His recent splits at Dodger Stadium are certainly a concern but hopefully he can return to his 2006 form.

This is what has killed Greg this year. Throw all the other stats out the window, it has been the lack of hitting in San Diego, and the shaky bull pen we have had this year. Greg will be just fine.

Great game on Friday. Ethier is stroking right now. They face Webb tonight which will be tough. Ethier hits him well and I think Manny should be ok. We really need Billingsley to follow up Lowe's performance.

And its official. The Dodgers have overtaken the D-Backs for first place. Manny with the bomb...again. Oh and the ground rule double was fantastic. I feel like flying to Boston and thanking each member of the Red Sox staff for trading us Manny.

Manny is a GREAT hitter, just hope that the Dodgers don't resign him because what you're seeing now is someone playing for big money, once he signs it, then you'll know what Red Sox fans had to put up with for 7 and a half years (and I'm not complaining he was a great Red Sox but was a pain in the *** for about 6 and a half years).

  15. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Yeah we have all seen bad Manny in Boston, but you know what? I am willing to deal with it if he ropes like this. He makes everyone else better in this Dodgers lineup. Considering all of the money coming off the books in L.A. in the offseason, I wouldn't be surprised if L.A. tries to sign Manny AND C.C. Sabathia...

Hey if I were a Dodger fan I'd be loving Manny too. But I do think it would be a mistake to sign him to a long term deal. Yeah he can still hit however he's going to be 37 and will probably want a contract of 4 years at least, so he'll be 41 by the time it's over. He's a below average LFer right now, imagine him in the coming years in the NL with no DH, especially in the NL West where every park has huge OFs?

Also his hitting hasn't been the same as it once was. He's still a good hitter but not a great one, pitchers who throw gas gave him a lot of trouble and he doesn't hit left handed pitchers as well as he used too.

Again as great as he's been the past month and a half, this won't be the player the Dodgers will be signing.

Perhaps, but I will give Manny credit in this regard. I never buy jerseys of ballplayers. In any sport. I have Marino and Magic Johnson jerseys. Both are obviously retired and safe picks that they won't show up on the Celtics/Patriots to make me look foolish.

I haven't bought one yet, but I am so jacked, I am thinking of buying a #99 jersey. He has been that good for us. Hitting .400, 11 hrs and 30+ rbis is just off the charts.

Coletti, while being a bad GM with free agents, has actually been pretty good about the length of contract he gives people. I can't imagine going over 3 years max for Manny. And chances are...Manny will probably head back to the American League. Heck, I woudln't be surprised to see Moreno throw out the cash to make Manny an Angel.

I just know that he makes the kids better here in La La Land and I am all for him coming back.

And a sweep of the D-backs gives the Dodgers a 1 1/2 game lead in the division. They are peaking at the right time and have a cake schedule going into the playoffs. They don't face another team above .500 the rest of the way. The Padres, Rockies, Giants and Pirates.

If they can't win at least 11 of these last 19 games (and probably should win more) than they dn't belong anywhere near the playoffs.

Magic number is 11. Up by 4.5 games after being down 4.5 two weeks ago. Just fantastic baseball being played right now and Chad Billingsley is coming into his own. Second in the league in strikeouts and 15 wins. He is becoming an ace and will probably be close to 20 wins next year.

Clayton Kershaw has looked much improved as well and will probably be in the starting rotation next year as well.

But with Saito coming back, L.A. finally has their closer back for the stretch run and looks to be headed for the playoffs.

Billingsley is an ace and really overcame a rough start (thank you everyone who dropped him in my fantasy leagues). If the Sabathia rumors bear fruit, we could have a deadly rotation.

I think they're going to break Saito in as a reliever first before hitting it as a closer.

Going into the playoffs, who is our third man in the rotation? Billingsley and Lowe are locks, but who is third? Maddux? Kershaw? Kuroda? Maddux probably makes the most sense, but if Kershaw pitches like he did last night, the rest of the way through the season, he has to be considered in my opinion.

I think Maddux would get the nod as a veteran. Kershaw's a bit green and still trying to find his way around. Only if Kershaw's lights out for the rest of the season would he get the 3rd spot.

As a Giants fan I wish you Dodgers the best in our upcoming series & I hope we knock you out of the play-offs like you guys did to us back when we were in the same division as the Braves. :evillaugh: I won't wish you guys GL in the playoffs if you make it, because it would like saying "good luck in the playoffs" to a bunch of Jills, Jets and patsies fan. :tongue2:

The D-backs lost today, so the Magic number is now 2! If L.A. can come back and win tonight, it goes to one.

It is almost time to celebrate Dodger fans!

Hats off to the Dod-ghers. Your team came together at the right time, and the D-backs lost all momentum down the stretch.

Good luck the rest of the way. :ffic:

Most likely we will be having a cup of coffee in the playoffs as we are not that good. But thanks for the congrats. Always classy AZ.

The only shining light for us is that it looks like the Mets and Cubs will be first round opponents. that leaves us the Phillies who L.A. has swept in Philly this year. Of course, they did the same to us in our house...so who knows..

I wouldnt discount what the Dodgers can do in the NL playoffs. It's the Cubs and everyone else, and the Cubs have history working against them lol. Grats on the impending playoff birth. Maybe we'll get lucky and see your Dodgers in Anaheim soon :wink2:
