Funny, I just watched it yesterday along with the game at NE that year. Next up is the Patriots game at home. As a guy too young to have watched much Marino (Dolphins fan since 2000), they've been real fun. Also have 1984 AFC Championship (Pit @ Mia) and 1992 AFC Championship (Buf @ Mia). I don't imagine being too thrilled with the '92 game (don't know the score so don't spoil it for me please), but I'd like to hear some recommendations for other Marino games I should try to watch?
as I watch this game I see that nothing has changed for the Fins… Three Jets fumbles recovered by the Jets and one Dolphins fumble recovered by the Jets… lol
Washington 1984 opener has always been one of my favorites too. Although I have only heard the game on the radio as I was listening to it on the way home from Tampa after being at the Hurricanes/Gators game the night before in the old Sombrero in Tampa. Marino blitzes Washington with 5 TD passes, and Miami won 35-10 I think in Washington.
There's a 1994 Miami Dolphins special on now. It's great, but I seriously have to turn it off before Chargers game. I'll cry.
It is one of the two times I have cried after a sporting event. That and the '85 AFC Championship game loss to the Patriots. On topic of the Fake Spike game. Lost in the Marino stuff was how ridiculous Tim Bowens was in that game.
I was at that game in the meadowlands. You could hear pin drop when marino threw that winning fake spike to ingram.Nothing like watching a bunch of bewildered jets fans with that stupid look on thiers face headed for the parking lot. God I miss watching marino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was the first Dolphins game I've seen when I moved to Florida. Absolutely great game. Was on the 40 yard line right where Fryer caught the game winning catch. Will never forget going to the game in my Dolphin Zubaz and a long sleeve shirt. It just got done raining before the game and it was humid as $hit outside. Never been to Miami before so I didn't know how to dress for a Fins game in September....
Yep, that Skins game is a classic. It was also a great revenge game for when we lost to the Skins in the SB a couple years prior. Now we had Marino... they still had the smurfs. Duper beat Green that day IIRC on a long TD. So many great games. Pretty much the whole 1984 season and playoff run is worth re-watching.... save for the end. The playoff games, Seattle, Pittsburgh just epic games... I believe the following year the game against the Browns where we came from behind down 21 to 3 at half time IIRC. There's a Monday nighter against the Cowboys that is special to me because my brother is a Dallas fan. That fourth quarter was back and forth, every possession. Amazing game that gets little play. His last game, the unofficial one, up in Seattle in the playoffs... worth a watch. Some great Indy games in their place, with spectacular finishes.
I spent my Saturday night watching a 19 year old football game and texting with my brother, who was also watching, after each play. I was giddy like a 10 year old.
