In the town next to where I went to highschool it is against the law to have sex with a virgin, even if you are married.

I believe there is a genetic component, but there doesn't have to be. If there are important environmental factors, it is more likely to be a group of them working in concert than one single factor, so two people who may seem to be exposed to the same environmental factors may not actually. And even if they are, it isn't necessarily cause and effect. You can have two identical twins with the same genes, but one gets cancer and the other doesn't even though they seem to be exposed to the same environment. And there are identical twins where one is gay and the other isn't, so it seems pretty unlikely that it is purely genetic.

The slippery slope is that if it is just a genetic "predisposition," as opposed to something that is genetically preordained, then those who want to argue it is a choice still have ammunition with which to do that. It seems to me that very few things are purely genetic or purely environmental. A person may have the genetic makeup to enable them to be tall or big, but without proper nutrition, etc. that may not happen. A person may have a genetic tendency toward dark skin, but if that person lives in Alaska his skin will likely be much ligher than if he lives in the Caribbean. But as I said before, it's not like the tall person is choosing to be tall or the dark skinned person is choosing to be that way.

Personally, I think whether it is a choice or not is irrelevant. Let people fcuk whoever they want to. Who cares? I don't believe in a hgiher power, but if there is one I'd like to think he/she/it has better things to do than worr/care about who/what gets our rocks off.

I guess this is the right thread to post this...although I feel like I'm at risk for stepping into some kind of argument I really don't want to be a part of.

This is a photo Miko Grimes just posted from inside Mike Pouncey's house. She said she stopped by to play with Pouncey's daughter.

I doubt anyone will propose jailing Mike Pouncey for having a framed Aaron Hernandez jersey in the privacy of his house. I doubt anyone will even propose that he be fined or disciplined by the league.

However, I think this statement (and trust me, it IS a statement) says a lot about Pouncey. And not good things. The "Free Hernandez" hats weren't just some kind of private joke or a show of support for a friend at a time when the facts and evidence were not easy to sort out or publicly available.

This is private worship of a guy that the world thinks is a multiple murderer. It's not even a signed jersey or anything, nor is it a Hernandez jersey from his days at UF. This is a Hernandez Patriots jersey, unsigned, framed and enshrined in the guy's house.

I think Pouncey's bad news. He's already mixed up with this Hernandez business to the point he's being served federal subpoenas about gun trafficking. We know he was involved pretty heavily in the whole Jon Martin thing. Not that I hold anything personally against Pouncey for marijuana use but it is against NFL rules and if they detect it then he will have to serve suspensions, and we pretty much know he smokes.

He's talented but when it comes to signing him to a contract extension you're no longer receiving that talent for cheap money. You're paying for it now. I don't think he's the guy you want to do that with.

I don't think we will be signing him to an extension at all, I think next year either via draft or free agency we will get ourselves a different starting center.

I would be weary of any type of long-term investment in Pouncey. Maybe franchise him or try to get a short-term deal done.

The entire "plug in for 10 years" thing is extremely silly IMO. The only position where it really applies is QB, IMO.

This is why we should have drafted a C/G. How can you rely on a guy like him? It doesn't matter how talented someone is, if he's undependable what good is he?

He's been the most consistent and stable player in the offense, what about him is unreliable? His thoughts?

This makes me wonder too, how much Grimes associates with Pouncey off the field, especially after reading Incognito's texts about the level of partying taking place at Pouncey's house. Sounded like it was too much for even Richie and he was hoping or was glad Martin was staying away.

Being a professional for one. Why is there always something about this guy? Can you clearly say without any doubt that pouncey will not make anymore news for the wrong reasons moving forward? I don't care if hernandez is his play cousin, road dog, blood brother, frat bro or relative. He is being held w/o bond for a reason. Showing extreme loyalty to a serial killer is beyond troubling.

And two, picture this: We're in the playoffs and let's say on the eve of the AFC title game pouncey does something off the field that won't allow him to play. Or the other shoe that we're all waiting to drop is an arrest warrant for something he did at U of F w/ said serial killer. Will it happen? Probably not, but it's more reasonable to think it can happen with pouncey than any other phin or NFL player for that matter.

Not to be picky here, but while Hernandez is an alleged cold blooded murderer, even if he is convicted I don't think his actions would define him as being a serial killer. That would be someone whose killings are motivated by psychological gratification, like a Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer, etc.

Yeah it always has been. Jake Long and soon to be Mike Pouncey are the examples of why never to use that phrase

Its absolutely ridiculous. In fact any NFL player having another current NFL players jersey framed and in his living room is weird.

It is incredibly common. In fact, I would guess that the vast majority of NFL players have jerseys of of other NFL players in their homes.

    Nice update from Beasley.

Don Jones has "a bunch of family members" that are gay, including his brother and some cousins evidently.

I think the immediate instinct is to see his original comments more harmlessly in that light. But at the same time it would be interesting to hear perspective from those gay family members of his on what they think. I'm sure they love him like family, but it's also possible they've always felt he was a little intolerant or insensitive. Maybe they're glad the whole episode happened, forcing him to go to sensitivity counseling. Or maybe they were watching the Michael Sam kiss themselves and thinking "OMG, horrible".

Don Jones is allowed to think it is horrible to see two men kiss and rub cake on each other. Like it's okay if you think someone is ugly. It's just better to keep some opinions to yourself. The brother being gay is much different than I have some friends that are gay ...
