Part of the reason this team is struggling is new head coach new offensive coordinator every freaking season. With a new coach they purge players, bring in some of their "guys" and install new offensive and defensive mindset. It's like the damn Miami Etch-A-Sketch because every damn season the team gets shaken up, erased and re-drawn. The team needs consistency in the head office more than anything else right now.
It's annoying. People become so unbelievably hyped up and then set the rest of the forum up for a letdown. There needs to be a medium. This is a tough rebuilding project with minimal talent. Everyone should get that in their heads. Sparano must be kept. The system must be kept and the drafts must continue to provide solid talent. Slowly but surely the team will get better but it needs time. It'll be the end of 2009 before the team starts to really compete. No more HC firings, new systems or anything of the sort. Tired of that crap...
Point to be made is that we are starting some seriously crappy talent and our depth sucks balls. Simply sucks balls. The CB and WR positions seriously lack talent. We don't always start the best talent and we blow really dumb plays. Here's the good news. If this team really does get a top 3-5 pick they will likely get their hands on a fantastic player unlike in years past. This year I could easily see Michael Crabtree becoming a Dolphin with Ginn Jr. and hopefully Hagan on the outside. No more Ronnie Brown or Jake Long picks. I like those two but in more talented drafts they are not franchise material. What we are seeing right now is the result of picking non-prime #1 WR/kick returners (who strangely enough aren't used in the KR game, WTF), FS/CBs, spending highly on RBs (3 in the last six years basically), and on a RT (hopefully not two although Long was fairly decent). Outside of Jake Long this team has not only done poorly for the most part out of the first round, but has spent a ridiculous number of picks on non-essential positions. If you suck you want to get a foundation. You do that through #1 CB, 3-4 ROLBs or 3-4 REs, QBs, LTs (check hopefully), and eventually #1 WRs. You do not pick luxury picks as we have recently...
