These players are just a sample of the great talent that is out there for us in the draft. There is so much depth this year even in the late rounds there will be great players left. Parcells is a genius, he must have known that every position that we needed filled would be plentiful in this years draft. Kam Chancellor, S http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1681 (very versatile) Taylor Mays, FS http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1659 (speed, coverage and a big hitter) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sean Weatherspoon, OLB http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1691 (very versatile) Jerry Hughes, LB http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1772 (plays with an attitude) Greg Jones, LB http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=2397 (great ball instincts) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arrelious Benn, WR http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1849 (very versatile) Brandon LaFell, WR http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1746 (breakaway speed) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terrence Cody, DT / NT http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1701 (massive run-stopper) Dan Williams, DT / NT http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=2435 (“Williams wreaks havoc in the middle of the line”) I can't wait for the draft to start!!
IMO the WR class is horrid after Bryant. I don't want any part of Benn or Lafell. I see them as no better than Turner. They're physical specimens who are at best inconsistent and at worst never beens. They are the kind of players that get taken too high, then fail and are used as arguments that WRs always bust. I do think Thomas has some potential but as a prospect he's a 3rd round guy b/c all he is is potential. At S Mays is a guy who plays like a 3rd round prospect but will be drafted in the 1st just on his athleticism. I do agree that there are more NT prospects than usual this year and LB is deep. Overall, I see QB as weak, RB as weak, WR as weak, TE as average, OL as above average, DL as above average, LB as above average, Secondary as average.
I STRONGLY agree with your WR arguement, and would state that the ONLY other guy I would possibly be content with besides Dez Bryant hasn't even been mentioned yet in this thread
I should clarify what I mean when I say "the best draft in a decade". I mean for the DOLPHINS this is the best draft in a decade. Aside from being a little light in the WR department everything we need for our defense is right there for the picking. I would dump; Pennington, Taylor, Ferguson, Thomas, and think real hard about dumping Ricky Williams for as many draft picks as we could get. The Ricky Willaims decision hurts because he is my favorite player, but Lex Hillard could play that position well and Ricky will be done next year anyway. If we could get 5 more picks for all of these players we could really stack the roster with great talent at NT, ILB, S and so on..... With extra draft picks to burn we could always use that to bargain of an experienced WR too. I say dump the dead wood now!
i like Williams but i am all for dumping him if we can get draft picks i like Cobbs, Brown, and Sheets. to me Cobbs and Hillard are the same type of players but i really like sheets i think he could be a very good back i hope he makes the team i think he would be able to take over our starting RB job is Ronnie went down
Next year's draft is where it's at. Going to be ALOT of talent coming out. Should be even better than this class. From a WR standpoint, it may be the best WR class ever.
LOVE THEM OR NOT – ALL SHOULD BE DUMPED FOR DRAFT PICKS Torbor (29), Ayodele (30), Porter (32), Anderson (28), Grove (30), Denney (31), Taylor (35), Ferguson (35), Allen (31), Bell (32), Williams (32) This roster looks like a geriatric parking lot.
Correct me if I'm wrong but 3 of those 4 aren't signed for next year so trading them would be quite difficult and I'm not sure how much we would get for (Donald Thomas) or an aging Vet like Ricky.
Overall our roster is one of the youngest. Porter is already gone. Anderson and Torbor arent geriatric by any stretch. We will replace some of these guys, but they have little to no trade value, and we dont have the picks to replace them all.
"3 of those 4 aren't signed for next year" is a correct statement. Sorry guys, I did some checking and Landshark13 is correct. I started thinking about the draft today and thought, wouldn't we turn the NFL world on it's ear if we drafted a top running back at #12? The draft is very deep at all the positions that we need on D, if we are going to get cute they just might do it early.
I agree that there is a lot of depth of talent in this draft. It's very deep at several positions - except ILB - and one reason I wish the Dolphins hadn't traded away their 5th round selection - which hinders mobility in the draft. I also wouldn't mind a trade down to pick up an extra early-mid round selection.
