Sheesh. This game just highlights how James Laurinitis shouldn't be anywhere near the mike LB position in the pros. And I'm not sure he's quick enough outside. He looks like he's running in tar today.

Vonte Davis was a monster today. Jenkins got beat several times.

What about Beanie Wells? That power, speed and athleticism. Sure he is nicked up and inconsistent but he has that home run ability. I just hope he stays healthy all year.

Davis didn't impress me too much to be honest. I didn't see much thrown his way either though. What I did notice is him not running after ball carriers on the opposite side of the field of him. He did a lot of standing around. Still have yet to see Davis play bump and run coverage. Always off coverage. Jenkins didn't look back for the ball when he got beat on the right side of the field. Lucky for him, the WR dropped it.

Beanie looked good today. I thought that the leap he had was a beauty. He keeps his wheels going and I loved that. However, he got injured yet again and didn't protect the ball. There were three plays where he lost the ball but only one was actually a fumble. I thought he ran upright today and I'm thinking that may be the reason for all his injuries in the past. I haven't seen every game of his career as you may have BK so I'm wondering, does he always run upright?

Davis was outstanding. In Coverage he was solid, in run support he was better. Jenkins had another blocked punt he can fly off the line.

I believe Beanie had a muscle cramp in his leg but it drives me nuts him putting the ball on the turf!

Yeah he usually runs upright after he breaks off the line. Once he gets to the second level he uses the stiff arm instead of bulldozing.

Your right, Davis did make a play in coverage. I believe he had one pass breakup that was a very good play. In run support, outside of the first quarter, where he made the Pryor run stop and then the Beanie run stop early in the game, I didn't think he did much more after that. He ran circles and then watched the ball carriers run around. For example, do you recall Pryors long gain in the first half where he went up the middle and then cut to the right? I saw Davis jog after him and then just stop, thinking a play would be made. There were a couple other times where he watched. Just what I saw.

I wonder if Vontae Davis is afraid of getting beaten deep? He doesn't spend much time playing bump and run coverage.

Not sure bro. I watched the game as a fan not a scout :wink2:

I know Davis plays more press than Jenkins. OSU likes to play zone.

I can't say "no" because I have seen maybe three total games of Davis. However, in those three games, Davis played off coverage almost every play. I've seen Jenkins play more bump and run than him. Again, I've seen maybe three games of Davis and about four of Jenkins.

One of the issues people wish to see answered with Davis is his long speed. That has been a concern for a while. One way to hide that is allow the play to be in front of him more, where he can break on the ball. A guy who is quicker than fast will look good in this type of scheme. If he plays tight to the line then he can be beaten, and if he doesn't have great speed it will be very apparent.

It could just be the philosophy though too, although Zook to my knowledge doesn't favor pure zones, and IIRC he didn't at Florida either.

There were some good position on position matchups today. CB vs CB with Jenkins and Davis. WR vs WR with Hakeem Nicks and Darius Heyward-Bey. LB vs LB with Jasper Brinkley and Brandon Spikes.

Agree Boom, Im an avid Buckeye lover but JL does not have the look of a great pro...maybe in the right system he can be effective.

Beanie on the other hand is the best running back in the class IMO, but will his injury prone resume drop him out of the top 20??

If JL would just play purely on instinct and quit second guessing himself he would be a fantastic LB.

I guess its a toss up between Knoshon and Beanie it will be all about player preference IMO.

In my opinion, its a battle between him and Knowshon Moreno. Moreno likely gets the nod because of the constant injuries to Chris Wells. I am torn on which one may be the better back. I don't think he drops out of the top 20. JMO.

I wonder if the bold applies to Macho Harris as well. I wonder about his long speed.

I didn't get to see much of DHB and Nicks. I saw Nicks throw a few blocks and catch a pass over the middle on a wheel route I believe. Same with DHB. How did they look? Spikes is impressive and I know you like him. I like Brinkley, he's a smart player but I think he may be too slow.

Agreed; if you get consistently dinged up in college, you're going to get consistently hurt in the pros. Look at Adrian Peterson, heck our own Ronnie Brown.

    Moreno goes before Wells, IMO.

But Wells shows toughness that he plays through the injuries. Still he should fallout of the top 10. I hope he doesn't fall to the Jets I will be sad if he does.

The coaches will like his toughness but once the injuries start piling up and happen constantly, coaches will get tired of it, especially if he misses time.

Six from today alone? That's great man. I watched four games today I think. The Wisconsin game, the OSU/Illinois, the FSU game now and about a half of the UF game. I found a torrent of a Virginia game so I'm hoping I can download it and watch Sintim play again. Maybe their will be more games there.

Hmm a RB who impressed me today was Clemson Rb CJ Spiller, he did everything today, catch, run, run with power, run with speed...of course it was against Duke but still...

And Duke DE Oyanga Okpokowuruk...he moves well.

Tarheels Tremaine Goddard looked sort of average to me.

Everette Brown is getting manhandled nearly every play so far in the second half. Has the quick first step but can't do anything once the Tackle gets his hands on him.

I have really gotten the hang of my DVD recorder, and the thing is pimp to be honest once you get it all set the way you want. By the way, if you are gonna watch some 'Bama ole' # 71 has a issue IMO that a lot of people don't seem to be talking about. It is a "small thing" (you'll get the rue meaning of that) but it adds up when it becomes clear. :wink2:

Yeah I didn't agree with his list. I'm not impressed with Brown tonight. I can see why people are looking at him as an OLB. He has the quickness but I don't see anything else from him other than getting beat up on. And he doesn't look like he's 252 pounds, which he's listed at. By the way, every time I've seen Rajii in this second half, he's been in the backfield.
