Honestly we don't have a bad little group of WR's at the moment once we get rid of Legadu. It's just the same story since the Marshall trade. We need that dependable #1 guy that is going to take the double teams.
- Oakland has to travel to the east coast after a MNF Game - its a 1 p.m. game in september - of course you make em wear their black unis - they are already banged up at WR and lost CB Ron Bartell during the San Diego Game - we have beaten the Raiders 3 straight times - Palmer was running for his life all game if we not win this one....i don´t know
I don't see the Dolphins winning more then 5-6 games this season, but the Raider game should be one of those wins. The Dolphins handled the Raiders pretty easily last year and I just don't see that the Raiders have improved any, since these two teams met last year. The Raiders don't travel well, especially when they have to fly clear across the country. This game should be perhaps the easiest win the Dolphins have all season.
Agreed, I never said they were a bad team just that Carson Palmer stinks. So it will come down to who will play worse: an old washed up QB or our young rookie QB without any weapons? It will be a tough game but a serviceable game from Tannehill and hard running from Reggie and Miami has a chance.
Sorry DJ, they gotta be able to win w/o a crowd... and CREATE that atmosphere/arena. Don't put that crap on the fans...
I watched that entire game last night against the Chargers and came away with a few things about Oakland. 1. They have a really good defense. Rivers had an efficient game and thats with weapons like Robert Meachem and Antonio Gates. We have no player like that on our team. I do think our running game is going to be key if we have any shot at beating Oakland. Their front seven looked really good last night though. I like that rookie they have at linebacker Burris. Ryan Tannehill is going to be under pressure again in this game. It's not the Houston defense we are facing but it's a good one. 2. Same old Raiders; they are going to give you a couple of chances just off of mistakes they make. 3. Carson Palmer is still a really good QB. I mean he had nothing to work with last night and still made a name for the Meyers kid at tight end. He's got an undrafted rookie at WR on one side and Heyward-Bey on the other. Hopefully Derek Hagan doesn't burn us...He's still around. 4. Their running game isn't as good without Michael Bush. McFadden is a beast but I don't see him holding up if they are going to continue to use him the way they did last night. At any rate he is their main guy on offense especially without Denarius Moore, and Jacoby Ford. 5. Their offensive line is suspect or atleast looked that way. I'm hoping our guys can put Carson Palmer on his back and force him to throw a pick our way. I don't know that we can beat them but I expect a closer outcome than the Houston game.
These next 5 games are critical for the season. If we can make it out 3-2 and be sitting at 3-3 there is optimism for the final 10 games. If we can go 4-1, then we can really be feeling good about the season. Again, all starts with a W at home against the Raiders.
Well, hopefully our guys can out coach the idiots who kept sending that long snapper out there to lose the game for them....
Yup Nasty, that's true, they do need to win without a crowd..which makes it that much more difficult to accomplish..The arena regardless of the play will never, ever be that stage that an athlete desires..
That seriously effects the Raiders to lose Ford. I remember a lot of us wanted the Dolphins to draft him. Especially that poster who went by ToddsPhins, that used to be here. I think he was a Clemson fan or something.
I was going to watch the Raiders - Chargers game but saw the commentators and chose not to. However, I do know this - Greg Knapp runs a slightly modified version of Gary Kubiak's/Mike Shanahan's offense. A lot of screens, a lot of stretch zone runs and play action. I don't know what they did defensively but they have a strong DL and Jason Tarver, the DC, has experience working with Vic Fangio at Stanford. As a result, that probably means a lot of 1-gap play with multiple looks and pattern reading in the back end. They're around there. Just inexperienced or below average, really.
Alrighty fellas, if THill blows this one, we maybe should MMoore if we plan on winning some games this year.
I'd trade any team WR corps straight across, except MAYBE the Browns. Massaquoi, Little, Gordon and Benjamin, compared to Bess, Hartline, Naanee, and Armstrong. Tough call, and IMO, it is the only tough call. The Rams have Danny Amendola, Brian Quick, Chris Givens, Brandon Gibson, and Steve Smith the lesser.
Short week for Oakland, travelling across the country, running team (and run defense is obviously the strength of our D), they commit tons of penalties, suspect secondary, Dolphins home opener (and 1972 celebration or whatever). If the Dolphins don't win this one it's going to be a longer season than expected.
