I can't support this. I really want to as doctors are fellow scientists like physicists but why exactly would I want to re-create the big bang? To find the universal single force that developed all four forces? Tell me they're doing this to make interstellar travel possible and I'd sign up.

I guess their goal is to see what happened after the Big Bang. Of course if it actually creates a Giant Black hole I guess June 2008 will be the end of days

I don't understand how is this thing going to create black holes?

It won't happen because the LHC doesn't exert nearly enough energy.

From what I am reading they are saying it would produce a primordial black hole, mini black hole, that is not created like most black holes, star destruction. The reason it wouldn't effect earth is because these black holes die out due to hawkins radiation theory which states
So essentially sounds like the argument isn't will it create black holes it is will it create enough to basically **** us......

Haven't you guys seen "SpiderMan 2", all we gotta do is knock it down into the ocean and we're all safe. :)

Actually, I've been donating CPU process to helping calculate all the models for LHC for the past couple of years. http://athome.web.cern.ch/athome/
