We had to call an ambulance for Mo, my 6 yr. old granddaughter. She had a seizure on the school bus. Her bus driver was scared to death. Thank God her dad was home and he went and got her off the bus. They checked her out at the hospital and said her potassium was low, every thing else looked fine. She had a CT scan and nothing was found. She has to have a follow up with her doctor and maybe see a neurologist. Please remember her in your prayers. It was a scary thing to see her so un-reponsive (for about 20 min.) She's a real rounder and it's odd to see her so quiet. She seems to be fine now, talking etc., but they have to keep a close eye on her for atleast 24 hours. Thanks every one, pray for me and the rest of the family also. This grandma got scared to death so did Chan, the 9 yr. old. Love all of you. Debby
Sounds scary especially for someone of that age. Potassium is definitely something to have a bit more in diet. My thoughts and prayers go out.
You have my prayers for your whole family. Electrolytes out of balance will produce some dramatic effects. Praise God, they can be reversed almost as fast. Hopefully the doctor can pinpoint the why and see to it that it doesn't happen again. Give her an extra hug from all of us here!
She will be in my prayers as will you and your family. Also feed that child a banana every once in awhile
Thanks every one. Her and her mom & dad came up here and she seems to be getting right back to herself. She looks a little pale, but her dad being a paramedic is a big plus for us. He'll keep an eye on her all night. I'll keep you all up-dated as much as I can. Love to all of you..... Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts. The adreneline rush has gone now and I feel like I've been beat up, but, Praise the Lord she's safe and at home.
Thoughts and prayers for the little one from this "virtual" auntie. Exactly what I was going to suggest Deb. If she likes bananas, they are an excellent source of potassium. God Bless the whole family. Let me know if you need anything sweets.
Thoughts and prayers Debbie, and yes, bananas are great for potassium. I used to eat them when I was growing up to help prevent leg cramps and the like.
Good luck Debby. May I suggest that she get tested further to rule out any potential problems? Doctors are very quick to shrug off concerns. A seizure that lasted that long should be looked in to as deeply as possible. She will be in my prayers.
Thanks girl, you're always there for me. So far, all is well, she's up to her usual bouncy self. They kept her out of school today, of course, but she wants to go back. She still looks a little pale to me, but us grandmas always see stuff our children can't see. LOL Talk to you soon.
Thanks to all of you. She will be going to her own Dr., then they'll go from there. God bless all of you for your prayers, I was scared out of my mind.
You and yours are in my prayers sweety, I am very glad she rebounded quickly once she got going. Good to see you too..
Overall pretty good, and thank you. My failed oral surgury is giving me trouble again. I have an open communication from mouth to sinus because the dentist went crazy with the drill and punched it through into my sinus. Woke up with an infection inside the empty socket and by 10 oclock my sinus were lit up. Back on antibiotics I still have another month before my heart Doc will allow another oral surgury. Having this sort of infection in the sinus can be dangerous as it has access to my brain lining somehow. Almost time to see a lawyer. How the new computer working? I just got a new/used flatscreen monitor this a.m. for 50 bucks! woot!!
Dang Marty. I think I'd take a drill to the dentist. You'll be in my prayers my friend. Please be careful and take care of yourself. I still have the big monitor, I'd love a flat screen. Enjoy yours. Keep me up-dated on how you're feeling please. I worry about you.
You are indeed a darling Deb. Stop worrying about us all! J/K - We love you for worrying about us all.
Yea right, like you guys don't worry about me too! I tried to just do a quote, but it kept telling me my message was less than three characters. Why??
Course we do! The reason is that you may have tried to quote the message before the last html tag. We all love you Deb and worry about you too!
To up-date you. A pediatrician checked out Hayley ( my MoJo) and is trying to make an appointment with a pediatric neuro doc in Atlanta. She just wants to make sure all is ok. She said it may never happen again, but we need to do this to be safe. Thanks to our government, there's no pediatric docs any closer in my sons HMO network. The Dr. here did the exam free because a friend of ours is her nurse and she explained to her about the insurance. Now, how's that for a good Dr.? Please keep Mo in all your prayers. And us too!
That is a very generous Doc. Very fortunate to have him. She's in my prayers and hopefully all is well.
