I never make trades because I'm bored. Like I said, I'm always trying to improve my team, not just make trades for the sake of making a trade.
Whatd you think of Calvin Johnson? I'm really torn on what to think of his projections for this year. On one hand, Det is supposed to be going back to a run first offense, on the other, Calvin is completely healed and could be ready to explode. I'm thinking if I want to throw DMF at this guy for Calvin. Then my WRs would be Fitz, Marshall and Calvin. My RBs would be Addai, Deangelo Williams and Slaton/Taylor.
Calvin Johnson looked pretty good so far. But with Lions going run first and add that he may be sharing looks with Roy Williams, it'll dampen his value. I'd do it if you need a WR.
RBs are always worth more than WRs in an equal tier, IMO. Give me a choice between Anquan Boldin and Michael Turner, and I'll go with Turner almost every time.
There's a little chance I do that trade regardless if Calvin explodes or not because my RB depth would be hit drastically. McFadden likely will get 12 carries per game and produce about 1200-1300 combined yards from scrimmage and as the season moves on even more. If Fargas, not a 100% injury free guy gets hurt McFadden will ABSOLUTELY EXPLODE in fantasy value. C.J. may become the 5th-7th best WR but you must get another RB before making the deal.
Okay, I think I know this one, but I have McNabb, Kitna, and Bulger on my roster. Who do I start week 1? I'm leaning toward McNabb, but Kitna could go off in the dome vs. Atl. Who do you guys/girls think?
Mcnabb. I'd def wait and see how much of a run offense their implimenting in Det before thinking about Kitna.
need some advice guys. Who should I start week one. Ricky Williams against the Jets or Larry Johnson against the Patriots. I ended up grabbing Williams in the 13th round not thinking I'd use him right away, but with him being named the starter now I've got some issues.
Thats a tough one man. I would have to go with LJ just because we dont know what the split will be between Ronnie and Ricky yet.
I wanna start Ricky too, but Ronnie looked a little too healthy against the Saints. Which is a good thing. I'm starting Fast Willie Parker instead.
Williams. Johnson's going to get stymied by the Pats DL and Chiefs will be playing catch-up and thus abandoning the run.
That's presuming Croyle/Huard are hitting their passes. It just seems like it's going to be a blowout and Johnson won't see many goal-line attempts or touches.
I would agree that it def could be. But theres no guarantee Ricky gets goal-line attempts either. So Im thinking LJ would def get more carries if they can stay in it for a min, and passes either way. If hes in a PPR league then LJ would be a good option bc theyve been throwing to their RBs a lot so far. IF KC gets destroyed and Mia keeps it close, its prob a 50/50 on Williams vs LJ
our league gets 1 point for every 10 rushing yards and 1 point for every 10 recieving yards. I've waffled back and am now probably going to start Ricky. If I start Larry and Ricky does good I'll feel worse than if I start Ricky and Larry goes off.
So is it safe to say that Slaton is the better of the Slaton/Taylor duo in Hou? He came back to practice on monday and is reported to be sharing carries with Taylor in week 1 as they ease Ahman Green back. I need to drop Taylor somewhat soon if hes the loser.
KC defense is above average overall and should be a little bit better this year. They were #5 in pass defense in 2007. I do not expect the Chiefs to win but I do not expect a blowout loss either.
Question: Who should I start this week as my Number 3 WR? Kevin Walter or Deshaun Jackson? Walter vs Pitt Jackson vs Stl I'm leaning way towards Walter right now.
I'd feel more comfortable with Eli. Skins may be missing JT or have him not 100%. Raiders have one of the nastiest looking secondaries in the league (on paper anyways) and Cutler's without his main man plus fave and only receiving-worthy TE got demoted. I think Cutler will do average but Eli has the greater chance to do damage. In addition, Cutler has not fared well against Oakland in the past while Eli has a much better success record vs. the Skins.
Curtis is hurt but Reggie Brown, Baskett, and Westbrook are all ahead of Jackson. I also have to worry about Philly tearing Stl apart and then just running the ball the rest of the game. I'm leaning towards Walter because hes a #2WR in that offense and I would guess that Johnson gets all of Pit's attention. I also think that Pitt should be ahead in that game so it will keep Hou throwing more often then Philly will.
who to start... Jamal Lewis who was back to limited practice with the hamstring injury against Dallas or Edgerrin James @ the 49ers matchup wise seems to favor James, as does injury concerns... but Lewis is a safer bet as a fantasy producer overall... hmmmm
I have to start 3 backs among: M. Jones-Drew, W. Parker, T. Jones and R. Williams, R. Mendenhall, J. Jones and 3 WRs among: TJ Houshmanzadeh, D. Bowe, A. Gonzalez, Re. Williams, D. Hester I'm leaning towards: RB - M. Jones-Drew, W. Parker, T. Jones WR - TJ Houshmanzadeh, D. Bowe and Re. Williams Suggestions?
I think that's your best bet for week 1. You may want to swap Williams for Hester depending on how you feel about Hester's odds of either returning a TD against the Colts or making some noise as a receiver. I say Jamal Lewis. Against the Cowboys, Cleveland may want to run it a little more to keep the score down, plus Anderson was out all preseason with that concussion. He's fully participated in practice, but still.
And now, two "Who do I start?" questions of my own. Team A, PPR league: RBs: Maurice Jones-Drew, Reggie Bush WRs: Terrell Owens, Larry Fitzgerald I have a flex WR/RB slot and I'm not sure who to stick in there. My candidates are Chris Perry (currently in that slot), DeSean Jackson, Javon Walker, and Justin Fargas. I'm leaning towards sticking with Perry. Team B, also a PPR league: WRs: Donald Driver, Robert Meachem, Reggie Brown W/R slot: Jonathan Stewart Steve Smith and Bobby Engram have KILLED me in this league. I traded Roy Williams for Carolina's Steve Smith and drafted Bobby Engram; Engram got hurt and then Steve Smith Hulked out. I'm curious as to whether I should keep Reggie Brown in the 3rd receiver slot, or switch him out for the Giants' Steve Smith. (Yes, I have Carolina's Steve Smith and New York's Steve Smith.) I'd also like to know what you guys think about keeping Stewart (plays San Diego this weekend) in the flex slot. I can put the Giants' Steve Smith in there if I don't put him in the WR lineup, and I have Jerious Norwood on the bench. (Plays Detroit.) Any thoughts?
Keep Perry there in A. I'd say keep Brown as #3 in B, and I'd probably have Stewart as the flex, though Norwood may be as worthy too.
In the first scenario, I like what you're doing with Chris Perry, though I think Justin Fargas is an intriguing play. I'm not that high on Perry and I think K. Watson will play a big role in that offense (eventually taking the job away from Perry). Onto your other team, I LOVE Jonathan Stewart, the guy is going to be great IMO. However, with the re-emergence of DeAngelo Williams in Carolina this offseason, I think at worst the carries are split but probably more likely is Williams seeing more touches. In this case, I'd probably play Norwood against a suspect Detroit defense (minus Shawn Rogers). On top of that, there are legitimate questions as to whether Turner will be as effective now that he's in a position to see more carries.
I just think if Watson was able to claim the starting spot, he would have done so by now, especially after seeing significant time last year. Turner's going to get 300 carries this season barring injury, and I have him on at least two teams. The coaching staff has struggled to find a place for Norwood this season. My drafting him was more of an insurance/upside thing than anything else. As for Stewart, he and Williams will swap out every drive, just like Ronnie and Ricky did in 2005. My big trouble with him right now is that his first game is against San Diego. Talk about initiation by fire.
RBs: Ditto WRs: Williams may not play so go with Gonzalez, good chance we can see a replay of 2004 in Indy
Agreed. Perry even though we have no idea what type of workload he will get is still better than the rest in a PPR. Stl D gave up 25 passing TDs in 2007. I think you stay with Reggie.
Ok, I got a question. In one league I have JT Osullivan as my starter, with Orton as my back-up. Should I pick up Tarvaris Jackson, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Ryan, Trent Edwards, or Brodie Croyle instead of one of them? And who should I start?
Another, in a PPR leage that also has 1 pt for every 10 return yards, who should I have in the flex? Kevin Smith, Chester Taylor, Donte Stallworth, Felix Jones, or Desean Jackson. I currently have Smith there.
Who to start in a PPR league between: Jamal Lewis, Ricky Williams, Matt Forte, Chris Johson, and Clinton Portis (need 2, currently JL and CP are starting).
