Is OT in hockey like OT in pro football, first team to score wins?

    Yup...

I'm physically ill right now. I have caffeine shakes like I drank a dozen espressos but I have not had any caffeine in at least 8 hours.

Same here, I don't think I can watch as well, the Bruins are really hanging around the front of the net.

Oh yes, since 2000 or so, they finally got a cable deal and the games are televised locally, this is our 3rd trip to the Eastern Conference Finals since 2003.

Even have the lapel pin from the 03 loss.

im happy for them and for maurice... especially after his time last year with the miserable leafs... he's a better coach than that. You can only do so much with what you're given... lets face it, the leafs gave him nothing. I should hate him because my ex-gf is his neice, but... as a coach, i like and respect the guy.... he's a good coach, he's done great things with that team this year, and in the past. so good for him.

I just didn't think carolina had many fans , but good for you!

Anaheim was jobbed by that goal. Cleary pushed the goalie and did not touch the puck

the PP goal that anaheim got too shouldnt have happened as well, as hudler was checked into Hiller by Pronger, thats not goaltender interference... so it all comes out in the wash

the goal that was pushed in with the ducks goalie hadn't been frozen. the play was a "hockey play" so the goal counted, otherwise it would have been considered interference i think.

Yea, Brandon. Clutch playoff winning does that. Come on over, there's room for you too.

    4-0 in game 7's.

And for the record, I hear you on the shakes. It's heaven and hell watching games like that. I could hardly breathe! Boston has a great team, and Chara scares me to death.

We should talk to him about playing some TE for the Fins.

I feel bad for you Brandon, but I think most of the people sitting in that Boston arena last night are probably Patriot fans, so they are due for a little suffering.

whats not allowed is if the goalie freezes the puck and is pushed into the net... thats not what happened here, the puck was lose behind Hiller heading toward the goal, Cleary jabbed at it and hit Hiller, but the puck was always loose so its a legal play...

Watched my first Bruins game start to finish in...I guess about 5 years. I've more or less gotten over the trifecta of blowing a 3-1 series lead to Montreal, the lockout, and trading Joe Thornton for a six-pack of beer, a couple game-used pucks and 2 tickets to Disney on Ice. God, I forgot how rough playoff hockey can be on the fan, especially game 7 OT, when losing feels 10 times worse than winning feels good (if that makes sense).

Now, I feel like Scott Walker murdered a member of my family. If I saw him on the street, I wouldn't hesitate to punch him in the nuts (and yes, I'm aware that he would kick my *** afterwards...it would still be worth it).

If you punched Scott Walker in the face you'd win because he'd turtle or his brains would be scrambled. Everytime he's fought a guy that actually fights occasionally in the last 5 years he's missed a month with a concussion.

I'm still devastated. The hockey gods bent me over the hamper. "We'll make Scott Walker the arch villain, then we'll let the Bruins come back forcing a game 7, then we'll have that game 7 go into overtime and give the Bruins the best chance to win the game in overtime (if Krejci puts his shot 1 inch to the left he ends it) and then we'll have Scott Walker score his first ever playoff goal to win the series".

I've had to deal with the "May Day" goal, the Glen Wesley miss an open net followed by Petr Klima scoring goal, trading Thornton for a bag of pucks, 3 years of no hope, terrible ownership, losing to the Habs up 3-1 in the series, losing to the Oilers 2 straight years in the Finals and losing to the Penguins 2 straight years in the Conference finals but last night HURT.

I don't see myself watching more then a few minutes of hockey for the rest of the playoffs. I'm glad they don't play again until October and that the playoffs are 11 months away because it takes too much out of me.

Interesting offseason for my Bruins though which will keep me in the loop. they are young still but have some decisions. Both Krejci and Kessel are RFA and they are tight against the cap if they sign both to $5 million/year contracts. I think (hope, pray) Krejci will sign before July 1st, 5 years $20 million sounds pretty good. I'm willing to bet Kessel's rights get flipped to someone for a defenseman.

You forgot losing to Montreal, a #8 seed, when the B's were a #1. I set a world record for "most times throwing a baseball cap into the wall in a playoff series". Look it up, it's in Guinness and everything. I think Jose Theodore stopped something like 764 shots in the last two games of that series, while Byron Dafoe couldn't stop a balloon.

    LOL!

I mentioned it. The B's were up 3 games to 1 in that series. Kyle McLaren almost decapitated Richard Zhednik and the tide turned. Theodore stood on his head like you said and, well, my love affair with "King Byron" ended in that series.

They are recounting his playing and coaching time so lots of old time Bruins will be in the city helping out

Well, I've been out of the country since last Friday, when the Bruins fell behind 3-1 in Carolina. I figured the series was over and I wouldn't be seeing a Bruins game until next fall. Well I missed all of Game 5 and Game 6, and after seeing that they pushed the series to a Game 7, I told myself I had to catch at least part of that game. Well, I found a place televising the game and caught Lucic's 3rd period goal and all of OT. I watched the game from a distance with no sound, so I can't comment on much. However, I did catch the Game and Series clinching goal and I couldn't stop short of vomitting in my mouth. Timmy can't control that rebound? Really?

Oh well... still a devastating loss and to lose it to the Whale makes it worse.

Sorry, Brandon. I meant to send those condolences to Unified.

But, I am still mad about the 2002 Canes-Wings Cup Finals. I was at that triple-OT Game 3, got home at 3:30 that morning. Hopefully we get a chance to get revenge on the Wings this year.

And, btw, I agree with you guys on the Phoenix problem. That team should go to Hamilton or Winnipeg.

If New York can have 3 teams, I see no reason the Toronto area can't support two.

Pens jumped out to the early lead tonight, the Canes came roaring back.

Staal was very very close to sending it to overtime with 40 seconds left.

    So big hearing today.

NHL says it controls Phoenix while Bailsislle (sp?) claims he purchased it off the owner

Bettman has on record said if Phoenix has to move

"It should be offered to Winnipeg first"

This is the closest we have come to getting our team or any NHL team back here and the city is getting excited, although not too excited as we have heard rumors before

Well me and 700,000 of us here as have our fingers crosses that this happens

    Pagan isn't talking trash anymore.

The Pens are an explosive offensive team and IMO the 'Canes are making a mistake trying to play the Pens style and not their usual dump and chase and forecheck.

down 0-2, heading back to Raleigh.

And the pathetic officiating continues... Kronwall, delivers a clean hit to Havlat... yet gets 5 minutes and a game misconduct... hawks on the powerplay almost the entire first period... what a joke...

    What happened to hockey???

if detroit is getting the long end of the stick the best kind of things are happening in hockey.
