebron longer in the NBA to win a title than Jordan. Jordan didn't win a title his first 3 years so I have no idea where you get 18/19/20 from.
Titles isn't the only thing Jordan leads Lebron in. It's pointless to compare the two right now. Come back when Lebron finishes his career, and then see what the numbers look like.
