There is not a unit on this team playing well enough for its Assistant to be promoted. So who would be interim coach? Unless Don Shula feels like channeling Jack McKeon, and Don's too smart for that. This regime in a microcosm: Losing a QB on a broken running play. Thank God for the bye week and a soccer game at JRS to go to....
I wouldn't go that far. Let's see her fist pump intensity after field goals before we make that call.
I would replace a booty shake with a fist pump when we kick fieldgoals, making it definite that J-Lo would be a better HC than Tony right now.
I would make Bryan Cox the Head Coach. Not Nolan, his defense is flat...why not Cox, at least we would be fired up to play, not like today...when we looked like we would have rather been at the zoo.
What Ross will probably do is tell Sparano midseason that this will be the final year as the Dolphins head coach. Sparano will either leave out of his own dignity or stick around till the final week to get paid. Sparano is coaching to save his job, he's not going to be experimenting/developing younger players for next year or anything like that. He's trying to win to save his job, not for the betterment of the Dolphins. And he's doing a horrible job at it, which is why he will be gone.
Sparano needs to go now....because this team is going to quit even worse.....and it will only further tarnish this franchise. He needs to go now.....while there is still some degree of dignity left.
Keep Sparano for now...then fire him and go for a top 10 draft pick or get an interim, team plays inspired, settle for a mid round pick. Pick your poison
After seeing the on field play today, you have got to let sparano go, not only for us, but for him. These guys aren't playing for him and its not going to change. We need to part ways for both of us.
Cox is the coach of the Linebackers. This unit is terrible right now. Dansby is playing like one of the worst LB's in the NFL. Burnett is not only, not an upgrade from Crowder, he makes Crowder look like an all pro. Wake shows up for one or two plays a game. Other than that, his overall play has drastically declined from last season. Misi, or as I call him, Missing, has not improved one bit from last season and he looks like a wasted pick in the 2nd round. So while Cox played with a fire in his belly. As a coach, he has not been able to bring that same intensity to the players he is responsible for coaching. In fact I don't see one coach on the Dolphins who has done an effective job with any of the positions they coach. I would prefer Ross just keep Sparano as the HC for the remainder of the season. This should at least give the Dolphins the best chance to get Luck in the 2012 draft.
I hope Ross did not stop there. He was unhappy enough to fire at least Sporano at the end of last season. It will say something about him as an owner if he went into this season without a back up plan. I would hope that Ross has at least been sizing up potential future coaches and GMs with the understanding that there was a high probability going into this season knowing that this staff would not be able to turn things around. What big change did they make last off season to make anyone believe that this season would be some big turn around for this franchise? The lockout certainly did not help their situation any but the fact remains if Ross was ready to fire them last year why wouldn't he be prepared to do the same this year especially if they got off to an 0-4 start? The only thing not firing them last year should of done was given Ross time to shop around after Harbaugh turned him down.
