Overall, not as bad as many of the mock drafts I've seen. Better than most imo. www.thehuddlereport.com 25 CB Alphonso Smith Wake Forest 44 LB Clay Matthews USC 56 OC Jonathan Luigs Arkansas 87 OG *Andy Levitre Oregon St 122 S Kevin Ellison USC 153 DT Clinton McDonald Memphis 197 WR *Brooks Foster North Carolina 215 RB *Herb Donaldson Western Illinois
I've seen us linked to Alphonso Smith a lot (in mocks, that is). I hardly know anything about the guy. He certainly doesn't seem to have the buzz that Sean Smith does. And having gone to Vandy, I know about DJ Moore. I'm just still not convinced that CB is a possibility for us at #25. It's fairly deep at the top this year, and I think at least one or two guys will fall out of the 1st and be there at #44 (if we really do consider it a need worth spending a day one pick on).
Smith is real good. Saw him at the senior bowl practices and he is just a beast. Would like to have him at 25.
problem here is, unless Crabtree falls to 25, we arent going to be able to get a #1 WR that is going to come in and produce like one. so if we pick another WR in the 2nd or 3rd round, then what? Ginn, Bess, and Cam are 3 good WRs. we dont run 5 WR sets and we dont even keep 5 WRs active. and with Londons ability on STs, its unlikely they are going to keep him unactive.
I don't know why H. Nicks couldn't come in a contribute in a big way. I think the guy has great hands and he runs great routes. I see him as the next Michael Irvin... may take him a year to figure it out but I wouldnt mind him at 25.
It would have to be at #25 if we want him imo, because Nicks should be gone easily by #44. I would really be surprised, depending on how free agency goes, to see us take a WR at #25. Parcells' MO, and consequently Ireland's too, is to focus on the lines until they are built to the level they want. My best guess today would be either OL, DL or LB at #25. Although if we took Alphonso Smith I'd be ok with it, depending on how the next 3 picks went. He is my favorite corner in this draft and either the next Antoine Winfield, or Pac Man without the baggage imo.
i like Nicks to, but i dont think he would come in and be our #1 WR right away, if ever. if we picked nicks at 25, depending on who is left on the board, i have no problem with that. receivers dont generally turn out to be top WRs in year 1 unless their phenoms. what do you consider "a big way" as far as contributing?
No way in HELL I see our current regime not going DL earlier on. I also think we wait till the second to pick up a CB.... I personally dont buy the hype on Mathews JR at all. Maybe if he is still there in the third...but with our first 2nd? No way.
25 CB Alphonso Smith Im a fan... I dont think he will last that long Smith holds the ACC record for career interceptions (21), tie broken with Dre Bly of UNC in the 2008 Eagle Bank Bowl
I dont mind our picks to much, but overall not a huge fan of this mock. Andre Smith #1 overall for starters.
