What a dumb penalty by Watson that was, ended their hopes of a comeback. They had them stopped on fourth down. Also, Brown did not look good in run support tonight. The fact that BC ran the same exact play many times and he couldn't figure it out worries me. On one play, he was free off the LOS and he zoned in on the RB, thinking the RB had the ball and he just ran right past Crane.
Rashad Johnson I believe is someone our head office is definitely looking it for this coming draft as CK mentioned. Very close to 3 picks tonight. Two outstanding special teams plays, downed a kick on the 2 or 3 yard line, another when he was the first man down the field and nailed the returner a half second after he caught the ball. We could use a young safety who makes the big play and can actually hold on to interceptions and he is an outstanding special teams player to boot. Raji has been an animal in the game against FSU. Almost every single play he jolts the lineman back several yards in the the backfield. You could almost say he has been in the backfield more then the FSU running back since between Raji and the other big fella they shut down the Noles running game. I was also pretty impressed with his athleticism for such a big guy. So far tonight not overwhelmingly impressed with Everett Brown. The LT for BC seems to have had him under control throughout the game. The Freshman RB for BC is pretty impressive, runs hard and tough to take down. Also for Alabama, the MLB who is a true sophomore, kid will play on Sundays and probably come out after his Junior Year. Perfect size, 6'4" 250 lbs, smart and always around the ball.
Yeah, he's on my day 1 list of corners. Needs to add some girth, but he has good transition skills and a nose for the ball. He's aggressive in attacking the run game, but not a great tackler. But he watches the ball well in the air and doesn't often get beat. Nice player with good upside although just a junior.
Thanks. I would think he isn't one of the higher rated CB's on our board if he's not a good tackler, unless the coaching staff believes they can change that.
Davis didn't impress me either. He was solid in coverage and had a better day than Jenkins in that respect. I totally agree that Jenkins got lucky on that drop by the WR. For all intents and purposes he gave up a TD. Jenkins seems like more of a team player. He does everything he can to help his team win. I don't think he's the next Champ Bailey but some people do and that's fine. They can have him. My problem with Vontae Davis is his unwillingness to hit a running back beyond the line of scrimmage. I saw the same things alen1 saw. Davis constantly ran in circles watching his teammates tackle the ball carrier. He totally jogged on that play where Pryor had the long gain. Davis will come in and lay a lick on a runner coming out the backfield which would make you think he's very good against the run. However, anytime Wells broke free Davis let his teammates do the heavy lifting. I never saw him lower his shoulder or make a tackle on the RB beyond the line of scrimmage.
