I must say there have been many ups and downs, twist and turns to these draft prospects.

I'll tell ya how I felt on who we should have taken over these past months.

At first I thought Glen Dorsey was a lock. He was going to anchor the middle and make a impact right away. Well then the Dolphins hired Bill Parcells and that swayed it completely. I thought Dorsey had a outside chance being picked but then all these injurys piled up and thought about someone else for number 1.

After Dorsey I was sold on Chris Long. Chris Long is a typical BP kind of guy. High motor, always wants to improve, love for the game, great player. He would play OLB for the Fins if we were to run the 3-4 right away. I have to say Chris Long is the prospect that has stayed with me the longest. He just makes sense at number 1 and is a safe pick. Well how times have changed.

I wasn't a big Jake Long avocate but do we really want to take a DE at number 1 and change him into a OLB??? Thats why I'm sold on Jake Long. Jake Long has questions at LT but he would help anchor the O-line for years to come. He is a great run blocker and most pro ready Tackle in the draft. He is also the safest pick IMO.

The other prospects Gholston, Ryan, Mcfadden. I feel only Gholston has the best chance being our guy out of these guys but thats not saying much. I believe we will go with Jake Long on draft day and take a OLB or ILB with the first pick in the second round.

But in all honesty wether it be Dorsey, C. Long, J. Long, or Gholston id be happy with the selection.

Draft will be here soon and I can't wait. :hi5:

I feel the same way. everyday a different player being mentioned. I'm a Jake Long fan i think he can play LT in the NFL, plus he give us protection if carey moves on down the road with his contract do up soon.

I wouldn't count Dorsey out of the running just yet. If there's anyone mentioned that could have been too easily dismissed it's him.

I think Dorsey is out of it IMO. If we draft him we wouldn't be able to use his strengths. I don't think we will take Gholston or Chris Long. I think BP will take the safest pick and that will be Jake Long.

Yeah Jake is the safest pick....at worst he is an above average lineman who might play at RT...at best he will be a pro bowl LT who won't allow many sacks and he will open up huge holes for our rnning backs, and give our QB's all day to throw it. I think he is the least likely bust out there....we can always add the rest of the pieces later, but we absolutely have to get a solid ten year+ starter for the overall pick, and I think Jake will be that guy.

Actually Roman at worst he is a career pro bowl RT which doesn't sound to bad  :wink2:

Also if we plan on keeping Taylor then this just solidifies Jake Long even more.

Been wanting Jake for a few weeks now, solidly in his camp at this point.

As of right now it makes sense to draft Jake Long than Chris Long.

I just don't understand why some of you are so content with taking an offensive tackle that projects better on the strong side of the formation than the weakside with the #1 overall pick.

Because we don't believe your non-stop clamoring about Jake's lack of athleticism and the fact that even Orlando Pace would be a better RT than LT. If you have all the skills especially power you are usually at your best on the right side.

You are so blinded by your love for Chris Long that you won't even admit a single fault in his game and yet we are supposed to agree that he's as good as Mario Williams?

It's not just me along with a few others. Almost all analysts have said that Long projects to be a good LT at the least. He's no world beater but if his floor is a good starting left tackle that's something to consider especially when Chris Long is far from perfect.

Chris Long has no identifiable flaws in his game, and Jake Long has serious question marks about his ability to play left tackle. With the #1 overall pick, what would you rather have, a premier pass rusher, or a right tackle?

I'll go with the premier pass rusher, particularly when the tackle you want to play at left tackle would be akin to play Jon Runyan at left tackle.
