I doubt it. They havent even started working on a script for a 3rd movie so I dont know how they could have an actor picked out for a role yet. The studio needs to get Nolan back first.

Now that this movie is headed for top 5 all-time money to go with it's critical acclaim, it'll be interesting to see how the egos that develop from such a thing move on to the next film.

This is when producers get jealous of their directors, and directors' heads get big and the inevitable sequel gets directed by Bret Ratner.

The Studio will announce a sequel sometime in the next few months, I really hope Nolan comes back. But it is anything but a given. If he walks away, I hope his next production isn't hit by the negative karma Bryan Singer's Superman got when he walked away from X-Men.

One of the movie review websites I frequent was talking a bit about Nolan and how relatively little name and face recognition he has despite his success. They also pointed out that he may go down as one of this generation's best directors based on the fact that of his movies Insomnia was only ok, the rest being very good.

At this point I have a good bit of faith in his track record. I would have said the same thing about Raimi and his Spiderman series after the first two movies (the X-Men movies to a lesser extent). I would have been proven wrong, but I don't see Nolan going that route. If he wants to do it I think he will stick with his formula. Maybe he is holding off on committing because he wants to make sure to avoid the things His's points out.

But how could you have someone else play The Joker now that Ledger has set the standard ? :wink2:

I though I read Nolan saying no one will ever play the Joker as long as he's director?

DFD- Two face only worked in the short term and in the confines the character was placed in.

Katie Holmes has got to feel dumb. I'm surprised they only had her in a one movie deal...

I don't think TC is to blame. Why would he care if she did TDK?

One of my friends read that Coleman Reese (guy who knew Batman's identity) was going to become the new Riddler. When he meets Fox for the first time he's called Mr. Reese ... or mysteries, if you will.

Interesting bit of foreshadowing or simple coincidence?

Neither....now if his first name was Mark, and he was heading to find his fame and fortune, and Mr. Fox would have sat him down and discussed his future, and said, you are going on a Quest Young Mark. Then you would have had something.

Perhaps it was designed to throw people off the scent. I could buy him as the Riddler.

A villain who already knows Batman's identity before becoming a villain would be an interesting approach.

and thinking about his name being Mr. Reese. But the Riddler's real name is Edward Nigma.

These movies aren't cannon, I see no reason why they would have to maintain his real name. Especially if they wanted to surprise the audience. We weren't ever given The Joker's real name or a credible backstory.

Could have easily been a pseudonym or something along those lines as well. If he would have called him "Mr. Nygma" that would have been a bit more obvious, which isn't really Nolan's style.

It's an interesting angle to take for a villain, and the guy certain looks to me like he could fill the part.

That could have been one of those gravity/madness moments. All he needed was that little push from the Joker.

He certainly didn't display it, but to be as high up in a business like Wayne Enterprises he'd have to be smart.

I like the idea of The Riddler being a conflicted and smarmy little punk who resents Wayne/Batman.

Don't know why I didn't think of her, or initially rejected the idea. She'd certainly be on the short list. But I'm skeptical because at this point she wouldn't be Catwoman, she'd be Angelina as Catwoman. It's the kind of stunt casting they did in the first 4 movies, that they've wisely avoided on Nolan's films.

How is that any different than hiring Morgan Freeman?

If she is good for the role, then she should be casted for the role.

Last I heard, Morgan Freeman hasn't been all over the tabloids and entertainment gossip columns other than his recent car accident. And Morgan Freeman doesn't exactly attract paparazzi and media frenzies like a magnet like Angelina would.

Good actor, but not a controversial figure or one that brings immense media scrutiny.
